Welcome Hi all,

Amazingly, it’s 10 years this October since we launched the Southam & Villages Express Advertiser! It started off as a single colour (blue), 12 page A4 booklet, designed to advertise it’s sister business Express Press Design & Print. We never dreamed that we would become a full colour magazine, with a total distribution of 30,000 copies per month! I remember well delivering the launch copy in the October, with just Rob, myself and our kids doing the whole 8,500 ourselves! We refrained from printing a November copy as it took us a month to get the whole thing out! Our proper first edition came in December 2005, with many of the regulars you see today, and our rates are much the same too!

Slimming World’s

Honey & Yoghurt Cheesecake Serves 10. 1hour 10 mins plus cooling time.

Ingredients

4 level tbsp extra-light spread 10 light digestive biscuits, finely crushed 500g Quark • 4 large eggs 250g fat free natural Greek yogurt 2 level tbsp honey (Greek if possible) 1 tsp ground cinnamon, plus extra to dust 2 tsp vanilla essence • 2 tbsp sweetener finely grated zest and segments from 2 oranges 200g fat free natural fromage frais, sweetened to taste

Slimming World’s honey and yogurt cheesecake is a really easy dessert that is a guilt-free treat the whole family can enjoy. Made with honey, creamy yogurt and fresh orange zest, this delicious cheesecake is the perfect weekend dessert. This recipe serves 10 people, ideal if you’ve got friends and family over for dinner. Greek yogurt and honey are world-famous and play a big part in Greek cuisine. In fact, their history of beekeeping goes back to ancient times and this amazing cheesecake will definitely create a buzz!

Method

• Melt the extra-light spread in a pan over a low heat.

Add the crushed biscuits and stir to mix well. Spoon into a 22cm non-stick spring-form cake tin, pressing down firmly to make a smooth and even base. Chill until needed.

• Preheat the oven to 160C, gas 3.

• Put the Quark, yogurt, eggs, honey, cinnamon, vanilla essence, sweetener and orange zest in a large bowl. Beat until well combined and pour over the biscuit base. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until just set and golden. Remove

from the oven and leave to cool completely.

• Remove the cheesecake from the tin, cover with cling film and chill for 6-8 hours or overnight if possible.

• When you’re ready to eat, spread the fromage frais over the top of the cheesecake and dust with the extra cinnamon.

• Cut into slices and serve with orange segments.

hen a mum of one from Banbury was struggling to fall pregnant with her second child she decided to try and lose weight to help Mother Nature. Now a mum-oftwo and three and a ½ stone lighter she is able to enjoy a healthier and more active life with both her children.

Back in January 2013 after several disappointing months of not conceiving Melanie joined a slimming group with the aim of losing some weight to aid her conception chances. Melanie explained, “the warm welcome I received at the group was great; I immediately knew I was among friends”.

“Members’ weights are completely confidential, and there was no judgment or discrimination, just warm friendly people.

Everyone is able to set their own target according to their personal choice – which really appealed to me”.

Mum loses weight and gains a baby!

Food Optimising - too generous to be called a diet - also meant that she was able to satisfy most of her pregnancy cravings too – as she was able to enjoy chocolate and crisps – as well as eating healthy options and adapting portion control. Now three and ½ stone lighter and proud Mum-of-two Melanie says “I have never felt healthier and happier” – and “I’m looking forward to being able to play more actively with 5 year old Daniel and 1 year old Rosie than I could have done before”.

As well as the support offered from her Slimming World group at St Hugh’s in Banbury, Melanie’s family have given extra support and have really enjoyed joining her in favourite meals such as roast dinners, and chicken curry – which the children love!

Forty four year old Melanie won Miss Slinky 2014 within her group, and has been nominated for Couple of the Year with her husband, and more recently nominated for Woman of the Year 2015, they now look forward to a lighter future!

After an amazing start and winning Slimmer of the Week several times Melanie realised that not only was this helping her chances of conceiving but she was actually spurred on to losing more weight.

She loved her group so much that she is opening her own at the Cornhill Centre, Banbury from Wednesday 21st October at 7.30pm. I would like to help people on their own weight loss journey, and give them the chance I had”.

She lost 10% of her body weight in six months and success! She fell pregnant.

In addition you will help to support the Pony Club activities, the Riding School and the Livery side of the business. We will ask you to work 5 days per week, which may include some weekends, and we will support you with full training through the Equine Apprentice Scheme and an apprentice salary.
