Welcome to Family Camp 2024 at Camp Ladore! There is something very special when Salvationists from so many different walks of life get together. We celebrate the unity of the Spirit who draws us together as part of the body. Our theme, Unity of One, is based upon Ephesians 4:3–6: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
Throughout the weekend there are many opportunities to live out this biblical call to unity. Be inspired by the Spirit as we celebrate in worship, bible study, and camaraderie. Engage with our guests, Colonels Mirtha and Ricardo Fernandez and Reverend Dr. Marion Platt. They come to us ready to share God’s Word and wanting to have conversations with you.
We hope you have come prayed up and ready to receive all that God has in store for you.
We love you all!
Stay close to Jesus!
Janet & Larry Ashcraft, Lt. Colonels Divisional Leaders
Reverend Dr. Marion Platt is the sixth Executive Director and Pastor of Star Gospel Mission’s 119-year history. A native of Charleston, SC, Marion served two enlistments as a U.S. Army infantryman before embarking on a nineteen-year ministry with The Salvation Army. He has held executive, academic, and pastoral roles in several cities across the South; he earned his doctoral degree from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville) and is a sought-after lecturer, evangelist, and revivalist. Marion has been a Rotarian for 19 years, sits on the Board of Directors for Trident United Way, and serves on the Faith-Based Advisory Council of the International African American Museum in Charleston.
Colonels Mirtha & Ricardo Fernandez are world travelers, bringing the message of the truth of the gospel to many other countries, including Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico. Commissioned in 1996 as Messengers of the Truth they lived out their session name serving as Corps Officers, Area Coordinators, and Divisional Leaders within the United States and Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands. They also gave leadership in the South America East Territory as Chief Secretary and Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries. They concluded their active service in February 2024 as Territorial Leaders in Mexico.

In 2020, The USA Eastern Territory organized the Territorial Soldiers Express Council (TSEC) with a representative from each command to:
• help the Eastern Territory move forward with speed, vigor and purpose in order to pursue the mission and territorial vision of The Salvation Army
• facilitate an effective means of dialogue through which soldiers of the territory may express their ideas, concerns and opinions in an accurate, well informed and objective manner to Territorial leadership.
The Divisional Soldiers Express Council (DSEC) seeks to serve the same purpose at the divisional level and provides a means of communication to TSEC.
