elite category, ‘Champion of Champions’ where we again won a Gold Award.

I think you will agree that these are quite impressive results for one village, and just recently, Bosworth in Bloom was presented with a Community Award, made on the personal initiative of Janice Richards, the Mayor of Hinckley & Bosworth.

Bosworth in Bloom 2016 Appeal By the time you read this, the village centre will be in full summer planting mode and an impressive sight for all who live in and visit Market Bosworth: let’s hope so, because Judging Day is on Monday 11th July!

I’m sure everyone realizes that this annual display, and its maintenance, is the result of a lot of hard work by our volunteers, but it does need funding, so I am writing to you to ask for your help.

What we achieved in 2015 You may remember that we were in two competitions in 2015.

In the regular East Midlands regional competition, we won a Gold Award and came top of the Large Village category.

In addition, we were given the Judges’ Award for the quality of the Richard III display on Park Street, and The Black Horse and Tony and Bev Gardner’s Aylesbrook Cottage were both awarded Silver Gilt certificates for their gardens.

At the national level, we had been invited to take part in the

What we will continue to do Bosworth in Bloom and its volunteers carry out a wide range of activities around the village from all year round planting, helping other groups with projects, litter picking events and encouraging schools to get involved in hands-on gardening.

In all of this, we have in mind the core principles of Britain in Bloom: Horticultural Excellence, Sustainability and Community Participation. As for Bosworth itself, we strongly believe that Bloom encourages ‘pride of place’ and gives the people of Bosworth a greater sense of identity: we also believe that by adding a distinctive ambience to the village it attracts more visitors, helping the viability of shops and businesses, which is to everyone’s benefit.

How will it be financed?

Basically, we spend around £7000 a year on horticultural material and £500 on other essentials e.g. the running costs of the Bosworth in Bloom pick-up, insurance, provision of prizes etc.

We receive an annual grant of £3000 from the Parish Council

Fight to Get Post Office Back The Post Office in Market Bosworth recently closed. For a significant community, this was a serious blow. For the people and businesses of Bosworth and the surrounding village, this was more than just an inconvenience. Facilities elsewhere have had to be accessed. The Post Office sought to find another suitable venue and location but without success.

A small group of individuals (see attached leaflet) have been meeting and exploring other options to re-instate a post office within the community. Meetings have also taken place with officials from the Post Office.

The group is desirous to share its views and ideas, and to hear from the community both about progress hitherto and to consider other ideas and options. To this end, a public and open meeting has been arranged for Monday, 11th July, 2016 at 6.00pm in St Peter’s Parish Church Hall, Park Street, Market Bosworth. Anyone who has an interest and would like to hear more and make contributions are welcome and encouraged to attend this meeting. The working group believes it has a viable option but would need some support from the community.

‘It is time to get our post office back’, said Canon David Jennings, a member of the working group. ‘I hope as many people as possible would want to come along to the meeting to hear proposals and to offer suggestions, ideas and support’, concluded Canon Jennings.

Roger Simmons As you will be aware, Roger died suddenly on 12th May. It was a great shock to all of us.

He was the best husband, loving father to 5 children, grandad/ pappy/grandman to 6 grandchildren 5 boys and 1 girl you could ever wish for.

He was a pillar of the community and well-loved in the village.

My family and I are overwhelmed with all the cards and condolences and best wishes we have received.

The day of the funeral was unbelievable, so many of the village walked with the family behind his coffin and 300+ attended the church service.

I am only sorry I could not get round to speak to you all.

The refreshments afterwards were amazing with many of you attending, thanks must go to Glenn, Sharon and Graham for a wonderful spread.

Both myself and the family wish to thank you all for helping us give Roger the send-off he truly deserved.

I personally want to thanks my wonderful family for all their support.

Thank you to friends, neighbours and work colleagues who continue to give wonderful help and continued support.

As you know, Roger loved his greyhounds and, thanks to your generosity, over ÂŁ300 has been collected so far for the East Midlands Greyhound Rescue.

Roger would be so pleased that this money is going to such a worthy charity.

My sister wrote: Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.

These words are a great comfort to me and I hope they are to all of you.

Continuing Success for Joy

England International Skeet shooter, Joy Hirons from Stoke Golding has just recently been selected to shoot for her country by winning her third England Cap. Following on from her Silver Medal win at the English Open she took to the skeet ranges at Dartford in Kent the week after for a whole weekend of qualification rounds.

