Hello and welcome, Lets hope the kids aren’t driving you mad at the minutes. Lets also hope you have a little change in your pocket for a cheeky drink this weekend! Lets get straight down to business this month. Whilst on TNT Breakfast Club this week, Boss Lady brought to my attention Conor McGregor racist rants to Floyd Mayweather. I was shocked to say the least. Ms Pelts had just left a conversation were she had stated she thought McGregor was okay. Lets just recap for you guys: First Conor said on the opening stages of the North America and Europe tour. And I quote - “Dance for me, Boy”! This clearly had racist over tones and is a racist comment in my opinion! Again mainstream media overlooked it! Oops: Again in New York, “I’m Half black from the belly button down”. Before insinuating black people were “ Dancing monkey’s” when discussing the film Rocky III on a chat show. - Racist comment! and yes you guest it, overlooked by mainstream media! It’s all totally uncalled for, lets concentrate on the sport and show true sportsmanship. Is it really too much to ask? Mayweather on the other hand, got the back ripped out of him by mainstream media. This was in regards to calling McGregor a “Faggott”. I believe that was more to do with his attire with pink leggings and a white patterned fur coat. Rather than his sexual preference - Really Conor? That was definitely a

bad fashion choice, you really need to sack your stylist. Swiftly moving along Last month edition, we dealt with - Camera’s for child safety, Manchester Parade, Love Island. As well as Dave Chapelle donating thousands to Flint water crisis. Venus William’s cleared of wrong doing in fatal car crash. To GrenFell Tower charity single. And of course the stunning wedding nuptials of Anthony and Dorretta. This month we have a whole lot more. From 200 new jobs at Media City - Manchester. New female ‘Doctor Who’, Manchester Friends of the Earth air pollution investigation. Teacher joins army reserves in Kenya, taste of Mexico in Manchester to Jay Z VS Kanye, Pride and London carnival. Not forgetting the 2017 London Olympics and we bid a fond farewell to Usain Bolt and a hearty cheer for all winners and competitors who represented. Yes guys lets not forget, the Caribbean Carnival of Manchester (CCOM). Affectionately known as “Moss Side Carnival”. See you guys in the park and outside on Claremount road for the liveliest party on earth. Till dawn on the streets of the affectionately known “Moss”. I will be there with Ms Pelts, Boss Lady and Wray and his Nephew - (If you know, then you know). I’m feeling hot, hot, hot. Until next month, be cool.

Manchester Friends of the Earth air pollution investigation TNT News An investigation has been launched by a group of Levenshulme parents and Manchester Friends of the Earth. The investigation into air pollution across Levenshulme, has revealed shocking levels of air pollution. Manchester Friend of the Earth have said if air pollution levels were as bad all year as they were for the duration of the study this could mean that residents across Levenshulme would be blighted by illegally polluted air. Each year in the UK its been suggested that air pollution causes 40,000 early deaths and stunts the development of children’s lungs. The Levenshulme investigation started after local parents became concerned about air pollution and possible links to common breathing problems locally. Including high incidences of wheezing and use of inhalers amongst babies and toddlers.

Manchester friends installed monitoring tubes at locations where levels of air pollution were considered to be worrying. Such as, outside schools and nurseries and on the A6 Stockport Road. The parents group monitored levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in six locations in Levenshulme. Near Chapel Street Primary School, Grange School, Littleways nursery and Arcadia leisure centre and library. They have stated, every single result was over the legal limit. One air pollution recording at Stockport Road and Matthews Lane was almost twice the legal level, hitting 72.41 ug/ m3. The pollution was monitored for two weeks, providing a snapshot of NO2 pollution for that time. NO2 is a toxic

gas which inflames the lining of the lungs. The legal annual limit for NO2 is 40 micrograms per cubic metre (ug/m3). There are no safe levels of exposure to air pollution.

Coronation Street actor Jennie McAlpine backs breastfeeding campaign Tuck into books and lunch at Fallowfield Library

TNT News Coronation Street actor Jennie McAlpine has given her full support to a brand new campaign. The campaign is set to get restaurants and cafes to declare themselves breastfeeding friendly. Her city centre restaurant Annie’s became the first in Manchester to be awarded the Manchester Breastfeeding Friendly mark. She hosted a group of breastfeeding mums at the restaurant last week during World Breastfeeding Week (1-7 August). Businesses are being encouraged to sign up to a new breastfeeding welcome scheme in Manchester. Support mothers who want to breastfeed their babies in the city. The Breastfeeding Friendly Mark is a sign that restaurants and cafés can put in their

window or door to alert people they are a breastfeeding-friendly business. The initiative comes from Public Health experts within Manchester Health and Care Commissioning (MHCC). It is part of the life course approach in Manchester with the focus on starting well. The UK has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the world. Health professionals want to change this and to encourage mothers to breastfeed their babies for the first six months. Research shows this has huge health benefits both for the mother and child. Doctor Who: First ever female to play the Time Lord TNT News History has been made this year, as we now have the first female ‘Doctor Who’. BroadChurch’s Jodie Whittaker has been chosen to step into the role of ‘The Doctor’ in the 13th season. Peter Capaldi announced he was leaving the programme and a debate had been stirring over who should be the next Doctor.

