The White Deer Commu nity Park is hosting its 1st Annual Bigfoot & Bluegrass Festival on October 11, 2025, from 10 am to 6 pm. Although early in the planning process, this event is already showing signs of a fun-filled, wellattended event. Currently we have three guest speakers specializing in all things “Bigfoot,” and we have a live band, for two performances. This event will feature several contests for the community to participate in including the Longest & Bushy Bigfoot Beard, Largest Foot (as compared to Bigfoot’s), and a Bigfoot Calling Contest. The Pennsylvania Bigfoot Project will be offering hands-on fun to teach children how to make plaster casings of Bigfoot prints. Along with all the Bigfoot fun, we are also offering a Craft/ Vendor show with up to 75 vendors participating. Thus far, our reach for the craft/vendor show has drawn and booked a vendor from near and far, with the furtherest coming from mid-state Ohio. We are anticipating a large and geographically diversified attending audience, as we are aware that our advertising efforts have reached into upper New York State, Ohio, New Jersey and Maryland. 10/6 Community Theatre League enters its 49th season with a slate of powerhouse productions offering something for everyone. VALLEY HEALTH
(StatePoint) Multi-generational living is becoming increasingly common. However, as families grow and change, so must their homes.
Danielle DeBoe Harper, senior creative style manager at Moen, a leader in water experiences in the home, shares three ways to develop aesthetically pleasing spaces that cater to everyone’s needs.
Create a Connected Kitchen
The kitchen is a place where everyone seems to gather. When planning your space, focus on a layout that fosters interaction. A large island can become a center for conversation, homework and meal prep, while a spacious dining area easily accommodates the whole family. Incorporate booster seats or highchairs for young children and consider seat cushions or chairs with armrests to ensure comfort and ease for older family members.
“Prioritize an environment where daily tasks become effortless for everyone,” says DeBoe Harper. “Products like pot fillers above the stove eliminate the strain of carrying heavy pots of water for younger family members or those with mobility challenges, and touchless faucets help reduce the spread of germs – important in a large household, especially one with children. Plus, hands-free fixtures
don’t require turning or twisting a knob to activate, simplifying the task for kids as well as household members with limited dexterity or arthritis.”
Transform Bathrooms
A well-designed bathroom should
function for all family members. Grab bars in the shower and near the toilet add accessibility and an extra layer of safety for older relatives, pregnant women or those with mobility challenges. The good news is that you can choose decorative fixtures that blend effortlessly with different design styles, from traditional to transitional and even contemporary industrial.
“Even the smallest changes make a difference,” says DeBoe Harper. “Beyond grab bars, a small bench or seating area benefits those with mobility limitations and provides a spot for kids to sit while parents get ready. Dual vanities and mirrors mean less fighting over the bathroom in the mornings! And furniture with spacious drawers or recessed shelving help keep the space organized.”
Fall Yard Cleanup Tips from Lawn Care Experts
(StatePoint) Fall means school is back in session, football season’s beginning, and your lawn is going to need some extra care to stay healthy through winter.
“With the change in seasons, your lawn care routine is also going to change to include less mowing and more dealing with leaves and debris,” says Nick Heiser, product manager at Exmark. “And if you’ve got a lot of debris and material to get up and off your lawn, you’re going to want to do that by bagging when you mow.”
In “Lawn Mowing Tips for Fall Yard Cleanup,” a video on Exmark’s Backyard Life site, Heiser explains that doing so might require switching out the type of blade you have on your mower. While most mowers come standard with high-lift notch blades, which are good for many cutting conditions, for heavy bagging, you should be using an extreme blade. This will do a few things for you:
• It will create an aggressive lift that creates the vacuum and suction needed to pull up debris.
• It will evenly cut up, break down and compact everything on your lawn to help the bagging system do its job more effectively.
Once you’ve cleared most of the debris, you should switch back to mulching for the last few cuts of the season to put nutrients back into the ground and allow the lawn to retain moisture. A micro mulch system, which is an easy-to-use and easy-to-install lawn mower accessory, provides an extra set of blades to break down clippings to a fine mulch, then directs the area of deposit, so you control where the mulch lands.
Finally, fall is the best time for aeration for coolseason grasses. Aeration is essential to ensuring that the roots of your lawn get plenty of air and the
nutrients they need before winter.
To view the video, visit Exmark’s Backyard Life, a unique multimedia destination focused on helping homeowners improve their outdoor living spaces. There you can also download additional tips and view other Exmark Original Series videos.
Now that you’re armed with these fall yard cleanup tips, you can head out to take care of your lawn with confidence.
A bagger-equipped mower is a big asset when it comes to fall lawn cleanup.

Fall 1991 and January 1992 Testimonials: My cousin and his new wife (both in their early 40’s) were visiting my mom, my sister, and I. My sister asks, “So, how did you meet?” They kind of giggled and asked each other, “Should we tell them?” They said they met through the LBYL column. My sister and I decided we would try our fare at meeting “Mr. Right”. (BTW, my cousin and his wife are still married and hopelessly in love.) My sister didn’t have much luck, but in January 1992, I saw this ad that kept drawing my attention. As described, he really wasn’t what I was looking for, but... We met later that month for the first time; got engaged in 1993 and married in 1994. We will celebrate our 25th anniversary this October and we have a 23-year-old daughter who lives out of state. Thank you, LBYL!