The weather was kind and Joy shot her custom made Beretta 12 bore shotgun extremely well, finishing a clear winner in the Ladies category and earning her place in the 22 member squad of 10 seniors, 3 ladies, 3 juniors, 3 veterans and 3 super veterans.

organised by the UK Space Agency and the Royal Horticultural Society, pupils compared the characteristics of one set of rocket seeds, which had spent six months on the International Space Station, with another set which had stayed down on Earth. Factors such as the onset of germination, the appearance of leaves, the height of the plants, the number of leaves and the health of the plants were investigated. The findings will now be sent to the UK Space Agency to be analysed, along with the results from similar investigations all over the country. Pupils are excited to see if they have correctly identified the space seeds and to see what new knowledge may come from this cosmic experiment.

Market Bosworth Neighbourhood Plan

Following the positive referendum result last September the Neighbourhood Plan has been adopted by the Borough Council and they are already using the contents of this plan alongside National & Local Plans to consider planning applications in Market Bosworth.

Since the Plan passed referendum work on the details and fine tuning continues. There is much to do!

One important task has been to develop the Design Brief for the land to the South of Station Rd/Heath Rd - this area was identified in the Plan as suitable for mixed use development and the Brief will set out guidelines for any future development proposals so that they meet the policies and outlines of the Plan.

But that is not all: discussions and proposals for improved parking and traffic flow continue; meetings have been held working towards safer pedestrian access beyond the canal bridge; ongoing surveys are taking place to identify important tree and hedgerow areas within the Plan area. As the Plan area follows the Parish boundaries this latter is a large project which will take some time to complete and may be opportunity for local groups (large and small) to be directly involved.

These next stages will be particularly important as we work together for the benefit of our own community to look at how present and future needs can be met and how we can help to make the town an even better place to live and work, now and into the future.

In order to keep up to date, the Forum (on behalf of the Parish Council) will continue to monitor and record continuing and developing issues relating to the Plan in order that records are available for reference in the future, when the Plan is due for review.

This is an ongoing project for some years to come and we will aim to keep all informed by posting updates and progress in local press, on the website and via social media.

POSTMAN PAT RETURNS TO BOSWORTH? For too long, our community of Market Bosworth has suffered the loss of post office facilities. Over the past few weeks a small group of people, John Wasteney, Heather Broughton, Grizelda

Hargreaves and David Jennings, acting in individual capacities, have been exploring the possibility of re-creating a post office within the community, based possibly within St Peter’s Parish

Church Hall. There have been meetings with officials from the Post Office to discuss this proposal, examine the suitability of the Hall, and to consider cost implications.

The group now feels that it would be good and helpful to have an open and public meeting to share progress, consider ideas, and seek wider support for the project, including necessary sustainability. Local Member of Parliament, David Tredinnick, has met with the group, visited the Hall, and has given his support for further consideration and exploration. To this end, we would invite members of the community to a public meeting to hear the current ideas and to suggest further proposals. The long anticipated Peter Foss Lecter “The History of Bosworth – How it began” was well received by over 70 members and guests. Peter gave an excellent account as he talked us through some very interesting aspects of his work. His research into how Market Bosworth came into being and developed (as there is no river and not on a natural thoroughfare) was very interesting. Peter had identified a chapel known as St. Anne’s which pre-dated St. Peters Church. St. Anne’s stood just about where the entrance to Harcourt Spinney is now. He went on to display photographs of some of the Roman artefacts, including a complete (but reconstruction) Roman urn, found just across the road from that site, where 48 Barton Road now stands, but considered that Market Bosworth was not originally a Roman settlement.

We will have to explore further, by Test Pitting for example to find the truth. Peter also read out a letter dated in 1727 from one of the Dixie family to his brother, the Baronet. The author of the letter was in London attending a family funeral and had written to the Baronet asking for some of his fine Liquor. Upon researching the use of the word Liquor, Peter found that the Shorter Oxford Dictionary pronounced the earliest use of that word as 1747 yet it was in a letter dated 1727, an example of the fascinating historical facts Peter shared with us. Geoff Pursglove has kindly offered to lead a Leisure Walk along the banks of the Ashby Canal. Geoff will point out and explain points of interest along the way, this will take us around two hours to complete the two miles. There is one style to cross (with a detour if required) and Geoff suggests sensible footwear and weather suitable clothing. Members are asked to meet opposite the Globe Inn at Snarestone at 7.00pm. As car parking is limited, it would be most helpful if members could car share wherever possible. This outing promises to be a lovely walk along a beautiful stretch of the Ashby Canal.