TNT News An army of volunteers were on hand at this August to create floating islands. These island will help attract a raft of fauna and flora to the city centre canal. The project is part of a move to increase the quality of the city’s green spaces and waterways. Breathing new life in to the area to create an attractive new space that would be otherwise underused. Following a similar project in Boggart Hole Clough, the Bridgewater Basin will see six floating habitats launched into the water. This will support active ecosystems, improve biodiversity and water quality in the basin. Working in partnership, Manchester City Council are BDP, Bridgewater Hall, Petersfield Group and the Friends of the Rochdale 9. They have enlisted international aquatic scientists from Biomatrix to design and build the floating green spaces. Around 25 volunteers from Manchester City Council and the Friends of the Rochdale 9 will help create the islands. They will attract a range of new wildlife. Including bees, dragonflies and other insects. Below water the ecosystems will also attract a range of fish species.

Jodie Whittaker is the first woman in the drama series to be cast as the Time Lord. Head writer and executive producer Chris Chibnall said “I always knew I wanted the 13th Doctor to be a

woman. Her audition for the Doctor simply blew us all away”. Huddersfield-born Whittaker, who made her debut in BroadChurch, said it was “overwhelming, as a feminist, to become the next Doctor”. A female doctor is what many viewers over the years have been eagerly waiting for. A female doctor will bring a fresh new outlook to the drama. Whilst delivering the gripping fantasy that ‘Doctor Who’ has always given. Whittaker will make her debut when The Doctor regenerates in the Christmas Special.

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health says the UK has one of the lowest rates in Europe for breastfeeding. Estimating only one per cent of British mums breastfeed their babies until they are six months old. Arguing breastfeeding in public is still often stigmatised. This year teacher, Agnes Nate, at Child Jesus primary school in Moroto municipality was given two weeks suspension. Head teacher Sr. Rosario John Masawe, suspended Agnes for breastfeeding her three month old baby at school. It has also been suggested that school children should have breastfeeding introduced into the school curriculum. This would stress to pupils the importance of breastfeeding. The Royal College recommends the subject is covered in personal, social and health education (PSHE) classes. It also recommends that mothers should be supported to breastfeed. Breastfeeding would be recommended up to the age of six months.

They will accompany the onscreen nuns with live performances of songs from the film soundtrack. “We are delighted to be touring, this powerful and uplifting live cinema experience” says founder, Dele Aro. The show has had two successful, sold out runs in London in Autumn 2016 and April 2017. Dele added “We were delighted to see the shows connect

such a large diverse group of people together, to share a unique experience and create new memories around a much-loved film”. Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Vegas lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier (played by Whoopi Goldberg), who after witnessing a murder at the hands of her boyfriend has to enter witness protection to avoid a similar fate. she finally finds her voice at the heart of the church choir. Sister Act Live Choir will feature the Uplifted Voices choir for the show, who have featured on BBC Gospel Proms. Provided backing choirs for the live shows on ITV’s The Voice, Britain’s Got Talent, and The X Factor shows. Leeds West Indian Carnival was founded in 1967 by Arthur France as a remedy for the homesickness for his native St Kitts & Nevis.

At the roots of the Notting Hill Carnival are the Caribbean carnivals of the early 19th century – a particularly strong tradition in Trinidad . Which were all about celebrating the abolition of slavery and the slave trade.

Bringing phenomenal costumes, rhythmic steel pan and soca music. Together with the arts, crafts and cuisine of the Caribbean. It is Europe’s longest running authentically Caribbean carnival and is said to be one of biggest outside London.

