Jacquie Murrell is a woman of many hats, talents, and gifts. With degrees in Business Management and Psychology, she embarked on her entrepreneurial journey in 2010, after years of building operational structures for various businesses. Her path has been nothing short of inspiring. Seven years later, she not only became an accomplished author but also launched three additional businesses, all while sharing her story of resilience with youth and families across the United States. This commitment to empowerment led her to numerous radio and television appearances, culminating in her hosting her own shows, including the popular “Relationshipology” and #ImPOSSIBLE Radio Show, both of which have gained recognition on Listen Notes as top podcasts.

In 2016, Jacquie’s vision expanded when she became the CEO of a radio media platform that quickly reached over 200,000 listeners across 66 countries within just eight months. With a jawdropping operational structure, she created a platform that not only entertained but also informed and uplifted individuals from all walks of life. “I wanted to give people opportunities that they might not otherwise have,” she explains, emphasizing her mission to plant positive content in a media landscape often filled with negativity. Her experience culminated in 2017 when she launched a television show aired in the Midwest, Florida, and California on Comcast and AT&T U-Verse cable networks, further extending her reach.

Despite a brief hiatus, Jacquie is gearing up for a new season of her acclaimed radio shows. Listeners can expect refreshing content as she returns to the airwaves with “Relationshipology” and #ImPOSSIBLE Radio Show, promising to deliver the same authentic and empowering messages that made her podcasts a success. Her dedication to fostering a supportive community continues to grow, with a network of individuals and organizations that thrive through collaboration and mutual support.

As a mother, mentor, speaker, life coach, and serial entrepreneur, Jacquie Murrell embodies the essence of E.G.O. (Empowered Greatness Optimized). Her journey serves as a powerful reminder that we all hold the authority to maximize our unique gifts destined for greatness. With her unwavering commitment to empowering others through media and her innovative approach, Jacquie is proving that the possibilities are indeed endless.

What inspired you to start E.G.O. Entertainment, and what were the key moments that led you to establish it in 2017?

After I released my life story (parts 1 and 2, both best sellers) and launched a successful mentoring and counseling program, I began speaking to youth and families across several states about the obstacles I overcame to keep pushing toward my dreams. This led to several radio, television, and podcast interviews, eventually opening the door for me to host my own radio show on two radio stations.

As I continued to grow my businesses and help empower others, I was given the opportunity to have my own radio station and I operated as the CEO of that radio media platform in 2016. Within 8 months, I expanded it to reach over 66 countries and more than 200,000 listeners.

However, things took a turn when my silent partner started stealing from the company and did not want to give me the correct share of the company after going behind my back and claiming 100% ownership. Essentially, they wanted me to build a company from the ground up and run it for pennies and lied about a partnership. Because I built it from the ground up, I decided to shut everything down, took all my intellectual and physical property, and started E.G.O. Entertainment Network. Media wasn’t even on my radar at that point, but I re-launched the radio station as JQLM RADIO, and it just took off. All the listeners and 90% of the on-air talent followed. Then, God led me to continue expanding into other media divisions, and now it’s grown into this major multimedia network.

Can you share how your background in psychology and business management contributes to your work in the entertainment industry? Specifically, how it relates to you talking to people on your show?

I firmly believe that if you’re not mentally and emotionally stable or healthy, it impacts every other area of your life—and that’s a proven fact. For example, if you’ve got trust issues from trauma or low self-esteem, it can affect how you operate in business, limit your ability to form successful partnerships, or even cause you to self-sabotage opportunities meant to help you grow. My life experiences, combined with my business and psychology degrees, allow me to share tips and lessons with my audience, whether I’m talking to entrepreneurs on the Business Bangers Spotlight Show, interviewing guests with incredible comeback stories on the #ImPOSSIBLE Radio Show, or chatting with celebrities on the JQLM Radio Special Edition.

Your motto is “Everyone is a Star!” How do you apply this philosophy in your work with clients, particularly those from underrepresented communities?

I treat everyone with respect and go the extra mile to ensure they receive top-notch service. I especially love doing this with the homeless community because I know what it's like to be treated as less than and I know what it feels like to be homeless among other things. Whether someone is famous, well-known, or not recognized at all, it doesn’t matter —status and money don’t change how I treat people. I want everyone to feel seen, cared for, loved, and know that they and their dreams matter. Since I wasn’t always treated that way, I make it a priority to do so with my clients, especially those who are underserved, both youth and adults.

Your podcast features talented individuals from around the world. What do you look for in guests to ensure they resonate with your audience?

What I look for really depends on the show they want to be on, but overall, guests need to be energetic, able to answer questions quickly and effectively, relatable, and willing to be transparent.