I have recently added the brochure for the Leicestershire & Rutland Archaeological Festival to our Facebook page, do take a look if you are able. Peter Foss kindly made the presentation on behalf of Market Bosworth Society, which made it all the more special for Peter who, like many present holds Peter Foss in high esteem.

At the time of writing I am still awaiting the result of the vote for Lady Florence, for her to be awarded a Green Plaque. I understand that the wait is nearly over and we can all but hope for a successful outcome. Thank you to all who voted for her, whatever the outcome, I know a lot of Bosworth’s citizens have supported her nomination. We must wait and see.

From what Peter Liddle said, the test pits are a metre square and are excavated 4cm at a time until the subsoil strata is reached. The work is not too energetic and you will be rewarded by the excitement of unearthing the history of previous communities; who knows what might be turned up, that is the fun of it all.

St Peter’s CE Primary Academy Letter from the Queen The children in our EYFS at St Peter’s are feeling very proud of themselves having received a letter from the Queen! She wrote to thank the children for all their kind birthday messages that they had written and sent for her 90th Birthday!

Olympic Torch Relay Over the last two weeks, many of our pupils at St Peter’s have been running a daily relay route around Market Bosworth carrying their Olympic Torch. We hope you have given them a cheer if you have spotted them going past, and followed our pictures on Twitter!

Friday was the final relay in the run up to our Sports Days, when the 1948 London Olympic Torch will be in school.

Everyone that took part has really enjoyed the experience.

Team Congerstone UNITY Football Final On Tuesday 14th June the Year 3 & 4 football teams from Congerstone P.S. and Sheepy Magna P.S took to the field at Ibstock Football Club to play in the final of the Unity Football Tournament. It was a very tight game which at the final whistle and after extra time was still 0-0. Next came a nerve wracking penalty shoot-out. As parents and coaches stood on the sidelines our boys went onto score 2 of their 3 penalties to win the Unity Football Tournament. Congratulation boys you all played so well throughout the whole tournament.

The children took part in an opening and closing ceremony, they split into groups with some competing in an athletic activity and others taking part in gymnastic activities. All the children and parents had a wonderful time so a big thank you to Bosworth Academy for organising this fabulous event.

Green-Fingered Pupils ‘Grow Together’ to Create a New School Garden

Green-fingered pupils at a Nailstone primary school have created a brand new garden from scratch to grow lots of different fruit, vegetables and flowers.

Dove Bank Primary School’s Gardening Club and School Council have been working closely with parents and local businesses as part of its ‘Grow Together’ scheme to transform a plot of land at the school.

The new garden contains raised beds, a large polytunnel, a wild flower area, an orchard and a large soft fruit patch to give the school a constant supply of fruit for the children to pick themselves.

Children aged four to eleven years from the school on Bagworth Road, have been encouraged and directed by project manager Richard Smith, a parent at the school, who has been busy orchestrating the garden scheme since it began.

“Through our ‘Growing Together’ scheme, one of the key things we wanted to do was to let the children have the opportunity to grow crops such as pumpkins, tomatoes and runner beans from seed, learn how to take care of their fledgling plants and to either sell produce at various opportunities or to use the harvested fruit and vegetables to make jams, pies and soups with, thereby helping them to understand the importance of a healthy diet,” he said.

“It’s vitally important that the children understand where food comes from and, learning is about so much more than being at a desk.

“The community garden project provides an opportunity for every child to learn about food, farming and the natural environment as part of an exciting school curriculum, taking into account the impressive outdoor space in the school.”

As well as preparing a greenhouse, constructing an irrigation system and making a living wall, parent volunteers, staff and members of the gardening club also approached a number of local businesses for help with supplies. Tools and other equipment were supplied by Draper Tools and Rollins Bulldog Tools Ltd, Feel Good in Syston donated the polytunnel, Katie & Herbie McDonnell the fencing, whilst Taylors Buildbase donated all of the building materials to the cause.