TV Documentary highlights feud between Jay Z and Kanye

What’s On

TNT Entertainment Hip Hop’s biggest selling artists Jay Z and Kanye are truly Hip Hop royalty. With platinum albums and a worldwide fan base. But after watching the documentary Public Enemies – Jay-Z vs Kanye on Channel 4, the S’*@ has hit the fan. Fans all over the globe have taken to social media to air their seeming contempt for Jay Z and empathy for Kanye. The documentary has been debated throughout social media Q. Did Jay Z use his former protegee? - or was it just business. Q. Did Jay Z shelve Kanye? - don’t you always eliminate the competition. Q. Were they ever friends? - or is business, business. The Channel 4 documentary followed the two Hip Hop stars personal background and illustrious careers. They talked to industry representative, former friends and had rarely seen before footage to illustrate the brewing feud between Jay Z and Kanye. However Jay-Z and Kanye did not contribute to the documentary themselves. Social media was ignited, asking, had Jay Z ‘used’ producer and rapper Kanye, and ultimately Kanye was more talented than Jay Z. It was also stated “The man is a genius” again referring to Kanye. While others stated in rebuttal, Jay-Z was already a star, music mogul, credible rap artist and had Roc-A-Fella Records music label. Thus propelling Kanye to fame and fortune. Also stated in defence

of Jay Z was - business is business and its not Jay Z’s job to play nurse maid to a budding primadonna. Arguably the pair formed a friendship when their joint selling platinum album ‘Watch The Throne’ was released. Then a sold out world tour ensued. To the world, Kanye threw the first public stone and was filmed onstage ranting about his mentors lack of support at that time in his life when he needed him. Kanye: ‘Jay-Z call me bruh, you still ain’t call me. Jay-Z I know you got killers. Please don’t send em at my head. Just call me [sic]’ Shortly after the public rant Kanye was hospitalised, for a nervous breakdown. Begging the question, did he need a reason to explain away the outburst or a place to hide from an OG? Whatever the reason Kanye has undoubtedly struggled with his mothers death and his wife very public and traumatic robbery. While Kanye continues to lead a very public life, Jay Z still guards his private life and plays his cards very close to his chest. Lets not forget, they seemed to be outwardly getting on, before his celebrity marriage

to Kim kardashian and his global fashion line. Nevertheless, Kanye is reportedly recording his next album - Lets hope he keeps Jay Z out of his mouth, as he doesn’t want - ‘99 Problems’ For Jay Z, 4.44 has been released and he’s concentrating on a cleaner persona. Appearing to come clean and apologise to Beyonce, about his alleged indiscretions over the years. Kanye would hope Jay z doesn’t become too ‘Heartless’.

The Co-operative TNT Business

Business in brief 10 Bad Habits To Break, IF You Want To Be Successful In 2017 TNT Business

TNT Business The Co-operative bank has reported pre-tax losses of £135.2m. All in the last six months to 30 June 2017. This is compared to losses of £177m a year earlier. The reason given for pre- tax losses not being a severe as first thought, were lower operating income due to the low interest and healthy competition in the UK mortgage feild. Also continued investment, restructuring and recapitalisation programme. The Co-op also saw ten branches finally close their doors, although originally announced in March. Chief executive Liam Coleman: “The capital raising proposal we announced in June is progressing to plan and is currently on track to conclude by September. This will secure the future of the Co-operative Bank as a viable standalone entity with greater capital strength enabling a new phase in its turnaround. “Against this backdrop, business performance in the first half of 2017 has been resilient. Customer satisfaction for the service we provide has increased and we have continued to reduce our cost base. Customer relationships are hugely important to us.

At the beginning of each year we make new resolutions, but these resolutions keep fading with each passing month. We are more than halfway through 2017, but still these bad habits are clinging onto us! So, what are these bad habits and how do we get rid of them? These are my favourites: 1. Cut-off negative people: Let go of negative people in your life. People who make you feel less about yourself and make you question yourself – just get rid of them. 2. Stop procrastinating: We have the tendency to push things to a tomorrow that never comes. Don’t push things back: if you have to do something do it today.

3. Don’t always say “Yes”: Everyone has 24 hours in a day, what matters is how you spend these hours. People who say yes to everything tend to waste their precious time and over exert themselves on unnecessary tasks. Stop saying “yes” to everything. Embrace “no.” Empower “no”. 4. Let go of your phone: Stop wasting your time submerging your head in phones, browsing on social media for hours. Go outside and experience new things. A fresh view on the world may lead to your next breakthrough! 5. Prioritise things: Does your job matter to you more or your dreams? Prioritise the things that matter the most to you for a more fulfilled existence.

Afro Hair TNT Business What is your brand name? Afro Hair Solutions How long has your business been in existence? Two years in July What was the inspiration behind starting your business? I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur, particularly in the beauty industry. Why did you decide to do what your business does? In 2012, I suffered major setbacks to my hair. My hair was very damaged. I decided to research afro hair care and read The Science of Black

Hair by Audrey Davis-Sivasothy. I realised I was doing many things wrong with my hair regimen. This is when I learned about things like chelating shampoos, deep conditioning etc. It was frustrating to me that I couldn’t find affordable, natural hair products that catered towards afrotextured hair. So, I took a course on how to make “Hair Treatments”, and decided to make natural hair products. The products helped improve my hair so I decided to take it to market, to help men and women going through the same thing. Briefly describe your business (what is your niche?).
