The evening was filled with shining talent reinforcing the reasoning behind why music is so adored by many and, after all we have been through in the past couple of years, every concert feels like a miracle, most of all when it’s a show sang by our very own . The dazzling mixture of all voices and instruments was described by an audience member as “astonishing!” as many walked away with a few tunes stuck in their heads. The winter blues were very much forgotten as the JWA’s safe haven was filled with the positive aura of talent!

From the very beginning the crowd knew that they were in the right place! Watt House’s Polly Symes (Year 12), Jasmine Wright (Year 12) and Ruby Mills-Kennelly (Year 11) made the art of song writing seem effortless as they transported the crowd to their world of emotion.

New, raw, emerging talent has officially been found at the college, as Alice Lock (Year 9) performed a tear-jerking written remedy that sent the audience to a transformative world. Following closely behind was Ian Tam (Year 9) who wrote performed one of his first ever written songs!

The event will never be the same without the ‘lyrical genius’ herself, Ella Parker, who performed one of her unheard written gems ‘Soul Searching’ . The look of astonishment on everyone’s faces was really the perfect descriptor when trying to articulate just how fabulous this creation of hers is.

A good indicator of a very successful night is when you overhear someone in the audience say, “Wow, he sounds like Elton John!” as Matthew Wakefield (Year 12) gave a very uplifting and energy infused performance!

As always events like these are not the same without the talent from some of the original members of the song writing workshop as Mimi Gould (Year 12), Ben Young (Year 12) and Willow McNulty (Year 12) continued to show their incredible dedication to such events giving the audience many harmonizing melodies to listen to. Never failing to impress…

For a few this event would have been their last… Sav Winston (Year 13), Sasha Rosanov (Year 13) and Sacha Hood (Year 13) all sang their hearts out and continued to show off the Nugent girls’ dazzling skills!

This night, as many would know, is not an easy event to coordinate so a very special well done and thank you to Tom Williams and all the teachers involved for being able to pull this night together. It was truly music to everyone’s ears.

The live band, of course, could not go without mention as they created masterpieces which extracted the real life and soul of music. A immense thank you to everyone behind the scenes of this too. Musical creations like these are not easy to create out of nowhere!

What’s next? Many of the audience members walked away wanting more! Luckily, this array of talent can be found on Spotify if you want to hear more. Just simply type in “Eastbourne College” and you will get to discover the musical genius from the past, present and, as the Live Lounge clearly showed, our future. Incredible!
