At Drew, weemphasize connections, experiences, and opportunities, while building asense of community.

Small community. Big opportunities.

Drew University offers the best of all worlds. Our prime location in Madison, New Jersey, provides the comfort and security of living in one of the safest college towns in the country, on a gorgeous, tree-filled campus. Plus, students have easy access to aworld of exciting learning opportunities on campus, in New York City, and beyond.

Our seven New York Semesters bring students into the Big Apple to explore and make meaningful connections with industry professionals and guest speakers. Students immerse themselves in these one-of-a-kind programs on Wall Street, the United Nations, contemporary art, New York theatre, communications and media, social impact, and museums and cultural management.

Don’t be fooled by small classes and a tight-knit community—big things can come from small packages.

Don’t just take our word for it…

Drew just welcomed an historically-large first-year class of more than 400 students

and set aschool record for new transfer students.

And it’s not just students who are noticing Drew. It’s rankings season, and the accolades are pouring in:

•Drew leapt into the top 100 liberal arts schools in U.S. News &World Report’s2023 rankings, one of the largest jumps in the nation.

• U.S. News also ranked Drew among the country’s top 10 for social mobility, measured by aschool’s ability to enroll and graduate a significant number of Pell-eligible students.

• Washington Monthly moved Drew up 26 spots to number 73 in their annual rankings of top liberal arts schools.

•Drew once again made The Princeton Review’sBest 389 Colleges list, receiving top 25 marks for Best College Theater and Lots of Race/ Class Interaction. Earlier in the year, the outlet named Drew as aBest Value School for the fifth straight year.

No matter where you go to college, these years are going to be big. But if you choose Drew, they will be so

much more, and they will happen at a nationally-ranked school that prepares you for great things.

Big experiences lead to bold futures

One of the reasons for Drew’s huge jump in U.S. News’ latest rankings? Their methodology put more weight on student outcomes this year, priming Drew for a major boost.

We know college is the launchpad to a student’s future. For all the big things that undergrads will do as students, nothing is as exciting as what they’ll do after Drew, and we help prepare them for that future.

Our students are routinely admitted to the most prestigious graduate schools in the country, like Georgetown, Harvard, Penn, and Princeton. They land jobs at global powerhouses like Amazon, Apple, Disney, and Google.

Drew also makes it easier on our students to land at top grad schools through our 19 Dual-Degree programs with schools like Columbia, Duke, and NYU, in fields like business, cybersecurity, engineering, law, and medicine.

3Myths of Cyber Charter Schools

More than 60,000 students attend one of 14 public cyber charter schools in Pennsylvania. While cyber charter schools have grown in popularity, so, too, have the voices of their critics. Many students find success in being able to learn in adifferent way. Let’s break down some of the biggest misconceptions about this education option.

Myth #1: Students in cyber charter schools don’t have opportunities to socialize.

Cyber charter schools offer an array of social activities, both online and in-person. Students interact with peers and teachers in virtual classrooms through discussions and projects. Online clubs allow participants to explore shared interests with peers. Families can mingle in-person at field trips to zoos, museums, and historical sites. Prom and graduation ceremonies mark key milestones and capture traditional aspects of high school.

Myth #2: Cyber charter schools are private, for-profit schools.

Cyber charter schools are, in fact, public schools. The Pennsylvania Department of Education oversees cyber charter schools’

financial reporting and sets their academic and curriculum standards. Like their brick-and-mortar counterparts, cyber charter schools do not charge tuition and are funded by taxes—the primary difference is where the students learn.

Myth #3: Only one type of student attends a cyber charter school.

We often hear the stereotype that cyber charter schools are primarily for students with behavioral issues; however, they support abroad range of learners. Students from all backgrounds enroll in cyber charter school because their previous school wasn’t the right fit for them. Some want more academic challenges. Some need special education support. Some have time-intensive extracurricular activities, such as athletics or creative pursuits, and flexible scheduling enables them to pursue their passion.

If your child’s current education situation isn’t working out, perhaps acyber charter school is abetter fit. Learning online isn’t ideal for everyone, and that’s okay. However, gone are the days when education is one-size-fits-all. Visit pacyber.org to learn more.

Howtomakeapplying to college less stressful

Applyingtocolleges is exciting formanyhigh schoolstudents. But that excitement is sometimes tempered by anxiety. Thecollege application process can affect students’ lives foryears to come, so it’sunderstandable whysome teenagersmight feel stressed as they apply to college.

The National Center forEducational Statistics says 69 percent of high school graduates in theUnited States enroll in college thefall after graduatingfromhigh school. Many students begin applyingtocollege before enteringtheir senior yearof high school. Students can employ various strategies to makeapplying to college less stressful.

Create an inventoryofstudent experiencesand awards

When completingtheircollege applications, students submit a varietyofmaterials. In addition to students’ trackrecords in theclassroom, schools will be interested in kids’ extracurricular activities, hobbies, volunteer work, andeventhings they do during their free time.

Parents and students can work together to develop amaster list that includes information about what students have accomplished duringhigh school. These may include involvement in certain clubs, participation in sports teams, advanced rankinginscouting programs, or even alist of books

read. Havingthis document handy will makeitthat muchsimpler to fill out college applications.

Investigatethe Common Application

TheCommon Application began as aniche program forselectprivate liberal arts colleges, but nowhas grownintoanorganization that services more than 750schools. The organization enables students to create an account andcomplete onebasic form that will be accepted by all institutions whoare members.
