Student Council Promotional Group come to the School Hall, where dance teachers from a dance studio, Dance Dimensions, taught them some hip hop moves; The Council also organised a mufti day for the Blind Foundation, where we raised nearly $700; Reading to Team Kiwi (Juniors), as part of the school’s Book Week; and A mufti day in which the school raised nearly $600, as well as another mufti day for Kiara’s Angel Walk, in which we raised over $500. When you also include the school’s contribution to the World Vision 40-Hour Famine Appeal of $3,500 the charitable donations made by our school community is well over $5,000.
This term, Silverdale Primary School Student Council members have decided to elect a different Chair and Vice-Chair Person. They have also changed the groups that they work in when they get together. Two groups from last semester; the activities group, who plan small events like mufti days, and the fundraising group, who plan fundraising events to raise money for charities, are joining forces. Last semester, the Student Council took part in planning many events for the school, such as: The Year 5-6 dance day, in which students from Year 5-6 could

This semester, the Student Council is involved in presenting submissions and ideas for the development of Metro Park West in Millwater, at a community meeting organised for September. The students will also be busy organising the Year 8 graduation at the end of the 4th term in December. They are also helping in the preparation of our school’s Country Show Day. Country Show Day is a fun event held on Saturday 29th October and it is the school’s main fundraiser. There will be stalls set up all throughout the school. If you would like more information, there will be a website coming soon. So: another busy few terms ahead – but that is just how the Silverdale School Student Council likes it!
