millwaterbookofthemonth “The Free Range Cook Through the Seasons” by Annabel Langbein This month, Millwater resident and book club member, Diana Lakin, reviews another book for us – this time a well-recommended cookbook: Cookbooks, cookbooks – oh, so many Cookbooks… There is a plethora of cookbooks on the market, to tantalize and whet our appetites – but not all cookbooks are deemed equal. Believe me; I have a “library” of cookbooks that I read religiously, mentally devour and occasionally cook from. I have picked this fantastic cookbook with delicious illustrations and easily manageable recipes to review, as I think it offers a diverse range of easy recipes that actually work. I have made several recipes from this book, all of which have turned out exactly as they appear in the cookbook. Annabel also offers some great tips on flavouring food, using herbs rather than shop bought spices (which sometimes contain unknown ingredients and, surprisingly, SUGAR). Also some interesting garden tips for growing micro-greens. Bon appétit !
