esteemed vocal faculty, Monica Whicher and Rachel Andrist, and their musical friends present a three concert series celebrating art songs, mélodie, lieder, and other great vocal works, all eloquently programmed around a special theme.

Sunday, March 6, 2016 2pm | MCH An exciting aural concert based on the visual works inspired by paintings and painters. This recital sees GGS alumna Mireille Asselin, soprano, with Brett Polegato, baritone, and pianists Peter Tiefenbach and Mireille Rachel Andrist performing Asselin works by Poulenc, Debussy, Fauré, Wolf, and others. Join us to explore the Finnish-Hungarian connection with works by Liszt, Bartók, Sibelius, and others. This program features soprano Erin Wall, bass-baritone Stephen Hegedus, and pianists Rachel Andrist and Robert Kortgaard. Special guest violinist Erika Raum will join Erin Wall to perform Kaija Saariaho’s Changing Light for soprano and violin.

Soprano Monica Whicher, known for her “lustrous tone and true poignancy,” (The Globe and Mail ) joins pianist Rachel Andrist in presenting the first Songmasters series concert. This program celebrates all aspects of the remembrance theme, from the sentimental and historical to the memories of youth, home, landscape, and country. Tickets: $25