As a mentor and speaker, how do you aim to empower the youth and families you engage with, especially in sharing your own stories of overcoming obstacles?

As a speaker, I focus on delivering information with a specific topic in mind based on the platform I’m on. I make sure to explain the topic, highlight the issues, discuss how to overcome them with actionable steps, and emphasize key takeaways—all while giving live demonstrations so they can really see what I’m talking about. I love using demonstrations to drive the point home.

I also do this through my company, BounceBackology. Besides being an online apparel and shoe store that gives you badass confidence you can wear, it acts as a daily reminder of how far you’ve come, who you are, and what you’re capable of. We also offer interactive group sessions and support that teach people how to bounce back from trauma and hardship, helping them live a healthy, happy, and successful life both personally and professionally. This applies to youth, adults, and families.

It can also be a refresher for those dealing with burnout or depression. I’m all about putting in the work, and the program includes incentives, demonstrations, and group activities. It’s truly unlike any other mentoring or counseling program.

Plus, I use my books, radio shows, and TV/film content to inspire, empower, and educate as well.

The BounceBack program has 5 phases in addition to group support discussions:

Operation Rock Bottom

Stepping Into Healing

Can you discuss the importance of community service in your life and how it has shaped your approach to business and media?

Serving others is what I was created to do, and my life is centered around service after God. Community service is crucial to me because I’ve realized that my life is a testament to what God can do. It’s about knowing who you are, whose you are, your purpose, where you’re headed, and how to achieve it. The “why” comes in when I recognize that everything God allowed me to go through was necessary—every mistake, every challenge. It all prepared me to serve others. He didn’t bring me through it just for me to sit on it. The gifts, talents, and lessons I’ve gained from adversity are essential for me to execute my purpose.

Because of this, I approach business and media with a heart to serve. Everything I do must help someone in some way. That’s why I go above and beyond, because I want to see others win. I’ve taken a lot of hits in life and been knocked down, but I still win. So, whether I’m serving a client, or am on-air, on a red carpet, if I'm being interviewed on TV or radio, or for a magazine or blog, or even if I'm featuring someone else, I see it as an opportunity to serve. I’m being used to help them move closer to their dream. Everyone is meant to be used, but not misused.

In what ways do you see media evolving in the area of podcasts and radio shows, and how do you plan to adapt E.G.O. Entertainment to stay ahead of these changes?

Honestly, I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum, and I don’t plan on changing that. On the business side, radio and podcasts are definitely on the rise in terms of reach, but that only works if you’re set up to scale according to your audience. Radio offers a broader mix—advertising, music, news, and more all in one place, while podcasts are more focused on specific topics and can also bring in advertising.

For me, radio is a way to connect with the masses, not just with entertainment, but with education and meaningful messages. If you’re in radio or podcasting and you build or grow a platform around what your core audience really wants, you can’t go wrong. I don’t chase trends. I chase purpose— because I operate with a purpose, on purpose, for a purpose. I’m not worried about what’s popular; I’m focused on what’s effective for providing my audience with what they need. It works well because, let’s just say, I’ve got favor. And favor can take you places popularity can’t—and keep you there. Just saying… LOL!

What challenges have you faced as a black woman in the entertainment industry, and how have you navigated those obstacles?

At first, I think some people didn’t take me seriously because my background is in communitybased work, business development, and counseling/mentoring. But after I dominated the radio space worldwide in just 8 months, I started getting the respect I deserved in the entertainment industry. I work hard for everything, and the funny thing is, I’m working hard to help others, not just myself! Some people used to try and treat me like I was "small," and some still do, but I just smile and remind them that there’s nothing small about me, my assignment, or my purpose— because I serve a BIG God.

One of the biggest challenges has been getting others to see that I’ve created something for everyone, without all the red tape, because I am the red tape. I go out and make the connections and build the relationships needed to help those who might feel like they don’t have enough to be in certain spaces. It’s about getting people to see that in a space where there are no little You’s and big I’s, everyone can thrive because we understand that we all play an essential role in making this work, no matter what your function is.

I’ve navigated those obstacles by staying true to who I am, being consistent in what I provide and do, and holding firm to my ethics and morals. I’ve never tried to fit in—I was created to stand out. All I am and have accomplished is because of Him.

Looking ahead, what are your goals for E.G.O. Entertainment in the next five years, and how do you envision impacting the broader media landscape?

In the next five years, I want E.G.O. Entertainment Network to expand to at least three more states, creating more opportunities and jobs in the industry. I want us to be the go-to network and platform where people come to share, launch, or grow content, advertise, market, or get featured. I also aim to see our new TV & Film Network produce and distribute at least 50 projects by 2026 and gain at least 25,000 subscribers. We’re well on our way.

