Heritage House Christmas Party

Rosanne Fortier News Correspondent Santa came bearing gifts of huge bags of popcorn which he gave to every resident of Heritage House on December 14. The jolly guy in Red’s company was followed by entertainment by the band, The Swinging Seniors. The group has been around for 20 years. Some members have changed over the years and other former members passed away. The band members are from Edmonton and Spruce Grove. They performed Big Band music from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, country, rock n’ roll, old fiddle tunes, Ukrainian tunes, and Christmas songs. “We cater to seniors. There is very little money in performing music. We play and sing music to minister to the seniors and to lift up their spirits. This is something different for them to do and enjoy. Our music brings back fond old memories,” said Ralph Mauer, who sings and plays ukulele player for the band. Mauer introduced “the band’s fearless leader” Colleen Karp
