A top Ukrainian authority said on Friday that upwards of 13,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since the Russian attack began in February, however others have put the figure a lot higher. According to Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, official evaluations conducted by the president and general staff indicated that between 10,000 and 13,000 soldiers had died defending the country against Russia. However, US General Mark Milley stated last month that 100,000 Russian and 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed since the war began. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, appeared to back up Milley's figures in a statement on Wednesday before retracting her claim that that was the number of people killed and injured. Zelensky will speak on the figures himself, according to Podolyak, "when the right moment comes." Yaroslav Yanushevych, governor of the Kherson region, said that Russian shelling had killed three people and injured seven over the past 24 hours on the battlefield. He claimed that Moscow's troops struck the region 42 times. Some disabled people from Russian-controlled Kakhovka along the eastern bank of the Dnieper River will begin to be evacuated, according to officials appointed by Moscow in the southern Kherson region.