The school’s headteacher, Fiona Shields said: “The community garden project is a brilliant idea as it enables children to grasp gardening skills at a young age and encourages them to question, understand and appreciate their environment. Hands on gardening is proving to be an inspiration both to the children and the community around them, giving them satisfaction and a sense of achievement. As the project develops, we eventually hope to be able to open our own nursery so that pupils can then learn to perfect their business skills!”

Market Bosworth Football Club Cover Story

Market Bosworth Football Club played hosts to over 400 visitors for its annual “Battle of Bosworth” football tournament last month. A fantastic festival of football was made all the better by the first use of the new clubhouse at Market Bosworth Sports Ground. The weekend was particularly successful for the club’s Under 8s and Under 9s teams who both came out overall winners of their age groups!

Sandwiched between the two days of the tournament was the Football Club’s junior presentation evening. This was a great opportunity for players, parents and club volunteers to experience the new clubhouse for the first time, and was a fantastic night to celebrate the achievements of all the players over the proceeding football season.

Nailstone Pupils Celebrate ‘Brilliant Britain’ Day

From learning about democracy to Brit pop culture, Shakespeare to Big Ben, pupils at a Nailstone Primary School have been exploring what makes Britain ‘great’ during a special ‘Brilliant Britain’ day.

Dove Bank Primary School ran ‘Brilliant Britain’ day in order to celebrate everything that is great about Britain and to teach children the values which underpin the country.

Immersing themselves in British culture, pupils produced work in response to a range of themes including The Royal Family, British Writers and British Artists.

They also found out about landmarks such as Big Ben, the Angel of the North and Blackpool Tower.

To celebrate the Queen’s official 90th birthday, pupils were

treated to a street party lunch, to which they wore red, white and blue and sang the National Anthem, followed by ‘afternoon tea’ on the school field.

There was of course, a Great British Bake Off, with the entries being served during the course of the day, and a design competition which required pupils to create something that represented why Great Britain is great.

Learning about the British value of democracy, pupils from each class even got to vote for who they wanted crowned king and queen for the day.

Headteacher, Fiona Shields said, “At Dove Bank, we believe that learning should be exciting and meaningful. Brilliant Britain Day has not only helped pupils to celebrate the nation’s creativity and culture but it has enabled us to teach pupils about the values that underpin our country. The messages reinforced throughout the day will support our children’s understanding and awareness of our rich culture and history and enable them to appreciate how the values of our society are fundamental to a growing and vibrant nation and economy”.

Stan Pitt Community Award 2016

Following nominations received between February and April this year, Mr Roy Stafford was awarded with the third annual presentation of the Stan Pitt Community Award, as part of the Peckleton Parish Council Annual Parish Meeting on Monday 16th May 2016.

Mr Stafford was selected by local residents of Stapleton and Peckleton parish to be the person honoured by being presented with their Community Award for 2016.

The Award was made during a ceremony at the Annual Parish Meeting at Stapleton Village Hall by Mrs June Pitt; the widow of the former Parish Councillor and Chairman of the Parish Council for many years [Stan Pitt], who the award is named in honour of, and who passed away in 2013.

The Award, which is made annually, is to recognise and publicly thank those unsung heroes, who have tirelessly beavered away to improve their community, but who do not normally receive the recognition they deserve.

Peckleton Parish Council encompasses the villages of Kirkby Mallory, Peckleton and Stapleton and earlier in the year residents were asked to nominate anyone they felt were unselfish volunteers and then a panel of parish councillors reviewed the nominations. A councillor from each village ward acted as judges and they made their decision

by looking for people who had made a positive impact within their communities.

Mr Roy Stafford was finally chosen as the one to be given the distinction of being the winner of this year’s Award, as he had consistently and expertly been providing valued services to the Stapleton Village Hall committee for many years. As part of the presentation, Mr Stafford was highly commended and in recognition of his efforts, received an inscribed wooden shield, as well as the trophy shield which he gets to keep for the next year.

During the ceremony, the Vice-Chair, Councillor Angela Porter explained the purpose of the award, before giving an overview of Mr Stafford’s achievements.

Mrs Pitt presented the Award trophy, which is an inscribed shield, to Mr Stafford, before commending Mr Stafford for all his efforts.

Mr Stafford of Stapleton was noted as the Chairman of Stapleton Village Hall Committee for many years, and could often be found carrying out maintenance, decorating the hall for various events and doing anything else which needed doing to keep Stapleton Village Hall going.

