Tom was a truly valued member of the Club, and one of its longest serving.

He followed in his father's footsteps (who was one of the founding members and Chairman for many years), carrying out the roles of Clerk of the Course at Barham trials, then Trials Secretary, plus Club Treasurer for many years.

Despite his illness and while suffering from dementia he was still sticking stamps on envelopes for Club members and inserting the appropriate TSM or newsletter for the July issue.

With a passion for motorcycles from an early age, Tom was a useful trials rider for many years, competing on Greeves and Montesa before moving on to various Ossa's. He still had a Bultaco in the shed which he'd been threatening to restore for some time. As well as trials he helped organise the Clubs Grass Track and Scrambles events, and was keenly interested in the TT, having been to the Isle of Man with his Dad on many occasions.

Tom was loved and respected by so many for different reasons having lived in the Barham area all his life, while in later years running Arter Brothers garage on the A2 with his brother Cliff.

Covid restrictions are making arrangements for Tom's funeral unusual to say the least - but we will be celebrating his life when we are able. There will be a private cremation the !st of July at midday at Barham Crematorium.

Tom will be passing through Kingston from the top of Kingston Street at 11.30, then passing the Black Robin pub, where a number of Club Members will follow the cortege on their bikes as a mark of respect, along Valley Road into Barham, turning left at the Village Green, up Barham Street, so that as many as would like to can be involved either as he passes through the two villages or by remembering him using the attached link for the live stream of the service.
