Volume 2 Number 48

Thursday 30 August 2018

Greyhound Racing Victoria has today unveiled a new brand as Victorian greyhound racing embarks on an exciting new chapter in the sport’s history. The colourful new theme incorporates the traditional colours of the eight greyhound boxes and will be evident at all 13 Victorian greyhound racing clubs and in broadcasts on Sky Racing. The vivid colour arrangement will be accompanied by a bold V, emphasising Victorian greyhound racing’s point of difference from races held in other parts of Australia. The new look and feel of Victorian greyhound racing will also be complemented by an accompanying tag line “Love the Dogs, Love the Thrills.” GRV CEO Alan Clayton said the new brand represented a renewed emphasis on the spectacle and drama of a greyhound race, while also distinguishing Victorian greyhound racing from other states and countries.

“Everyone involved in Victorian greyhound racing has worked hard over the past couple of years to maintain the highest possible level of integrity in our racing program with a focus on animal welfare,” Mr Clayton said. “With those foundations set, we can also celebrate the beauty of greyhound racing as an exciting, thrilling and dramatic sport that is even more exhilarating to watch

in the flesh. “We love our dogs as well as the thrills of our sport and we want to bring more people in to the wonderful experience of greyhound racing.” The new GRV theming will be seen in signage, clothing and communications in greyhound racing throughout the state. GRV Website

hello fellow grey owners/lovers! Jen Mackay This question gets asked a fair bit but I've never followed the threads... silly me! does anyone have any recommendations for greyhound accommodation for 1-2 weeks over Christmas? our Roy boy has medium-level separation anxiety and is now on medication, so it would be great to have him looked after where he can spend time with other doggos/ Thanks for having us everyone! My husband and I passionate carers. adopted Bert last weekend. He has completely stolen any tips would be greatly appreciated. our heart (and bed and couch). piccy of our handsome man, just cause.* Zoe Heuver We are in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, happy to drive if it’s the right place.

Will Ow, said….. I've always left my boy with family when I go away but if that wasn't an option I'd look up (Google) pet sitters. I met a lovely couple who do it. They love dogs but don't want to commit because of their age and desire to travel themselves. You can meet them in advance and make sure they're the right fit and you might be able to find one nearby so he can still walk in familiar surroundings. Jenny Sifonios said…… Virginia Porter looks after greys in her home. Aussie has just spent 3 weeks with them. I was really happy with his care, lots of love, pats and walks and even sneaking up on beds to sleep with them!

Buddy is so stressed with the travel… 3hours.. never lifted his head! Wendy Alman

Greyhounds in the home FOSTER A GREYHOUND: There are many greyhounds who need a little more assistance to help them settle into pet life They fall into two categories Greyhounds who are transitioning from the track and need help to pass their GAP assessment OR Those dogs who have been a marginal fail at their GAP assessment These dogs are just gorgeous happy greyhounds, the only difference is that need a little more help to transition into pet life The reality is that without foster carers some of these dogs are at risk If you would like to change the life of beautiful dog contact Rebecca and join her team ____________________________________________
