WHAT CAUSES BAD BREATH AND WAYS TO BEAT IT DURING RAMADAN Ramadan is arriving where Muslims are spending the whole daylight hours in a complete fast. Yet; it is important to mention that feelings of hunger and thirst are not the only challenges. Fasting for long hours make a lot of people suffer from halitosis, this is the scientific term for the bad breath problem. Of course no body loves to smell unpleasantly; in order to solve this issue during Ramadan, one must understand first the problem roots. • HOW IS BAD BREATH PRODUCED? Bad breath is a result of certain bacteria that live in the oral cavity, which break down food leftovers into foul-smelling gases or volatile sulphur compounds (VCSs). According to researches, 85-90% of bad breath origins are from the mouth, 5-10% of bad breath cases originates from the nose and sinuses, and 3-5% of cases from the tonsils. Other rarer origins are systemic diseases such as GORD (gastro oesophageal reflux disease) or H-pylori infection. Bad breath is thought to originate mainly from the dorsum of the tongue. Where large quantities of naturally-occurring bacteria are often found on the back dorsum of the tongue, where they are rather undisturbed by normal activity. This part of the tongue is also quite dry and poorly cleansed, and bacterial populations can thrive on the remaining of food deposits, dead epithelial cells and postnasal drip (PND). • WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF BAD BREATH? The main cause for bad breath is the poor oral hygiene. Failing to maintain a good dental routine that consists of brushing teeth at least twice a day, along with flossing and mouth washing, puts the one under the risk of having a stubborn bad breath. The intensity of bad breath is dependent on the mouth dryness. During fasting the mouth tend to be drier, which causes a stronger smell. This dryness happens due to the almost absence of saliva. 10 | May 2018
Saliva is the natural mouthwash we are born with, it contains antibacterial agents, and competes with bacteria for scarce resources such as iron. Saliva helps wash bacteria and food from the mouth, and the saliva layer helps the oral odours from escaping. Bad breath is worst when there is little or no saliva flow, which mainly occurs while fasting. As soon as one begins to eat and drink the Parotid salivary gland is stimulated and starts to salivate causing the dead cells and bacteria to be washed away reducing the unpleasant smell. • HOW TO BEAT UNPLEASANT BREATH? The key to a pleasant mouth breath is maintaining the right needed oral hygiene routine. The routine starts by brushing teeth twice a day, followed by mouth wash, and dental flossing. The teeth brushing technique is crucial, it should last for two minutes ensuring that all the tooth surface and gum margins are properly massaged and brushed. Electric toothbrushes are recommended for people who encounter problems with manual brushing; it is a worth trying product to improve the cleaning process. Following the aforementioned basic routine while fasting helps in stimulating the saliva flow in the oral cavity to get over mouth dryness. The frequent mouth rinsing helps too in managing the dryness, and thus bad breath intensity. Some people like to use “Miswak” it is another stimulatory for the salivary flow. Another trick to keep oral breath in control is the tongue cleaning. It can be done using a tongue scraper or a separate tongue toothbrush, a gentle massage for the tongue helps to wipe off the bacteria that find a good living place in a dry mouth. As much as oral hygiene is essential, the quality of food and beverages input upon Iftar play another major role in the breath odor. • FOOD AND DRINK: Some foods, such as onions, garlic and some spices may cause the breath to smell after consuming them. Bad breath from garlic is
not caused mainly from the bacteria, but from the garlic itself – many people would argue that garlic breath is not unpleasant, and therefore not an example of halitosis. The bacteria in our mouths tend to give off higher volumes of smelly gases when they decompose proteins, such as meat or fish. If bits of meat get stuck between your teeth and you do not clean them properly, your risk of having bad breath is significantly increased • MEDICATIONS: Medication that causes a dry mouth or nose is more likely to cause bad breath, examples include antihistamines and drugs for treating systemic diseases such as Hypertension (high blood pressure) and Diabetes. Patients who are on a cocktail of medication treating systemic diseases should speak to their GP before commencing Ramadan to ensure their fast will not affect the efficacy and use of their medication. • POOR DENTURE HYGIENE: People who use dentures and don’t clean them regularly have a higher risk of bad breath. If the dentures do not fit properly food is more likely to get stuck. Patients should ensure they clean their dentures on a daily basis using a brush and water or denture cleaning tablets. Illnesses, conditions and situations: Experts say that about one tenth of all cases of halitosis are caused by an illness or medical condition. Examples include: Diabetes, GORD (gastro oesophageal reflux disease) and renal disease. Patients who are fasting and suffer from such diseases should consult their GP first. Needless to mention to importance of watching the water intake during Ramadan. Staying hydrated out of the fasting hours is essential for the whole body, not only oral health and hygiene. The key to have a hydrated body is to have small frequent sips that lead to the ideal eight to ten glasses per day.

