20th Annual Candlelight Service of Remembrance Submitted

Loss comes in many forms, whether it be a loved one, a pet, a job or loss of community as we relocate to a new city or town. It can be particularly difficult to cope with these losses during times when others seem happy and upbeat. Christmas can be one of these times. Whether you identify as Christian or not, the decorations, gift-giving, hearing others talk of spending time

with family and the perceived and unspoken pressure to be “happy” and “in the Christmas spirit” may leave us feeling sad and alone. Although we all cope with grief in different ways, it has been shown that connecting with others can help offset our feelings of loneliness and isolation when they arise. It is with this in mind that Akasu Palliative Care, Park Memorial Funeral Home and the Vegreville Ministerial

Association invite you to this year’s annual Christmas Candlelight Service of Remembrance. This interdenominational service was established in 2000 to provide a safe space for those suffering a loss to reflect on the past and celebrate the present with the support of community at a time of the year when feelings of grief or loss may be more frequent or seem overwhelming. Our guest speaker this year will be

Caryl Ziprick-Potts who will share her personal story of loss. Please join fellow community members for the 20th annual Christmas Candlelight Service of Remembrance. The service will be followed by refreshments and fellowship. Come alone, come with a friend, bring a child. Everyone is welcome.
