Copley’s Corner Patty the punters’ pick

Dyna Patty is looking to become the first female By Andrew Copley greyhound to win the Maturity Classic since Mepunga Hayley in 2014.

Group 1 Maturity Classic Saturday 28 July - The Meadows – 525m 1. Dyna Patty (Andrea Dailly) $2.60 2. Tritt Tritt (Brooke Ennis) $5.50 3. Wise Piquet (Jeff Britton) $8 4. Barooga Brett (Brooke Ennis) $10 5. Cavatron (Paul Abela) $17 Dyna Patty (left) is the clear Maturity Classic favourite. Photo by: Clint Anderson.

6. Orson Allen (Correy Grenfell) $7 7. Chief’s Empire (Darren Brown) $6

Dyna Patty has firmed into $2.60 favourtism to win Saturday night’s Group 1 Maturity Classic (525m) at The Meadows after drawing the coveted box one in the $100,000 to-the-winner final. Andrea Dailly’s star sprinter has been the standout performer in the series so far, recording the fastest heat (29.73sec) and semi-final wins (29.80sec).

8. Aston Duke (Seona Thompson) $8.50 Reserves 9. My Redeemer (David Geall) $6.00 10. Jacqui Shoshone (David Crawford) $21

*TAB market as at 24 July

“You can’t complain about having box one in any final,” Dailly said. “The way she (Dyna Patty) is racing at the moment $2.60 looks reasonable value. That said, I suspect she’ll start a bit shorter than that, especially as there is a slow beginner (Tritt Tritt $5.50) drawn in box two.”

Latest odds: https://www.tab.com.au/racing/2018-07-28/G/The% 20Meadows%20(VIC)/Maturity%20Classic% 20Final

“It’s a very hot race though. Orson Allen ($7) can begin like a rocket and his overall times aren’t far off Dyna Patty’s times, so he is capable of putting a lot of pressure on her, while Barooga Brett ($10) is also in outstanding form.”

In memory of Peter, a father of three, Hinkley continues to race greyhounds in South Australia with the Hubbard family, including promising pair Cairnlea Jet (won 10 from 23) and Cairnlea Strider (won 10 from 27) “The dogs we have at the moment are the best dogs we’ve ever had,” Hinkley said.

Tornado Tears is back to his best, with next Thursday’s Victorian National Distance Championship heats next on the agenda. Photo by: Michael McInally.

Tornado Tears made a sizeable statement at The Meadows last Saturday night, defeating a quality field in the Destini Fireball Stayers (725m) by a whopping 10 lengths! In his first start at The Meadows, Robert Britton’s champion stayer returned to his brilliant best form after running unplaced as the $2.00 favourite in the Group 2 McKenna Memorial (595m) at Sandown Park in his previous start. In capturing the $25,000 first prize on Saturday, Tornado Tears defeated Billy’s Bake (Brett Bravo) and Rockstar Patriot (Andrea Dailly) in 42.02sec.

The second half of the two-part series will air on Channel Nine’s Future Stars this Sunday. Check out part one here: https://goo.gl/K8BsrX __________________________________________ GAP heading to Gippsland Victoria’s next greyhound ‘Adoption Day’ will take place at Warragul on 5 August. This is a wonderful opportunity for people to meet our friendly canines and find out what great pets they make. Greyhounds are becoming an increasingly popular family pet option. They also make great office dogs and can easily adapt to living in apartments.

Registration for the adoption day is essential and can be found at gap.grv.org.au. The field also included Tornado Tears’ litter brother, __________________________________________ Rippin’ Sam, who ran an unlucky fourth, and McKenna Memorial winner Out Of Range, who Andrew Copley | Racing Communication injured his triangle in the run.
