OLYMPIC SHOW SUCCESS

Wow what a weekend, the LoveBallet Dance Company pupils had a very busy weekend over 14th & 15th July performing in “Dream Light” the Olympic Themed Show and raising £2825.00 for Charity.

The show was inspired by the Olympics and is about individual and collective dreams. It’s about the journey of believing in yourself and successfully reaching & achieving your dreams. The show depict the journey of a group of individuals searching for the Olympic torch as their world has been plunged into darkness…through the inspiration of the different values of the dances from around the world, these individuals come to realise that the torch they seek is the light they receive from people following and realising their dreams.

There was Acting, Ballet, Tap, Modern, Gymnastics, Street Dance, Adult Tap and Contemporary in the show which kept the pupils very busy. They were super stars right from the start to the finish and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Principal Lorraine Day said “they have been asking me if they can do it every weekend they loved it so much, it’s just such a great fantastic opportunity for them to take part in a show of this scale. We had all ages from little ones of 3 years up to Adult Tappers, all enjoying themselves, performing on stage and raising a phenomenal amount for charity, I’m just so proud of them all.”

The show was entirely for charity and we chose to support 2 Charities - Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice in Coventry. This is a local hospice that provides respite, palliative and end of life care to families and their children aged 0-5 who have life limiting or life threatening conditions & Clic Sargent, this is charity that helps children and young people who have cancer. A grand total of £2825.00 was raised which is a fantastic amount in such difficult times.

Since then our feet have hardly touched the floor with the Summer School on Wednesday 25th & Thursday 26th July, this gives pupils and non pupils the chance to take part in various dance genres and try out new exciting things over 2 days of jampacked dance fun. We all have such a lovely time on the Summer and Easter Schools and they love the creativity involved. Now it’s time to work towards examinations and progress to the next grade in our dance subjects, the pupils will have exams in the Autumn so it’s a busy and exciting time ahead.

LEAMINGTON HOCKEY CLUB

Leamington Hockey Club was formed in 1993 and through the years has developed into a very welcoming, sociable but competitive club.

Our Clubhouse is based at Leamington Moorefields RUFC and we play our home games at North Leamington School. We currently have 4 Men’s Teams, 4 Ladies Teams and an ever-increasing Junior Academy section, with two Junior sides – the Badgers and the Vixens that play competitively throughout the season. Last season saw 3 out of the 4 Ladies teams gain promotion – the first time in Club history! We like to train hard, play hard and have a lot of fun along the way. Anyone of any ability is welcome to pop along to one our training sessions – just bring yourself, along with a stick, some shin pads and a gum guard.