intake of fluids allows your kidneys and bowels to function more effectively when flushing out the toxins in the body. 7. Eat more fish; particularly salmon: Not only is salmon (along with other cold-water fish) a great source of protein -- one of the building blocks of great skin -- it’s also an awesome source of an essential fatty acid known as omega-3. Omega-3 is essential to help nourishing the skin and keep it plump and youthful, helping to reduce wrinkles. 8. Eat more soy: Soy-based supplements improve skin’s structure and firmness after just six months of use.
EFFECTIVE WAYS TO REDUCE WRINKLES
Who doesn’t want to look their best? As we age, we grow in maturity, yet, the spirit remains the same. We seek to have the same youthful look as the old days; that is when searching about ways that reduce wrinkles or even vanish it is on the top of the grooming agenda. Wrinkles are lines or creases that develop on the skin by the time it starts to lose its elasticity. As you get older, your skin doesn’t produce as much elastin and collagen, which are proteins that keep the skin stretched. This production decrease affects the skin that it starts to sag, resulting in wrinkles. However, it is not only aging, there are other factors such as the sun and some lifestyle related. What really works to reduce wrinkles? We researched about thirteen ways experts say they can make a difference. The list is divided into three parts; the first one included some lifestyle changes, the second list gives nutritional tips, and the last one is for medical interference.
A. HABITS TO ADOPT:
1. Watch Your Sun Exposure: It’s the Number one cause of wrinkles. Better to maintain wearing a suitable sunscreen prior to going out in the sun. It also protects from skin cancer, along with preventing wrinkles. It is important also to wear sunglasses everyday, to avoid the wrinkles around the eyes from forming. 2. Get Adequate Sleep: When you don’t get enough sleep, the body produces excess cortisol, a hormone that breaks down skin cells. And you’ll produce more HGH (human growth hormone), which helps skin remain thick, more “elastic,” and less likely to wrinkle. 12 | May 2018
3. Sleep on your back: Sleeping on the side increases wrinkles on cheeks and chin, while sleeping face-down gives you a furrowed brow. To reduce wrinkle formation, sleep on your back. Sleeping in certain positions night after night leads to “sleep-lines -- wrinkles that become etched into the surface of the skin and don’t disappear once you’re up. 4. Don’t over-wash your face: Tap water strips skin of its natural barrier oils and moisture that protect against wrinkles. Wash them off too often, and you wash away protection. Moreover, unless your soap contains moisturizers, you should use a cleanser instead. 5. Exercise on a Regular Basis: Everybody know the cardiovascular benefits of exercise, it also promotes a healthy skin. Regular physical activity increases blood flow, allowing oxygen and nutrients to be carried to working cells in the body – skin included. The blood flow also helps remove waste products such as free-radicals from working cells. And while exercise doesn’t actually help to detoxify skin, it can “clean your skin from the inside” by flushing cellular debris out of the system.
B. NUTRIENTS TO INTRODUCE:
6. Drink Plenty of Water: Dehydration causes skin to look dry and wrinkled, while proper hydration allows for younger, healthierlooking skin. Water replenishes skin cells and tissues, and helps skin remain elastic and moisturized. Properly hydrated skin also acts as a protective barrier to prevent excessive fluid loss. In addition, having an adequate

Studies have shown that increasing fruit and vegetable consumption improves skin tone and makes people look more attractive by boosting the red and yellow pigments in skin. Other studies have shown that fruits and vegetables increase microcirculation, or circulation of oxygen and nutrients to the skin, and also increase skin hydration, thickness, and density.
