“Up and Coming News from Nancy Cartwright”

Just From Nancy… I have a problem I am trying to solve. I’ve been publishing The Nancy News for nearly 15 years. The circulation is nearly 16,000 going to folks as far away as Australia and Ireland. The only problem that I see is that my staff and I have been so productive that we haven’t been able to get out as many issues as originally intended! But in the scheme of things, when I look at what would really constitute a “problem” for me, like having permanent laryngitis, I guess I don’t really have much of a problem here! I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to see some of the amazing animated films out there. There are a couple of them that truly have me hooked. Bolt and Wall-E. LOVE, LOVE, LOVED THEM! The heart of each film is in the story. They are pure examples of successful movies, both box office and artistically. I think Bolt is one of the most inspiring pups ever animated and John Travolta’s nuances as the voice of Bolt make you wish you had a tail! And Andrew Stanton and Ben Burtt bring the heart and soul to life in this film with very little voice contribution. The star of this movie is truly “sound” as Ben Burtt brilliantly contributes. These are “must sees”. Recently, I have been getting a lot of mail from HUGE Simpson’s fans. They are mostly guys from 18-26 years old. HUGE fans. They write unbelievable letters telling me that they were raised on The Simpsons or even more amazing: they learned to speak English watching the show! So if anyone out there thinks The Simpsons has “run its course” I say to thee, “Simpsons forever!” And finally, with this New Year…make it 2000-andMINE! Do everything you can to be the best YOU, you can be! Flourish, prosper and do well! For the Nonce,

Nancy

POKER POKER POKER When the hangover of our The Third Annual Monte Carlo Night and Poker Party, which was attended by more than 450 people and featured surprise musical numbers from Nathan Osmand, DeeDee O’Malley and Dominic Domingo, finally subsided (there is an open bar), it was right back to business. While PALS was getting construction on its new youth center underway, we were planning our Third Annual Happy House Poker Tournament and BBQ. It’s a more laid back affair. The Happy House Tourney raised money for Nancy’s non-profit and saw t-shirt-and-jean-clad Co-Executive Director Peter Kjenaas take first prize.

You Can Go Home Again! On June 4th Nancy will deliver the Keynote speech for graduates of her high school alma mater, KetteringFairmont in Kettering, Ohio. Drama teacher, Ross Taylor, invited Nancy to speak to the students. “She’s just about our most famous native ‘son.’” Possible topics and examples of “Kettering’s finest” include the Wright Brothers or Mr. Kettering himself, the inventor of the electric car starter, but we know that Nancy is sure to inspire a new generation of inventive Americans as they head out on the road to discovery.

El Mariachi Nancy may have a new series on the Cartoon Network. The show is called El Mariachi and is sort of a blast from the past. Three years ago, Nancy recorded some sample voices for a show that, at the time, was just a twinkle in the eyes of our Australian friends. Well, our friends at Studio Moshi, who worked with us on The Kellys, never gave up on the show. They came out to Nancy’s home in Los Angeles to record the lead character, Ricky, and his crime-fighting alter-ego, El Mariachi. Drawing his powers from his magic mustache, Ricky is the only force who can stand up to El Bosso and his evil plans. The show is being pitched to Cartoon Network so stay tuned and look for El Mariachi and his mustache soon.

The Good Choices Toolkit Our new Practical Character Building Toolkit will soon be available from Happy House for individuals, families, home school children, public and private schools and after-school groups. This is a fun, simple and effective program that takes almost no preparation to deliver to children from pre-school up to their early teens. We will provide a toolkit and support services that will help everyone interested in character education to build a better world for our youth. You can check on the availability of the toolkit by visiting www.happyhouse.org and feel free to send us emails with your questions about and/or interest in the program. We are lining up training and delivery programs now.

Changing a Country at War In November 2008, artists Jimmy Collins and Sleven Rucci-Airo went to the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo and drove deep into the front lines of an escalated conflict between government and rebel soldiers to handdeliver copies of the non-religious common-sense moral guide, The Way To Happiness™. Their first mission into the Congo proved to be such a success that they are planning an even greater effort to bring peace and hope to one of the most dangerous and chaotic places on the face of the planet in March of 2009. They hope to return to the Congo for a two-month journey up the Congo River. Nancy hopes to join them on at least a portion of the trip, helping to distribute The Way to Happiness™ booklets and spread a message of peace and hope. After decades of warfare and suffering, the Congolese people are asking for peace and a workable solution to their problems and it is Jimmy and Sleven’s goal to bring just that.