Additionally, I see us making a major impact on how media is distributed, by creating a wave that includes a conglomerate of a diverse range of media platforms and partners that deserve recognition, support, and inclusion. I want to help individuals and organizations deliver their messages to the masses without having to pay a hefty price for every little thing. My goal is to set an example that we should support those who support us, and not just focus on the platforms we consider popular or “big” that require an arm, a leg, and your life savings to be part of. Those platforms are necessary, but E.G.O. is here to change the narrative—they’re not the only ones that hold value.

As I engaged with listeners and guests on "Listen Linda!", it became clear that my platform was not just a creative outlet, but a powerful tool for empowerment and advocacy. I saw the potential to inspire women, share valuable insights, and foster connections, which motivated me to commit fully to this journey. The desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others solidified my commitment to growing and enhancing my podcast career.

PS: Who are your major influences in the podcast industry?

JC: My major influences in the podcast industry include trailblazing women who have successfully leveraged their platforms to inspire and empower others. Figures like Oprah Winfrey stand out for her ability to connect deeply with her audience and create transformative conversations. Additionally, podcasters like Brené Brown, known for her work on vulnerability and courage, have profoundly shaped my approach to storytelling and authenticity. I also draw inspiration from fellow women entrepreneurs who are committed to uplifting others, as their journeys resonate with my mission to empower women in their personal and professional lives. These influences encourage me to continually strive for excellence and remain focused on the positive impact I can make through my podcasting efforts.

PS: Do you come from a family of podcastors or writers?

JC: I do not come from a family of podcasters or writers, but my passion for storytelling and communication has always been a significant part of my life. Growing up, I was inspired by the stories and experiences shared by those around me, which fueled my desire to express myself and connect with others. This foundation led me to pursue opportunities in writing and eventually to launch my podcast, "Listen Linda!" While I may not have a family background in these fields, my commitment to empowering others through storytelling has become a driving force in my career. My birth mother (Marvella Morrison was a Journalism major in college before she fell in addiction, and her mother was a Editor in Chief of her schools newspaper and stage manager for the school theater and that was huge being she was the only Black PERSON in her entire class.)

PS: I found out that you also write books. Do you still write? Tell us about your writing experiences?

JC: Yes, I continue to write, and my experiences in writing have been both fulfilling and transformative. As a 6x bestselling author, I've had the opportunity to share my insights and stories through various written works, allowing me to connect with readers on a deeper level. Writing has enabled me to explore themes of empowerment, resilience, and personal growth, which align closely with my mission to uplift women.

My writing journey has also complemented my podcasting efforts, as both mediums allow me to express my passion for storytelling and advocacy. Whether through books or my podcast "Listen Linda!", I aim to inspire others to embrace their journeys and pursue their dreams. Each writing project has been a unique experience, providing valuable lessons and opportunities to engage with a diverse audience, ultimately enhancing my ability to make a positive impact in the community.

PS: What do you like best about writing?

JC: What I like best about writing is the ability to express thoughts and emotions in a way that resonates with others. Writing allows me to delve into my experiences and share insights that can inspire and empower readers. It's a powerful medium for storytelling, enabling me to connect with people on a personal level and foster a sense of community among those who may share similar challenges or aspirations.

Additionally, writing is a form of self-discovery for me; it helps clarify my thoughts and feelings, making it a therapeutic process. I also appreciate the creativity involved in crafting narratives and the opportunity to explore diverse perspectives. Ultimately, writing is not just a passion but a vital part of my mission to uplift and inspire women through authentic storytelling.

PS: What advice can you give other individuals who want to enter the podcasting profession?

JC: My advice for individuals looking to enter the podcasting profession is to start with authenticity and passion. Identify topics that resonate with you and that you genuinely care about, as this enthusiasm will shine through in your content. Don’t be afraid to share your unique voice and perspective; it’s what sets you apart in a crowded space.

Invest time in understanding your audience and what they seek from your podcast. Engaging with your listeners and being open to feedback can help you refine your approach and build a loyal community. Additionally, focus on the technical aspects, such as audio quality and editing, as these elements significantly impact the overall listening experience.

Finally, be patient and persistent. Building a successful podcast takes time, dedication, and consistent effort. Embrace the learning process, celebrate your progress, and remember that every episode is an opportunity to grow and connect with your audience.

PS: Any other interests outside of podcasting and writing?

JC: In addition to podcasting and writing, I have a rich background in modeling, having modeled for BMG and won pageants as a child. I continued to pursue freelance modeling until the age of 27, which helped shape my confidence and communication skills. Music has always been a significant part of my life; I was a singer before my thyroid cancer diagnosis, which led to the removal of my thyroid and part of my vocal cords. Despite this challenge, I still find joy in music and appreciate its power to uplift and connect people.

