10 died in France within apartment building fire, including 5 children

At least ten people, including five children, were killed in a fire in an apartment building on Friday in Vaulx-en-Velin, France. At 3:25 a.m., 65 fire trucks and 170 firefighters responded, and by 6:30 a.m., the fire was out. Vaulx-en-Velin Mayor Hélène Geoffroy tweeted: Following the terrible incident that occurred last night, our city is in mourning. My deepest sympathies go out to the victims' families." According to her, the city has fully mobilized to assist families. The "terrible fire in Vaulx-en-Velin" victims' loved ones received condolences from French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin via tweet. "Provisional toll stands at 10 people dead, including 5 children," Darmanin tweeted. A suburb of Lyon is Vaulx-en-Velin. There were injuries to 14 people, including two firefighters. The fire's cause is still unknown. The fire could have been caused by a criminal act, which is still under investigation by the regional prosecutor's office. Darmanin told correspondents Friday that "dealers," a term used to portray street pharmacists, were captured at the apartment complex a few hours before the fire. However, he stated that it is still premature to conclude that the fire is associated with those arrests.
