36 Put your best foot forward at Orewa Podiatry

Considering the work our feet do, most people take little notice of them – that is, until something goes wrong and they begin to hurt!

“If you’re suffering from foot pain, the best thing you can do is seek professional help”, says podiatrist Paul Hames of Orewa Podiatry, and adds “Don’t just ignore the problem and hope that it goes away, as a small niggle can often develop into a more serious issue if left untreated”.

Paul graduated from the New Zealand school of podiatry in 1999 and is a member of Podiatry New Zealand. He also has a post-graduate diploma in sports medicine (PGDipl SM) from Otago University.

At Orewa Podiatry, Paul treats clients of all ages who have all manner of foot and ankle problems – whether it be foot or walking problems in children or overuse injuries caused by physical activity in the adult. “Your feet are under stress all day: walking, running and being squeezed into shoes can lead to conditions such as corns, calluses, ingrown nails and heel cracks. These are often painful and recurring conditions that can easily and painlessly be treated during a general treatment session”.

When you visit Orewa Podiatry, your consultation will involve a full history-taking assessment, with the latest techniques and therapy tailored to meet your individual needs. This will include walking and running assessments, to investigate posture and lower limb function.

“General assessment of the feet is a core part of my podiatry practice. I understand that everyone is different and I aim to provide personalised care that gets results”, says Paul. Paul confirms that, after fourteen years in the job, he still enjoys the huge and varied array of work and the chance to help people to stay active.

So, if you’re suffering from cracked heels, blisters, ingrown toenails, aching feet, heel pain or other foot pain, why not pick up the phone and make an appointment at the ‘Life Pharmacy’ today?