He has done an excellent job in not just keeping the village hall going, as he has been instrumental in improving the village hall itself, via grants etc. This includes new heating, new ceiling, new lighting, new kitchen, redecorations, disabled WC, and organising resurfacing the car park in 2016, etc. He has carried out some of the work himself.

He has also been instrumental in introducing a successful programme of enjoyable events during the winter months which have brought in local people to enjoy each other’s company and raise funds. These include skittles, horse racing and quiz nights. The village hall can now truly be regarded as a community resource.

Birdnotes Spotted Flycatcher

Den Smith watched a beautiful Spotted Flycatcher in the Lake District on its nest, he mentioned what a dainty little bird it was. Roger Partridge, who watches the Swans at Sence Park, rang to say they have 7 cygnets on the Goss Water and 3 on the Horseshoe Lake. David Perrins of Ellistown watched 4 Ravens cronking and cavorting overhead showing their unmistakeable wedge tail, they are possibly from the Bardon Hill area. David said they were unmistakeable with their calling and size. On a local walk from Ibstock to Ellistown, David watched Song Thrush, Chaffinch, Yellowhammer, Robin, Dunnock, (hedge sparrow) and, flying above, Swift and House Martin.

Ivan and Marjorie Ridgeway of Ibstock watched 5 young Great Tits fledge from their camera nest box. The Tits use the box every year without fail. Rhys Dandy

watched a male Wheatear at Longmoor (Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Wood.) At Cropston Dam he watched 5 Common Sandpiper and at Cropston Reservoir 18 Arctic Tern, 2 Whimbrel, a single Osprey, Marsh Harrier, 2 Sanderling, and a Black Tern. A good days birding. Someone rang who watches Red Kites around and wonders if they are breeding locally. I would say yes, providing there is a pair, especially with people seeing so many around the area. Liz Tegg of Barlestone watched Red Kite crossing the road above the A447. According to a National newspaper, Red Kites in Reading Berkshire are said to be attacking people, mainly children because they expect every person they see to be feeding them.

The National Trust stopped a Grouse shooting lease at Hope Woodlands and Park Hall Derbyshire due to birds of prey being shot on both estates. A retired man who was caught stealing wild birds eggs, namely Great Skua and 2 Rock Doves eggs was fined a total of £4,200. The stealing of our wild birds eggs apparently still goes on and nothing seems to deter people, so fines like this are a really good thing to help stop this disgraceful crime. Alan and Marina Brooks along with Derek Hart had a very successful bird watching trip to Bempton Cliffs and Flamborough Head Yorkshire seeing

numerous species of nesting seabirds, and Further North to Northumberland and Bamborough Castle, Craster, and The Farne Isles. The list of species seen is far too many to list, but with passerines birds such as Stonechat, Meadow and Rock Pipit, linnet, and sea birds Red Breasted Merganser, several species of Tern some at nest and with young, Little ringed Plover, Eider Duck with young, Eider Duck

Shag, Kittiwake, and Puffin at nest. Later they toured the Grey Seal colony. A very worthwhile and successful trip overall.

On another trip locally, Alan and Derek watched Garden Warbler, Reed Warbler, Sedge Warbler, and Redstart. Around Ibstock, Swifts have been seen on numerous occasions flying in groups of 6-8 in several places. Sand Martins have been using the wall provided for them at Sence Park but I have not received any information about their

success yet. Swallows and House Martins have been seen around Ibstock but only in small numbers, and no one has reported either from the usual places around the village yet. We have our annual Eco Week coming up at Congerstone Primary School this month that I always look forward to. Roger Partridge will assist again this year, being a great success last year showing his own photographs and talking about what Roger calls his Sence Valley Swans, giving an individual name to each Swan, which of course all children love to see.

My job is describing the species of birds we see from the schools own bird hide situated in a corner of the playing field. The school provides the children with binoculars and a senior assistant accompanies each group. This year, we have three days so let’s hope we get some sunshine and warm weather to attract the birds. Chris Griffin of Newbold Verdon, who rang last month with concerns about renovations taking place on the local church and the possibility it would deter the Swifts that use it annually for nesting and said he would approach the authorities about the problem never

Coventry and Warwickshire in March, securing her place at the Miss England finals in July.

Leading up to the finals, Rheo has recorded a charity single for ‘Beauty with a Purpose”, the charity partner of Miss England and Miss World.