Outside of these endeavors, I have a keen interest in advocacy, particularly in raising awareness about health issues and empowering others to share their stories. I also enjoy exploring creative outlets such as photography and fashion, as they allow me to express myself visually. Engaging with my community and supporting women on their journeys are passions that drive me beyond podcasting and writing, creating a well-rounded approach to my career and interests.

PS: Any new projects or collaborations coming up soon?

JC: I have several exciting projects and collaborations on the horizon! I'm currently collaborating with Harvey NPO as their branding strategist and sponsoring their PLAA Gala, where my sons, the YoungSavedLeaders, will be recognized with the Presidents Volunteer Service Awards for their impactful contributions to the community through their bestselling books. Their works, “My SuperPowers Are Not Weird,” which addresses dealing with autism and bullying, and “The Honorable Bee,” an anti-bullying and self-love empowering book, are both faithbased and resonate deeply with many.

Additionally, I'm gearing up for the release of "Women of the Waiting Room: Surgery for Your Soul Devotional Volume 2," and I'm actively seeking co-authors to join this inspiring project. I'm also in the process of putting together a documentary based on "The Women of The Waiting Room," which will showcase our stories and experiences.

Moreover, I’m pitching my bestselling award-winning memoir, "Mountains Can’t Rise Without Earthquakes," to different networks in hopes of securing a movie deal. On top of that, I'm launching a new TV channel on the Women Win Network titled "Women of the Waiting Room Channel," which will highlight the journeys and triumphs of women overcoming challenges.

These initiatives reflect my commitment to empowering others and sharing impactful stories, and I’m excited about the potential collaborations and opportunities that lie ahead!

PS: Tell us about your books and what inspired you to write them?

JC: My books are a reflection of my personal journey and the diverse experiences that have shaped my life. Each title carries its own unique inspiration and message:

1. **"It Can’t Always Be Night: Poetic Memoirs of a Grown Girl"**: This collection of poetry captures the complexities of adulthood, weaving together themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. I was inspired to write this book as a way to explore my emotions and share relatable experiences with others navigating similar challenges. Poetry became a therapeutic outlet for me, allowing me to express my thoughts in a creative and impactful way.

2. **"Mountains Can’t Rise Without Earthquakes"**: This memoir chronicles my battle as a homeless and neglected child, my parents journey before and after I was born and my lessons I learned along the way. The title symbolizes resilience, illustrating how personal growth often comes through difficult experiences. I wanted to share my story to inspire others facing their own battles, encouraging them to find strength and hope in adversity.

3. **"Chitown Diamond in Da Ruff"**: This book showcases the beauty and grit of Chicago, celebrating the fictional story of Diamond who had to overcome challenges in the city. It serves as a tribute to the resilience of its people and the vibrant culture that thrives despite hardships. My inspiration came from my own lives and those I witnessed around me growing up. So many untold stories wrapped in one but also suspense, thriller, mystery and hopeless romance.

4. **"Women of the Waiting Room: Surgery for Your Soul Anthology"**: This anthology brings together the voices of women sharing their experiences with health challenges. The project was inspired by the need for a supportive community where women can find connection and encouragement during difficult times. It emphasizes the power of storytelling as a means of healing.

5. **"WOTWR Devotional"**: This devotional aims to provide spiritual guidance and comfort to women facing health issues. It was inspired by my own experiences and the desire to create a resource that empowers women to navigate their journeys with faith and resilience.

6. **"WOTWR Self Love and Affirmation Journal"**: This journal encourages self-reflection and promotes selflove through affirmations and prompts. It was inspired by the belief that nurturing self-worth is essential for personal growth and healing.

7. **"Our Journey from Girls to Women"**: My newest collaboration as a co author with PaProVi Publishing explores the transformative journey of girlhood to womanhood. This project was inspired by the shared experiences of women and the importance of mentorship and support in navigating life’s challenges.

Each of these books reflects my commitment to storytelling as a means of empowerment, healing, and connection. Through my writing, I hope to inspire others to embrace their journeys, find strength in their stories, and foster a sense of community among those facing similar challenges.

PS: What was your most favorite/memorable podcast to date?

JC: One of my most favorite and memorable podcast episodes to date is "Just Me and My Mountains." This episode was particularly special as it served as a tribute to my own story and honored my father, who passed away during the Covid pandemic. Sharing my journey in this episode allowed me to reflect on the challenges I've faced and the growth that has come from them, making it an emotional and heartfelt tribute.

