FASHION London Fashion Week 2022

London Fashion Week is one of the ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks following New York, Milan and

Paris. It exhibits an influential clothing tradeshow, showcasing an array of designers by displaying their fresh collections on the runway to a global audience of consumers, retailers and the influential media. This year’s London Fashion Week was held from February 18th - 22nd. The event has evolved to promote British fashion designers in the UK and internationally, shaping trends for current seasons as well as those upcoming.

London Fashion Week strikes inspiration from beyond the catwalk with photographers capturing a series of inventive looks and ensembles being modelled through the streets of London by fashion fanatics. London Fashion Week is not only for fully established designers, but the inclusive expressionist event encourages and welcomes emerging individuals into the industry. Central Saint Martin’s numbers of students presenting their work increased from 20 to 32 as they displayed their work of ‘diversity, inclusion, community purpose, and creative solutions’. Inclusivity in catwalk casting has continued to escalate, boosting representation in the fashion industry for body inclusivity.

Standout Shows

Simone Rocha - Simone Rocha administrated her show in the medieval church of St Bartholomew in the city of London, unveiling a collection with the motif of motherhood signifying new beginnings. This incorporated infantile oversized collars and inspired nightgowns. 1 Molly Goddard - Molly’s Fall 2022 ready-to-wear collection was inspired by her inter-generational family memories growing up in West London during the 80s. Her main and iconic feature has to the be the ruffle net dresses and skirts. Goddard has a representation for exploring fabric manipulation and careful construction with transparent materials. 2 Poster Girl - Poster Girl, founded by two young female best friends, has recently had a surge in popularity known for its pop of colour, shimmer and fitting pieces contributing to being one of the most in-demand shows. Its affordability and figure-hugging prices bring a fresh aspect to modern fashioned overruled by oversized pieces. 3
