What Came First? That Chicken and Egg Thing

For as long as I can remember Waltham Chase MCC have managed the "can't get Observers" problem, and I am sure many other Clubs have the same issues.

We beg, we plead, we pay, we double up and still end up with self marking at some Club Trials.

As a result of Covid-19 things will have to change. So, what comes firstthe Trial or the Observers?

We keep on being asked "when are you going to run a proper trial". We are good to go as a club with a Trial and have the venues

ready, but as punch card are no longer an option we will always need 10 or 15 Observers signed up in advance to mark the riders on score sheets, before we request the permit. So, Observers must come first! This may seem a tad radical and so quite different from what everyone is used to – but then everything has changed.

So, as we plan our first Trial after the lockdown, we will be asking members to volunteer in advance to "Observe"