Another memorable episode was my interview with LaTonya Perossier, the author of "Letter to the 8 Year Old Me." LaTonya's courage in sharing her traumatic childhood experiences resonated deeply with me and our audience. Her insights into healing and self-acceptance were powerful, and it was an honor to provide a platform for her story.

Both episodes encapsulate the essence of my podcast, where we explore personal journeys and the strength found in vulnerability. These conversations not only have impacted me personally but have also provided valuable lessons and inspiration for our listeners.

Miss Watley Presents Miss Watley Presents Old School Tuesday Turn Up Old School Tuesday Turn Up

Miss Watley Presents Miss Watley Presents Old School Tuesday Turn Up Old School Tuesday Turn Up

Teresa B.: Tell us how did you come up with the concept of your podcast?

Pricilla Watley: So, for “Old School Tuesday Turn Up” it kind of came at a whim for me because I have a degree in media. So, I knew I wanted to interview entertainers. That was my thing, I always wanted to be on the red carpet. So actually, I got my very first chance for a celebrity interview back in October 2019 when I was out in LA. And actually, my first show was really called “Word on The Street”. And that concept was because I was a huge fan of Martin. So being a huge fan Martin and me and Martin had a lot in concept with his show and everything. But by that time, COVID hit. So, one day, I remember being on the phone with a friend and telling him about this show I had already. And I was like, this name, he was like no, say it like this; and wind up becoming “Old School Tuesday”, because I was a fan of really old school anything. Music, TV everything that of course is the reason why its old school. Then the Tuesday thing; I used to be a juvenile officer and I was off on Tuesdays, and that is how the Tuesday part came in. Baby, and the turn up. it was a concept for me. I love to turn up even though it's hard to believe but I love to turn up. If you give me in an old school vibe. I'm turning up. My definition of turned-up is probably a little bit different from everybody else, …

Teresa B.: right

Pricilla Watley: but I turn up. So, if you put it together, it became Old School Tuesday Turn Up. So, the development stages came really October of 2019, but I had already started my interview for that show before I had the production. So, I had started the summer of 2020, therefore when I got my producer and everything, that's when it came full circle. It became the whole thing and then it took off from there. And now it's three years successfully; it’s been going for three years strong. So, there you go.

Teresa B.: Okay, and how did you find your producer? Did you know that person?

Pricilla Watley: No. So, no that was by the grace of God and luck. I got lucky. I knew a guy here in Atlanta, only because of an artist, a singer who I knew, she was friends with him. And so, at that time they were doing a show, and my producer, his name is Tallboy. He's not only my producer, he's my brother, my show partner, he's like family now. So, they were doing a show and I remember seeing it and one of the guys who was on there. I knew him, and I hit him up on FB Messager. I'm like, hey, do you know any producers? By this time, I had already gotten my very very first interview to get ready to start my show. Because like I said, the first one really came that summer but I did it over the phone and through my Facebook. If you would have seen think that interview, oh my God, it looked… It was a good interview but it was so low budget. So, you know how people low budget it. It was that kind of forum – low budget.

Teresa B.: Look that's all my videos. lol

Pricilla Watley: I remember being in my room at my computer desk and he's telling me “I'm about to drop some knowledge on you” right now. Mind you it was all new to me. I'm trying to write this stuff down. The person who was supposed to be on, was supposed to be on in September. She didn't really come on the show till October. Because she pushed everybody back and I want to be her very first at that time, sit down interview. And the person winded up being Evelyn Champagne King, that's big. She was the very first person to open up Old School Tuesday, …

Pricilla Watley: Turn Up, season one episode one. Okay, so by time he and I talked (Tallboy the producer) and everything I went on and hired him and I never looked back after that.

Teresa B.: Forty- eight wow. Okay and out of the 48 episodes. Can you tell me which one was the most memorable?

Pricilla Watley: Whew, Oh my God. Some people may forget theirs, but the one that was really memorable for me is Kangol Kid. He was from the group UTFO. He did the song Roxanne Shante. Roxanne, Roxanne, I want to be your man. The reason why that stuck out to me so much is because we made the right decision that night, we talked to him on the phone. And we were like let's go ahead and interview him now, and it worked perfectly. And if you go back and watch the interview, he's all happy, he smiling. I also had Chub Rock that same day, the same night and everything. It was my first time where I did two back-to-back interviews. I never done it after that, only just Chubb Rock and Kangol Kid. I never know how that happened like that but the grace of God, it just went like that. And Chubb blessed the interview and Kangol showed up. It was the best interview, all fun and having fun and everything. I was sitting at work two days later; it was a Thursday because my show was on Tuesday. I remember it was February 2021, and I was at work and he made an announcement. Come to find out he had cancer, and I remember being at work crying because in the interview it didn't show all that. He was just so happy. Then December 2021, I was at work and someone hit me up that he had passed away. So that was heartbreaking.

