GOLDEN: THE BARBIE COLLECTION OF BILL GREENING SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2025
AT THE MARRIOTT RTP DURHAM IN DURHAM, NORTH
CAROLINA
PREVIEW 9AM ET | AUCTION 11AM ET
The word “Golden” evokes success, nostalgia, and California sunshine—all of which reflect Bill Greening’s lifelong journey with the Barbie doll. Growing up in 1970s California, Bill discovered Barbie at an early age, eventually evolving from a young fan to a dedicated teen collector, and later, a principal designer at Mattel. His dream became reality when, early in his career, Ruth and Elliott Handler, Barbie’s creators, signed his first Mattelproduced design.
With over 35 years of collecting and 25 years at Mattel, Bill has curated one of the most vibrant and historically rich fashion doll collections. His passion for Barbie’s history led him to uncover meaningful connections—like discovering that his mentor, Kitty Black Perkins, designed the Golden Dream Barbie
from his youth, or collecting dolls tied to Barbie’s original designer, Charlotte Johnson.
His collection extends beyond Barbie to include international dolls, rare licensed products, and other iconic fashion dolls like Tammy and Tressy. Each piece reflects a deep love for the art and history of dolls. Now, collectors have a rare chance to own part of this remarkable legacy—a golden opportunity to add treasures from one of Barbie’s most passionate ambassadors.
There are over 350 lots in the auction. Attendance is welcome, along with live internet and telephone bidding. For more information or to order the commemorative book visit Theriaults.com, call 410-224-3655 or email info@theriaults.com.
