Camillus de Lellis, Soldier and Priest, 1550-1614
Born into an aristocratic family at Bocchianico in the Abruzzi province of what is now Italy, he grew swiftly to be a big man six feet six inches tall and similarly proportioned. When Camillus was seventeen, he went off with his father to fight with the Venetians against the Turks.
During this sojourn, Camillus became infected with a disease in his leg which was both painful to him and repulsive to others. This disease was to hound him for the remainder of his life. Admitted to the San Giacomo Hospital for the Incurables in Rome, Camillus developed a gambling habit. Read more HERE.

WORSHIP & MUSIC
Andrew J. Macirowski - Pastoral Coordinator for Worship & Music / Principal Organist
One of the few named women in the Bible, Mary Magdalene was a disciple of Jesus, one of his closest. In Luke’s Gospel, we are told that “Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out…” (Luke 8:2). In all of the Gospels, she is present at the crucifixion and the first to witness the miracle of the resurrection.
In the Gospel of John, following the resurrection, Jesus tells Mary, “Go to my brothers and tell them: I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God” (John 20:17), after which she announces to the remaining apostles that she has seen the risen Lord. She is the apostle that Jesus sent to tell the others, leading to Pope Francis calling her the “apostle to the apostles” and she has remained a model of faith throughout the centuries.
Her feast day is July 22. She is the patron saint of women and of repentant sinners.
Coming Soon also to Noon Mass!

JULY 19 & JULY 20
The Church’s observance of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, July 27, 2025, is also a time to remember and care for our “spiritual grandparents,” Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M., said in announcing the annual collection for retired and elderly priests.
Scheduled in the parishes of the Diocese of Trenton at Masses July 19 and 20, the special collection for the Retired, Elderly and Infirm Priests Fund is a way for the faithful to thank the more than 80 retired priests who have given the witness of their lives of faith, many of whom still continue to offer Masses and share the Sacraments in our parishes.
The Bishop states, “I invite all the clergy and faithful of the Diocese, once again, to show the generosity for which I have come to know you so well by contributing to the fourth annual collection for the priests who truly are our spiritual grandfathers. They, too, deserve our love and gratitude in their twilight years!”

My Dear Parishioners:
Quo vadis...
Today we celebrate the Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. Before we can carry on the mission of Jesus as disciples we must become the disciples by sitting at the feet of Jesus listening to him. In our time today we can hardly invite Jesus over for dinner. But there are ways that Jesus is present to us if we take the time to be present to him. We usually address living the paschal mystery in terms of how we die to ourselves in our everyday living. This gospel suggests a radically differentand complementary-way of living the paschal mystery: taking the time to listen to Jesus. Practically speaking, this means being attentive to the proclamation of the Scriptures (especially the gospel) during Mass. It means taking the time to be with Jesus in prayer-not just saying prayers, but being quiet and listening to how Jesus speaks to our hearts. There is truly a great deal of self-sacrificing in letting go of our “busyness” in order to listen to Jesus!
Our Summer Religious Education Module I began last week. This first module is being conducted virtually. I am grateful to all those who work to make this opportunity such a great experience for our young people and a good way for families to fulfill their need to educate and form their children in our Catholic Faith. Welcome parents and children. We are offering another module during the month of August. Module II will be held on campus.
During the months of July and August, some of our parish staff members will be taking much needed time off for vacation
or just to be with their families. While we have worked very hard and deliberate to cross-train our parish staff members, there may be some questions or circumstances that need to wait for their return. I am very grateful for your understanding this and for your kind cooperation.
Later this month, actually this coming week, the universal church observes the Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne, the maternal grandparents of Jesus according to the customary of our church. This is a wonderful time for us to reflect on the role of grand-parenting as well as praying for those who are grandparents.
His Excellency, the Most Reverend Bishop of Trenton asks all parishes to collect funds in support of our distinguished retired priests of our diocese. A collection bin is n the narthex this week and a QR code is in the ebulletin and in the narthex for your convenience. Please consult the electronic bulletin for details. Next weekend we will welcome Father Peter Short from the Diocese of Gallup, New Mexico, which serves seven Native American tribes in New Mexico and Arizona.
Don’t forget to participate in the Sunday Mass here in our parish or, if you are traveling, find a Roman Catholic Church in order to observe the Sunday obligation and to continue to receive the Eucharist. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer. Happy Sunday. Peace. Father Jeff

The People of Texas Need Our Help
By BISHOP DAVID M. O'CONNELL, C.M.
Torrential rains and devastating flash flooding have brought disaster to parts of central Texas, with over 100 people including children at Camp Mystic killed as the search for survivors continues.
I remember as though it were yesterday the catastrophic damage experienced by the people of New Jersey, especially along the Jersey Shore, as a result of Hurricane Sandy when it made landfall on Oct. 29, 2012, leaving over two million households, parishes, churches, schools, hospitals and nursing homes without power. Hurricane Sandy claimed the lives of 38 people in New Jersey and some sources cite even a higher number depending on how indirect fatalities were counted.

With the help of state police, first responders and government agencies, I visited some of our parishes along the Jersey Shore. During one of those visits, I recall celebrating Sunday Mass at St. Rose Church in Belmar with no electricity, joining parishioners in praying for needed relief for families and all those affected by the superstorm in New Jersey.
The Catholic Church in our Diocese responded with incredible generosity along with considerable support offered from dioceses across the United States. What a tremendous witness to the Gospel call to love our neighbors! Once again, the Gospel reminds us to reach out in love, charity and prayer to the victims of a natural disaster, this time in Texas.
At his Angelus message this past Sunday, July 6, our Holy Father Pope Leo XIV prayed for the victims and families of the recent devastating floods in Texas. Speaking in English, Pope Leo XIV expressed his heartfelt condolences “to all the families who have lost loved ones – in particular their daughters who were at summer camp – in the disaster caused by the flooding of the Guadalupe River in Texas in the United States. We pray for them.”
As always, Catholic Charities USA was quick to mobilize a response. Here in the Diocese of Trenton, we cannot forget how people – Catholics and otherwise – reached out to us in New Jersey in our time of devastation and need 13 years ago: dozens perished; 346,000 homes damaged or destroyed; entire neighborhoods flooded or swept away; billions in economic losses. Now is the time for us to respond in prayer and generosity to yet another national tragedy. The people of Texas need our help.
Please donate today to Catholics Charities USA (catholiccharitiesusa.org) – all funds will support local recovery. May God be with the people of Texas in their time of devastation and need.