Rheo told us that the song is an original, called “Our World” - highlighting the damaging effects of humanity. She said “The charity supports underprivileged children worldwide and has raised millions of pounds over the years.”

“I want to try and make a long term difference, rather than a single event to raise money; I thought a charity single would be a great way to raise funds and get an important message across – as music is a universal language.”

She said “In light of recent negative press coverage surrounding other pageant competitions, I feel very strongly about presenting a positive image for young people, and having the complete backing of organisations like Miss World and Miss England will enable me to do this”.

The next few weeks will be a hectic time for Rheo, preparing for the Finals, which have evolved from the bathing suit parades of the past to include an assault style sports round, an Eco-round, an intelligence round, a publicity and social media round and of course the Charity title.

Rheo said “There is no place for superficial beauty in Miss England, there are no height, size or weight restrictions as many people assume, but simply a requirement to be a well-rounded, confident individual. This goes for the guys as well as the girls”.

Twycross Pupils Take On The BBC Micro:bit

This term, all Twycross House School Senior 1 (Year 7) pupils have received their own BBC micro:bit computer as part of the BBC “Make It Digital” initiative around the country. The micro:bit devices have been developed in conjunction with 25 organisations including Microsoft Research and have been issued free to this age group, to enthuse, excite and empower a new generation of digitally-creative young people.

The BBC micro:bit device is a handheld, fully programmable computer that can be used for all sorts of cool creations, from robots to musical instruments – the possibilities are endless. It’s 70 times smaller and 18 times faster than the original BBC Micro-computers that were used in schools in the early 1980s, which some might remember.

This little device has an awful lot of features, like 25 red LED lights that can flash messages. There are two programmable buttons that can be used to control games or pause and skip songs on a playlist. The BBC micro:bit can also detect motion and tell you which direction you’re heading in, and it can use a low energy Bluetooth connection to interact with other devices such as smart phones and the internet – clever! The BBC micro:bit is based on the highly successful, British, ARM mbed platform for embedded systems, as used in most mobile phones, car engine controllers, digital cameras and so on.

Twycross pupils have written code in ICT lessons using the Microsoft Block Editor programming language, which is akin to the Scratch language used earlier in the year. The BBC website comes complete with a simulator where pupils can check for syntax errors in their code.

Once happy with the code they have written, the pupils use a compiler to convert the instructions into binary machine code which they then upload onto their micro:bit computers. Their instructions might light up a scrolling LED grid to display their name or have LED sprites hunting each other in a game. ICT lessons have never been so much fun!

Jim’s talk will be “The Life and Times of a Radio Presenter”. He admits to having an opinion about almost everything so it has all the ingredients to be a lively and highly entertaining afternoon.

June Monthly Meeting Our second Annual General Meeting on 15th June was very well attended, possibly because it was followed by a cream tea of plain and fruit scones with strawberry jam and whipped cream and fresh strawberries. I’d rather think it was because there was a really good quiz and a caption competition. The existing 6 committee members were all re-elected for a further year together with 3 new members, Wendy Hollis, John Dexter and Paul Bannister, that mirrored our 50% increase in membership in the last year.

Our monthly meetings are always on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Newbold Verdon Sports & Social Club, 107 Main Street, Newbold Verdon LE9 9NP (next door to the Co-op). Meetings start at 2pm prompt and usually finish by 4pm. Doors open at 1.30pm to allow time to register and have a look around.

Retired or Semi-Retired visitors are welcome if you just want to give us a try before deciding whether or not to join.

The entrance cost for visitors is just £2 which is refunded if you decide to join on the day. Membership for the 2016/17 season ending 31st March 2017 is just £20. Refreshments are available at July Monthly Meeting Following the AGM in June, we’re now each meeting for 50p. back to normal and for our July 20th Future Meetings meeting we welcome the BBC Radio August 17th Leicester breakfast presenter Jim Davis as our speaker. Jim was born in South “Reflections in Rhyme” - with Delia Africa and is well travelled. He lived in Bennett.

Activity Groups We now have 15 activity groups either up-and-running or in the advanced planning stages – Table Tennis and New Age Kurling being the newest. All activity groups are self-supporting so may also involve a contribution towards any roomhire/hall cost and refreshments. You do need to be a West Leicestershire U3A member to join these groups although visitors are welcome on a taster basis for an additional £2 per session (maximum of 3 visits to groups/monthly meetings).