Teresa B.: Wow, so, being that you have all these memories, and people want to hear about what's going on in the life of someone that made it big back in the 70s and eighties. Do you find yourself also counseling some of the artists that you talk to?

Pricilla Watley: That's a good question for myself counseling. Yes. Because I look at it like when you build that relationship with them, you also tend to get to learn about who they are. And for me once I've done the interview with them. I get to know them off camera and everything. So, then I find myself not only counseling them, but sometime they council me as well. There is one singer one time we had a deep conversation on the phone and it was very deep. She even thanked me for talking to her and everything. You get to really know who these artists are and you get to counsel them on things, they're not aware of or they didn't know, even though they're older than me. I always say you get to know that artist. That's away from that microphone. They play a role. It's like they're playing characters on a stage. There's a person behind and offcamera. I know them as being my sister or me counseling them or them counseling me. I know them on a personal level. So, you get so involved.

Teresa B.: Do you believe in the term of an overnight success? Do you think that is a true statement when somebody says she was an overnight success like they talk about what's the comedian's name?

Pricilla Watley: you can be an overnight success. You can literally be out here in the industry 10 or 15, 20 years. Depending on who you know, you could literally be doing the same thing and won't nobody know until it takes one moment - that one thing it is gonna help take off your career and only God knows what that is. And some people are overnight success It works for certain people Some people they're not Overnight success I Remember the Whispers, I think I was watching something, a documentary on them and they talked about how they had all these songs and stuff. But it took one song to really put them on the map.

Teresa B.: So, if you had an option; name two to three people that you would like to interview in the future.

Pricilla Watley: Of course, that definitely be open Oprah Winfrey. Because I was a huge Oprah friend. She's the reason why I have my degree in media and everything. I used to watch her as a kid growing up her and all the other journalists Barbara Walters. Everybody you can think of, every show that was out there back in the day. I was watching I was that kid. I want to say definitely Tyler Perry. I've seen his documentary. I want to know who he really, really is. I want to just ask questions for myself. My next person, would actually I know just be very shocker, but it'll be Dr. Bernice King. That would be a shocker right there, people wouldn’t think her. But that be somebody I would really love to interview.

Teresa B.: Yeah, that would be amazing. So, for me. I do the majority stuff that I do because I love to empower women. What is your take on what drives you to do what you do?

Pricilla Watley: What drives me is being motivated? I'm motivated if I see that I want certain things or I want to do this or that. Then I'm gonna just do it completely. Don't even think about it. Just go out here and see what happens. Put my best foot forward and see what happens. I’m motivated by if I see someone and they don't want to do it. I'm just encouraging them and saying why not going to go out there and do it. I always tell people step out on faith. That's what I do. I stepped out on faith. And me doing that I believed in myself.. That's another thing that motivates me - believing in yourself. I always believe in myself. Believing in myself and stepping out on faith is what landed me where I'm in today.

Teresa B.: but tell the public how they can reach you if they wanted to have an interview on your show.

Pricilla Watley: That's easy. So, if you want to reach Pricilla Watley and you want to be on Old School Tuesday Turn Up, send me an email at PricillaWatleyat19@ gmail.com or better yet send me a message on Instagram or Facebook and I will respond straight off the bat, really quick. It doesn't matter. And I’ve had all kind of people on my show, makeup artist, new school singers. If you are a manager or an assistant, it doesn't matter if you’re like, I want that interview with Pricilla Watley - give me that interview. Come look me up!

Talk Real & Raw With Sho’nuff: Tori Nelson’s New Talk Real & Raw With Sho’nuff: Tori Nelson’s New Podcast Journey Podcast Journey

What inspired you to start the podcast “Talk Real & RawWith Sho’nuff”?

What inspired me to start Talk Real & Raw with Sho’nuff is because on so many shows and podcasts always get celebrities, and they just talk about safe things Real & Raw is just that we talk about EVERYTHING!!! And it's not scripted or anything, a person can simply tell their story

Can you share what listeners can expect from the format and style of your episodes?

Listeners will ALWAYS learn something from my episodes. We not on there just talking about success and having no problems...we are talking Life and how we got through it and sharing so we can help others while or before they get to the same thing Also, they will get educated on different things that others know that we might not know

Why did you choose to focus on career journeys and personal stories in your interviews?

I decided to focus on Career development and Goals becausethey are personal stories. I don't want my audience to get educated on something someone heard or read. I want them to be able to relate and be like "Oh Yeah I can relate to that; I can see that ”

How do you select the guests you invite onto your show? What qualities do you look for?

