Joe Myers has been in the stereo business since 1973 when he started at The Stereo House on Penn Street in Williamsport. He spent 10 years and managed stores in Kingston and Hazelton for The Stereo House
In 1983 Joe moved on to a rep firm to sell Sony Tape Marantz, Sony Accessories, Cerwin-Vega speakers and other lines to dealers in Eastern Pa. and South Jersey.
In 1993 he opened the Stereo Shoppe at 900 Washington Blvd.
Now 52 years latter Joe is going to retire but The Stereo Shoppe will continue in another form The Stereo Shoppe has changed with the times in the last 32 years. In 1993 Car Audio was booming ( in more ways than one ) and we sold two speaker home stereo systems with CD players, turntables and cassette decks.

Over the years car stereo faded and the advancements in Surround Sound Audio and Flat Pannel TV’s revolutionized home entertainment. Now most business is conducted at the customer’s location, so they seldom come to the store. Now having a retail store is “so 1993”In July of 2024 Joe sold the Stereo Shoppe installations business to Direct Solutions who now have the right to The Stereo Shoppe name and phone number 570-323-9014.
The Stereo Shoppe will continue. The retail store will close when Joe retires on the 27th of June.

categories of weeds to be aware of:

Grassy weeds, like crab grass and goose grass may look like regular turf grass, but they’re not nearly as uniform.
Broadleaf weeds, like dandelion and clover, stand out with their wide leaves, bright flowers and seed heads.

Sedges, like nutsedge, looks like grass, but instead have a solid, triangular stem without nodes.

Weeds can also be categorized by their life cycles:
Some weeds, like spurge, are annuala weeds. They sprout, grow and die in one season. Then there are perennial weeds, like oxalis, also known as yellow wood sorrel, or nutsedge, and they come back year after year from that same root clump. It’s also important

When Wildfires Strike, Use These Tips to Breathe Better at Home

NOTE: It is a violation of our Terms of Service to run this story without proper credit. (StatePoint) Recent, out-of-control wildfires in Canada are bringing hazy, dangerous air to American communities, prompting air quality alerts and advisories in multiple states nationwide. With the size and number of wildfires increasing, and fire seasons lengthening, experts advise taking action so you can protect your household.
“One of the single most effective strategies for improving your indoor air quality and breathing better every day, but particularly during events such as wildfires, is investing in the right air purifier,” says Ed Vlacich, CEO of Lasko Products, parent company of Guardian Technologies.

some competitors remove less than 90% of particles, independent testing shows that GermGuardian’s air purifiers remove more than 99.97%. That’s thanks to the devices’ advanced HEPA filtration system, which are designed to efficiently capture smoke particles, allergens and various pollutants.

When it comes to something as important as your family’s health and safety, you should shop for products made by experienced manufacturers that make it their business to over perform. In 2005, GermGuardian set a goal to change the air purifier industry using rigorous and respected testing methods, performed by labs in the United States that exceed industry standards. Today, all its devices are designed and engineered domestically and are ENERGY STAR CERTIFIED, CARB (California Air Resource Board) Certified, ETL Certified and Zero Ozone Verified. While
One model that is particularly well-equipped to help ensure clean, healthy indoor air during wildfires is the GermGuardian 22” 4-in-1 Air Purifier (AC4825E). For added protection, users can pair it with a Smoke Clear HEPA Genuine Replacement Filter, which has over 125 pleats and 8.0 square feet of filter media surface area, and is designed to specifically remove the particles, principal toxins, and some of the leading cancer-causing gases found in wildfire smoke, such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein. Also equipped with UV-C light technology, the AC4825E helps reduce airborne viruses, and its pre-filter traps dust, pet hair, and other large particles, while ensuring longlasting performance of the HEPA filter. If you’re looking for a quick solution for recent wildfires, both products are available on Amazon for fast delivery and will start working immediately to help ensure clean air in your home.
In addition to investing in a high-performance air purifier, you can also make a few lifestyle adjustments and home improvements for better indoor air.
Weather strip and caulk windows and doors. It’s not only an effective strategy for reducing energy bills, it will go a long way toward improving indoor air quality, especially when the air outside is hazy and smoky. During times when wildfires are impacting local air quality, you may also want to limit or avoid activities that create smoke or fine particles indoors, including burning candles, smoking, vaping, or using a gasburning stove. The EPA also recommends during these times to set your HVAC system to recirculate mode and to use portable AC units with one hose sparingly. According to Guardian Technologies, your HVAC system should also always be equipped with a high-quality filter.

Raging wildfires that impact people hundreds and even thousands of miles away are no longer a rare occurrence. Fortunately, there are effective actions you can take right now to breathe better at home.

to know if you’re dealing with warm or cool season weeds. Warm season weeds germinate in the spring and die out in the fall and cool season weeds are typically going to germinate in the fall, mature the following spring and die out as the weather gets hot in the summer.
“These varying life cycles is why weed control is a year-round battle. But thankfully, it’s not as difficult as it might sound,” says Creel.
For most lawns, a preemergent herbicide application in the spring and then again in the fall is the first line of defense, however, the timing shifts every year, so for best results, watch the weather, not the calendar. If your weeds have already sprouted, that’s where your post-emergent herbicides are going to come in. Whenever spraying any kind of herbicide, wear personal protective equipment and follow the label.
According to Creel, it’s often a good idea to use preand post-emergent herbicides together, or to use a combination product to control different types of weeds. In every case, you’ll want to rotate products to prevent resistance and ensure future success.
Of course, overall

Experts advise mowing your lawn weekly for better weed control.
turf health should also be prioritized. Lawns cut weekly tend to have fewer weeds than lawns cut every other week, and if you let your lawn grow too tall and cut off too much to save time, you risk weakening your yard. The rule of thumb is not to mow off more than one third of the blade. Remember, healthy yards fight off weeds
more effectively, so keeping blades sharp and changing up mowing patterns regularly are essential.
