FOR DEEPER REFLECTION:
Question for Children: Who helps you to grow deeper in your faith?
Question for Youth: When the sower, in this week’s Gospel, sowed his seed, not all of it fell in “good soil.” What can you do in the coming week to make sure that you are open to God in your life? What is getting in the way of you being “good soil?”
Question for Adults: Using the parable of Jesus in this reading, describe how faith has been planted in your life? How long did it take for that seed to land “on good soil?”
The Sanctuary Lamp this week is burning for:
Church: Vincent Valentino, Sr.
Requested by Valentino Family
Consider donating the sanctuary lamp that burns in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church or Chapel in honor of a living or deceased loved one. One intention is accepted per week (Sunday - Saturday) for the Lamp. The suggested donation is $25. Request online HERE.

Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in you will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise you for your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Saint Mary Magdalene
Feast Day July 22
Andrew J. Macirowski - Pastoral Coordinator for Worship & Music / Principal OrganistWorship@stmaryscoltsneck.org
Music@stmaryscoltsneck.org
One of the few named women in the Bible, Mary Magdalene was a disciple of Jesus, one of his closest. In Luke’s Gospel, we are told that “Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out…” (Luke 8:2). In all of the Gospels, she is present at the crucifixion and the first to witness the miracle of the resurrection. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells her, “Go to my brothers and tell them: I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God” (John 20:17), after which she announces to the remaining apostles that she has seen the risen Lord. She is the apostle that Jesus sent to tell the others, leading to Pope Francis calling her the “apostle to the apostles” and she has remained a model of faith. Her feast day is July 22. She is the patron saint of women and repentant sinners.

WE NEED YOU!
This saint was born at Bagnorea in Tuscany, the son of John Fidanza and Mary Ritella. He was christened John at his Baptism. Stricken with a dangerous illness as a baby, at his mother’s plea, little John was prayed for by Saint Francis of Assisi. As he recovered, the saint, seeing a great future for the baby, exclaimed, “O buona ventura” O good fortune! Thus did he receive the name by which he was known throughout his life.
Bonaventure entered the Franciscan order at the age of twenty-two and was sent to Paris to complete his studies. It was in Paris that his reputation for genius manifested itself, and here that he became- Read More HERE.

July 22 & 23
Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., is again inviting parishioners in the Diocese of Trenton to support the second annual collection for the Retired, Elderly and Infirm Priests Fund scheduled for Masses July 22 and 23. The collection is part of the diocesan observance of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly established three years ago by Pope Francis to be held on or near the Feast of Jesus’ own grandparents, Saints Joachim and Anne. The collection, which will be taken in all Catholic churches across Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean Counties, will be used to help fund the needs of the retired and elderly priests of the Diocese whose numbers have now reached 85.

We will have a collection box for this appeal at the masses on July 22 & 23. Please be generous.
If you want to make a donation online click HERE.
My Dear Parishioners:
Today we celebrate the Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Only seed that sinks into rich soil can produce fruit; we must let God’s word sink deep within us so that it can bear fruit in our lives! Most of us hear God’s word proclaimed primarily during the Liturgy of the Word on Sundays. It is naïve to think that we can go to Mass cold, without having prepared the readings, and be attuned enough to God’s word to hear and remember the message well enough to live it. One way to live the paschal mystery is to take quality time each week alone or with others to sit with God’s word and become attuned to the message. If we invite others to join us then we are even taking up Jesus’ mission to teach others of God’swonderful deedsof salvation.
This coming week we will continue with our Summer Intensive Religious Education program. We are blessed with facilities that enable us to develop such initiatives throughout the summer months. The July two week module is virtual. This is designed for our parishioner families who may not be in 07722 for much of the summer months and who may be involved in sports programming throughout the year. This style of Summer RE is designed to help families balance the many demands on their time throughout the year with more and more heads of household working outside the home, greater commuting distances and increased involvement in local and travel sports teams. We are fortunate to have as our catechetical staff some teachers from Catholic Schools in our area who are certified educators, fully compliant with VIRTUS Safe Environment Standards and Certified Catechists. I am grateful to our staff for the efforts they have
put into offering this for our parish families and to the parents for their openness and cooperation especially during the various listening sessions that were held along the way. Together, we will continue to build on the strong tradition of Faith Formation that makes our community a great parish.
The summer months provide us with all sorts of possibilities to be outdoors, to share time with family and friends as well as with the Lord when we gather for mass. Sometimes we get mixed messages from the Church. Programs end for the summer, some ministries stop, etc…. However, the invitation to come and pray together each and every Sunday (Saturday Eve) does not end for the summer. Our need for the Eucharist is not seasonal. I do recognize that there are some among us who are blessed with a second home to enjoy throughout the summer months and I trust that Sunday Mass is part of your routines. However, for those of us who remain home, let’s not neglect our obligation and the need we have to support one another in our parish community.
We are in the early stages of preparing our Annual Stewardship Report for Calendar Year 2022 & Fiscal Year Ending 30 June 2023. The staff as well as other parish leaders will put a lot of time into providing you with an accurate and transparent report of the goals for the coming year(s) as well as the successes and challenges of the past year. You should have this document available sometime mid October 2023. This document will be posted online and emailed to all of our registered parishioners. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer. Happy Sunday. Peace.

• Instructions to crochet a sack are HERE
S.A.C.K. (Supporting A Community with Kindness) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization where people from all over the world knit/crochet sacks and then donate them (with a bar of soap in each one) to homeless shelters, food pantries, veteran clinics, social service agencies and relief efforts. Since S.A.C.K. was founded in 2017, over 140,000 soap sacks have been donated globally! The response to these soap sacks are overwhelmingly positive especially since people cannot purchase toiletry items such as soap with government subsidies such as food stamps. The mission of S.A.C.K. is to spread kindness, one sack at a time. Our soap sack donations help to send a message of dignity, hope, love, compassion and health…..emotions that can restore a person, both physically and emotionally. Small actions make a huge difference! For more information about S.A.C.K., please check out our Website: www.soapsacks.com

The Breath of the Mystics is an inspiring study of mystical prayer based on the teachings of Eastern Christian Mystics and major contemporary theologians. Fr. George Maloney SJ connects our current revival of contemplative prayer with our Christian roots that go back to the Desert Fathers and Mothers of the 3rd-5th centuries, once Christianity became the “state religion.” It feels good connecting with these Christian ancestors that inspired Thomas Merton, Thomas Keating, and their contemporaries. Led by Jerry Washko. Donation: $175
