On September 25, 2010 the Ayala Foundation USA hosted their Philippine Development Forum and Gala at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. Twenty representatives of P4 volunteered as ushers and auction spotters at the event. About one thousand prominent and influential individuals attended the event to hear newly elected President of the Philippines, President Benigno Aquino III speak about the positive impact of the Ayala Foundation as well as his goals for his country during his term as president. Vice Chair of the Ayala

Foundation, Fernando Zobel de Ayala, as well as Richard Blum also spoke at the event.

Different fundraising events were conducted during the Gala, including the selling of bids for Tiffany and Co. boxes, a Silent Auction, and a Live Auction. Eleven lots were being auctioned off during the Live Auction and the Ayala Foundation was able to raise a significant amount of money for the Fund a Need organization to build an elementary school in Tondo, Manila as well as other various organizations. As a result of the great turnout and active participation of the

foundation’s supporters, the Gala was a great success.

First Associate Meeting!

Along with PAHC and PASAE, P4 worked conessions at Cal’s football games to raise money for the organization. A proceed of the profits were allotted to P4 and allowed for great team building opportunities.

The P4 Infosession on September 1st welcomed the largest turnout the organization has ever seen! A notable amount of first years and third year transfers were able to meet the partners through a gameof Human Bingo.

Partnership for Pre-Professional Pilipinos

The first official associate meeting of the year took place on September 27, 2010 from 7-8:30 p.m. in 79 Dwinelle. All of our associates were able to interact and meet for the first time, since not everyone could attend the Associate Development Day. Fernando Valenzuela, a California State Auditor, gave associates insight about professional candidacy and how to get involved with working/interning for the State.

Continuing the Haas Sponsorship Each year, Haas sponsored organizations must reapply for Haas sponsorship by presenting their case to the Haas Business School Association’s Executive Vice President (DAC Chairman) Chris Hammond, Haas Director for Admissions Janet Amador, and Haas Executive Director for Undergraduate Programs Erica Walker.

To do so, P4 was required to comply to several guidelines in order to become a part of DAC, the Director’s Advisory Council at Haas. Guidelines include having one major event open and publicized to the Haas community per semester and not asserting that becoming a member of P4 would guarantee admissions into the Haas Undergraduate Program.

This year, we are fortunate to maintain our Haas sponsorship along with 17 other organizations. We look forward to collectively meeting once a month with DAC, the 18 Haas sponsored organizations, in order to better collaborate with each other and share our best practices and resources.
