Graham Godlien is the newest member of village council in Chipman. Goldien was officially sworn into office during council’s regular meeting on December 9.
Godlien was welcomed aboard by fellow councilors Toni Nygren and Morris Langevin.
In his campaign letter that was mailed to residents prior to the byelection, Goldlien stated that while the past few years have not been kind in Alberta economically, that “novel thinking” and “innovation” will be required in the future. “There is always another way of doing things. Having been of this community for as long as I have been a part of it that has always been the case.”

Graham Godlien was officially sworn into office by Keiron Willis, Administrative Assistant for the Village of Chipman, on December 9.
Godlien, who has resided in the community for the past 11 years, said he would like to pursue a transportation solution that would allow citizens to travel to other communities. He also stated that rural crime also needs to be addressed, as well as advancement in the area of economic development. At that time he promised to “work hard” for the community and make it a “place of choice” for community living in Alberta.
Godlien said the spirit of volunteerism is strong in the community and was previously involved in the development of the village’s website. He also said he teaches seniors how to use computers and assists people who have been victims of internet fraud.
