2021 - 202 2

D E A R F R I E N DS , We are thrilled to return to the Venice Performing Arts Center with every concert program and guest artist we had planned to bring you in 2020-21. We knew from your response to these dynamic programs and renowned musicians and soloists, that they deserve to be heard. I am looking forward to being back on stage with our exceptional orchestra, sharing every spectacular moment with you. We open with one of my favorite works, Johannes Brahms’ heart-wrenching Symphony No. 4 and are honored to welcome Thomas Hooten, principal trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, performing Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto. In December, Sarasota’s Key Chorale will return for our holiday pops concert and sing-a-long. Then we go “under the big top” for music from Broadway, the movies, and dance, with vocalist Coya Bailey Jones, accompanied by images and video highlighting our area’s ties to the circus. At A Night at the Oscars, you will have the opportunity to see and hear world-class piper Eric Rigler reprise his haunting performance of My Heart Will Go On from Titanic, along with music from films including Rocky and The Godfather. We hope to see music fans of all ages at Superheroes and Schumann as we pair Schumann’s Symphony No. 4 with music from The Avengers, Batman, and more, accompanied by live action images. Then your chariot awaits for Game of Romes featuring intoxicating opera intermezzos, The William Tell Overture and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4. The season ends with violinist Fabiola Kim, playing the exquisite The Lark Ascending, and fittingly concludes with Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, the greatest finale in all of music.

Troy Quinn, Music Director/Conductor The Venice Symphony

FROM THE PRESIDENT & CEO The one thing that has been a constant during this unpredictable and difficult year has been the encouragement, generosity and optimism of The Venice Symphony’s dedicated supporters and subscribers. When our Music Director Troy Quinn announced his intention of keeping every program and engaging every guest artist for 2021-22, the majority of our subscribers responded by retaining their tickets. This past season, The Venice Symphony was fortunate to have the opportunity to share our orchestra with thousands of people around the world through our free virtual concerts. You told us these concerts soothed your souls and kept you connected to beautiful music. But you also told us there is nothing like the thrill of a live orchestra performance. We cannot wait to welcome you back to The Venice Symphony at the Venice Performing Arts Center. Your seats will be waiting for you.

Christine Kasten, President & CEO The Venice Symphony

The Venice Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the art venue on the campus of Venice High School. Every section in the hall is accessible and there is not a bad seat in the house. The Venice Symphony will follow the health and safety guidelines that are in place during every performance this coming season. Due to this fact, programs are subject to change. Concert information and updates will be available at thevenicesymphony.org.
