John McVicar, Headteacher at the Primary School is due to retire at the end of this term. John arrived some 15 years ago at a difficult time for the primary school. He quickly built the confidence of the staff, governors and children. He saw a long held dream realised when the school was finally re-modelled and re-furbished with a major building project. This provided a large new hall, new classrooms, a new library, a staff room and many other much needed improvements. During the work OFSTED arrived to inspect the school but John steered the school through these major upheavals with his usual calmness and determination and the school received a good OFSTED report.

John has always demonstrated his commitment to the whole school but most particularly to the children in his care. He has secured the future of the school and will leave a most positive legacy.
John will be much missed by everyone who has known and worked with him not just at Stradbroke but in the many years that he has been teaching and we are all sad to see him leave. However, we wish him a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.! James Hargrave, Chair of Governors Ann Kerr, Vice Chair of Governors.
Friends of Stradbroke Primary School (FoSPS) is run by a committee of dedicated parents. The funds raised by FoSPS at school events have, for example, partially funded school trips and have provided funds in order for the school to redevelop the playgrounds.
The school has two playgrounds, a large field and a number of activity and quiet areas!
The school website is at www.stradbrokevc.suffolk.sch.uk/
Class Four children have the opportunity to learn a brass instrument which is loaned to them free of charge!
The Governing body of the school is made up of staff and Stradbroke residents.