The way I select my guests is.... they need to be able to share a story they did or something they learned or definitely know so they can educate us that doesn't know. Real Life stuff.

As a boxing champion, how has your career shaped your perspective on success and resilience, and how does that come through in your podcast?

As a 13x Boxing World Champion Hall of Famer I know all about career success and resilience First as a Female and a Black one at that it was very hard when I first started I had to pay to get on any card to fight as a pro that is. They were supposed to be paying me. But when you want to fight you do what you have to do. Also, as a female in a male sport...you get NO respect. You have to earn it. And I did by God's grace and mercy!! The success behind it is very sweet. But that cost you too... I'm a single mom and I was raising my babies (youngadults now) working 3 jobs and training and fighting I missed a lot of Thanksgivings, Christmases, and Birthdays with my kids because of boxing But when they Inducted us into the Boxing HALL of FAME SMH It let us know that all that was NOT in vain I say US because I didn't do it alone My Babies were right by my side

What have been some of your favorite moments or insights from the interviews you've conducted so far?

Some of the Biggest insights while interviewing were how people dealt with certain things and I had NO clue about Also did you know that if your child joins the band in college not even as a major, they can get a scholarship that's the kind ofinfo you learn on Talk Real & Raw with Sho'Nuff (laugh)

How do you think “Real Talk With Sho’nuff” can impact listeners who are navigating their own career paths?

I know Talk Real & Raw with Sho'Nuff can help listeners navigate through their businesses because my guests breaks it down for them and take questions from the listeners to help them understand whatever they don't. I had 2 brothers on a few weeks ago giving inside tips about buying houses. Some stuff none of us knew unless we were Realtors. Y’all better go back and listen to my shows and tune in Every Sunday @7pm to learn something

Can you discuss any challenges you faced when launching the podcast and how you overcame them?

When I decided to take the producers up on launching this Podcast it was like 1 yr. Or more after they had presented it to me. I am a private person, and I wasn't ready to let people into my circle. Then I prayed on it for a while, and I felt like he told me Go. So, I told them OK, I'm ready. They were so shocked lol but very Happy. And let me tell you...when you let Jesus lead you Nothing but Blessings come Baby!! My Publicist Desirae Benson is nothing but the Truth you hear me She helped me and talked me through a lot about opening up and letting people in And also, the two producers Jacob & Ikon where do I start with them All I can say is They Are A Blessing from Father God himself So, I didn't have any challenges by God's Grace and Mercy...and he sent his 3 Helpers Desirae, Ikon & Jacob to get me on my way.

What advice would you give to someone considering starting their own podcast?

Be READY Don't do it just because Also have some relatable topics for the people to listen to and learn from Make it make people want more of it!!

Looking ahead, what are your goals for the podcast, and are there any exciting guests or topics you’re particularly eager to explore?

I love this Podcast. I'm so Thankful for the opportunity to let people share important information or tell their story and I am happy that it's HELPING others that are listening I'm good with the Podcast but the producers have already been talking to someone and a Bigger Blessing is coming my way !! Won't He Do It!

Stay Blessed Everyone and Be the Best You!

Listen Linda Presents… The Waiting Room Edition

In the ever-evolving landscape of nonprofit fundraising, few voices resonate as powerfully as that of Dr. Janell Harvey. A retired marketing professor and seasoned fundraiser, Dr. Harvey has dedicated her career to empowering organizations to unlock their potential through effective fund development strategies. Her latest book, "Historicity, Incorporation, and Fund Development," offers invaluable insights into the intricacies of fundraising, while her podcast, "Faith & Fundraising," serves as a beacon of knowledge for those navigating the challenges of securing financial support.

As the founder of Harvey NPO Consulting Group, Dr. Harvey has transformed countless organizations by providing tailored training and support in the realm of fundraising. With an unwavering commitment to community impact and social good, she is set to host the Presidential Volunteer Awards Ceremony in Gary, IN, on November 9, 2024—a testament to her dedication to recognizing the vital contributions of volunteers.

I recently had the pleasure of having Dr Janell Harvey Guest Host my podcast Listen Linda Hosted By Jacquiline Cox and we had an in depth conversation about Faith and Fundraising. We discussed Dr. Harvey's journey, her insights on the intersection of faith and fundraising, and her vision for the future of nonprofit development. This conversation promises to inspire and equip both seasoned fundraisers and those just starting their journey in the nonprofit sector.

1. **Book Insights**: Can you share the main themes and insights from your book "Historicity, Incorporation, and Fund Development"? What inspired you to write it?

The Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives was established by George Bush Sr. It was an attempt to level the playing field for faith based organizations and their nonprofit counterparts. Christian centered organizations are often overlooked in the areas of recognition and funding. This book sheds light on how the Apostle Paul was the forerunner for Christian leaders as it relates to philanthropy. It gives a detailed account of how to start a nonprofit organization and sustain it while using scriptures.

Paul's approach to church building was strategic and intentional He traveled extensively, planting churches in major cities like Ephesus, Corinth, Philippi, and Thessalonica. His strategy often involved first reaching out to the Jewish communities in these cities, preaching in synagogues before expanding his ministry to Gentiles. Paul’s work laid the foundation for what would become the Christian church, establishing leadership, doctrine, and a sense of community among believers.

Fundraising was a significant aspect of Paul's ministry. He recognized the need for financial support to sustain the churches and to assist those in need. One of the most notable fundraising efforts Paul undertook was the collection for the impoverished believers in Jerusalem. He encouraged the Gentile churches he had established to contribute generously to this cause, viewing it as a tangible expression of unity and solidarity among the early Christians. I was inspired to write based on the teachings of Paul and my compassion for the nonprofit sector.

2. **Podcast Purpose**: What motivated you to start the "Faith & Fundraising" podcast, and what do you hope listeners take away from each episode?

I listened to Kingdom Purpose Radio and saw an opportunity for new hosts to join. I jumped on the invite quickly. I hope that listeners will better understand the grand opportunities that exist for faith based organizations to receive funding and some of the strategies that can be used to secure it.

3. **Nonprofit Vision**: Can you tell us about the mission of Harvey NPO and the types of organizations you work with to enhance their fundraising efforts?

We are a limited liability company. I work primarily with nonprofits, churches, and schools to offer a number of fundraising workshops. My CFRE (certified fundraising executive) approved course called The Calculated CEO was recently offered at Indiana University. Attendees received nine points towards their CFRE certification. I offer Executive Director Coaching and also file form 1023 and 1023 EZ so that organizations can receive tax exemption status My overarching mission is to take people's vision and give it a voice I want to ensure they have the tools to get started and sustain Last year I participated in a conference led by Women Empowered to SOAR. I traveled throughout Florida to present to a number of dynamic leaders on grant proposal development. I also help agencies to build their capacity through grants and fundraising.

4. **Upcoming Ceremony**: What can you tell us about the upcoming Presidential Volunteer Awards Ceremony in Gary, IN, on November 9, 2024? What are your goals for this event?

I partner with the Points of Light Foundation, an organization that focuses on community impact and volunteerism. By virtue, I am able to grant individuals the President's Lifetime Volunteer Service Award This year about a dozen individuals will convene in Hammond Indiana and receive awards and gifts for their tireless effort to ensure community change. Guest performances from Lady Sax, Nicole Mabon-Brewer and Brandon the Entertainer will take place. Our Keynote Speaker is Jennifer Williams, Executive Director of Zetta Nicole Girls while inspirational speakers Kim Rumph (owner of Officiant Kim) and Marcia Lias (owner of TNT designs). Too often the good works of others go overlooked. I know that people render goodness from their hearts and do not desire recognition but I feel led to honor those on the roster. Limited tickets will be made available to the public starting October 1.

5. **Community Impact**: How do you believe your work in fund development has impacted the communities you serve, and what changes have you seen over the years?

Over the years, I have witnessed several changes as a result of my work. One significant change has been the increased capacity of nonprofits to fund their missions independently. With the guidance and support I've provided, organizations have developed more robust fundraising strategies, leading to greater financial stability and the ability to expand their services

6. **Challenges in Fundraising**: What are some of the biggest challenges you encounter in the field of fund development, and how do you overcome them?

One of the greatest challenges is an agency's unwillingness to partner. Major donors want to see strong collaboration and dollars are often left on the table because of a duplication of services.

7. **Future Projects**: Are there any upcoming projects or initiatives you’re excited about that you’d like to share with our audience?

I am working on a book and a collaboration with my children. The book deals with Grant Writing and will be made available for purchase as an E-book soon.

8. **Advice for Nonprofits**: What advice would you give to nonprofit organizations looking to improve their fundraising strategies?

Fundraising is about relationships, not just transactions. Take the time to understand your donors' motivations, interests, and giving capacities. Regularly engage with them through personalized communication, thanking them for their support, and updating them on how their contributions are making a difference.

Don’t rely solely on one source of income. Explore various fundraising avenues such as grants, individual donations, corporate sponsorships, events, and online campaigns. Diversifying helps mitigate risk and ensures a more stable flow of resources. Keep your donors informed about how their money is being used. Transparent financial reporting builds trust and reassures donors that their contributions are making a difference.

9. **Connecting with You**: How can listeners get in touch with you or learn more about your work and the services offered by

Consulting Group?
