Graham Godlien is the newest member of village council in Chipman. Goldien was officially sworn into office during council’s regular meeting on December 9. Godlien was welcomed aboard by fellow councilors Toni Nygren and Morris Langevin. In his campaign letter that was mailed to residents prior to the byelection, Goldlien stated that while the past few years have not been kind in Alberta economically, that “novel thinking” and “innovation” will be required in the future. “There is always another way of doing things. Having been of this community for as long as I have been a part of it that has always been the case.” Godlien, who has resided in the community for the past 11 years, said he would like to pursue a transportation solution that would allow citizens

Vegreville AB – It is with sincere sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Mr. Paul

Sembaliuk. Of Mr. Sembaliuk’s many creative accomplishments,

he is most noted for the design of our Pysanka monument, which has become a cornerstone of the Town’s visual identity and tourism industry. Mr. Sembaliuk’s creative vision and passion for Ukrainian culture resulted in a vital economic driver for our region. In 2019, a survey conducted through the Town of Vegreville’s Visitor Information Centre showed that 55% of participants came specifically to see our famous Pysanka. The Town also estimates that during the peak of the 2019 tourism season, over 25,000 individuals visited the Elks/Kinsmen Park, the home of our Pysanka. The Vegreville Chamber of Commerce will be forever appreciative of Mr. Sembaliuk and his contribution to our Town, and we extend our condolences to his family and friends.