C. MEDICAL TREATMENTS:
10. Wrinkle fillers: Doctors fill wrinkles with a variety of substances, including collagen, hyaluronic acid and other synthetic compounds. Popular treatments include Restylane, Juvederm, and ArteFill, among others. 11. Laser/light resurfacing: Here, energy from a light source, either a laser or a pulsed diode light. It removes the top layer of skin, causing a slight but unnoticeable skin “wounding.” This kicks the skin’s natural collagen-production system into high gear, resulting in smoother, more wrinkle-free skin. 12. Chemical peels: In this treatment, one of a variety of different chemicals is used to “burn” away the top layer of skin, creating damage that causes the body to respond by making more collagen. You end up with younger-looking, smoother skin. 13. Dermabrasion: A vacuum suction device used in tandem with a mild chemical crystal, dermabrasion helps remove the top layer of skin cells and bring new, more evenly textured skin to the surface. In the process, fine lines and wrinkles seem to disappear. Slow down the appearance of men’s wrinkles and keep your skin looking great for years to come.

HAVE YOU EVER TAKEN REAL TIME TO TAKE A DEEP LOOK ON ALL YOUR HABITS AND UNDERSTAND THEM?? A habit is something you do daily without thinking much about it. You probably have a habit of waking up at a certain time, brushing your teeth a certain way, and perhaps driving your car at a certain speed. Habits become such a part of your routine that they become who you are. Since habits become you, the habits that you choose to follow set the tone for your entire life. If you have a habit of greeting your family, children or friends with joy, you will become a joyful person. If you have a habit of eating a vegetable with every meal, you will become a healthy person. So if you have a life goal, it isn’t the goal itself that will help you reach your dreams, it is the habits that you form and follow while you are trying to get there. Some researches say that it takes 21 days to build a habit, while others claim it takes up to 66 days. The truth is that the length of time really varies from person to person and habit to habit. You’ll find that some habits are easy to build while others require more effort. My advice is to commit to a specific habit for the next 30 days (or a month to keep it simple). The holy month of Ramadan is coming soon, why not take it as a golden 30 days opportunity to focus on one habit that you wished to build for quite some time but you didn’t succeed!! Building a new habit isn’t hard to achieve as it may sound to lots of people. It’s a simply a pattern of behaviors that are being repeated over and over till it becomes like second nature. Think about driving a car as an example, all of us panicked first time we started learning to drive 16 | May 2018
and felt like it was impossible to do all these actions at the same time, right!! Now you’ll find yourself driving, playing on music, answering the phone and talking to people with you in the car all that the same time! With a small amount of initial commitment, you can create a new habit that requires little effort to maintain. Here are some tips for creating new habits and making them stick: 1.Start Small..Really Small Don’t try to completely change your life in one day. It is easy to get over-motivated and take on too much. The biggest challenge with building a new habit is that it can take up so much energy and willpower. The worst thing you can do is dive into the deep end and make a massive commitment straight away. 2.Make it Daily Consistency and Repetition is critical if you want to make a habit stick. If you want to start exercising, go to the gym every day for your first thirty days. Going a couple times a week will make it harder to form the habit. Activities you do once every few days are trickier to lock in as habits. 3.Form a Trigger A trigger is a ritual you create and use right before practicing your habit . If you wanted to quit smoking you could practice snapping your fingers each time you felt the urge to pick up a cigarette. 4.Try Removing all Temptations Restructure your environment so it won’t tempt you in the first thirty days. If you want to commit to a healthy diet for example, remove junk food from your house so you won’t need to struggle with willpower later. 5.Keep reminding yourself with the Benefits Familiarize yourself with the benefits of making that habit stick. Get books that show the benefits
of regular exercise if that’s your goal for example and notice any changes in energy levels after you take on a new diet. 6.Get back on track ASAP We have a natural tendency to give up on a new habit especially after we fail to take action or make a mistake. Particularly, in the very early stages of creating a new habit, your mind will find any possible excuse to abandon ship and revert back to your old habits. Instead of dwelling on your mistakes, focus on all the great moments you actually stuck to and followed through on the habit. Just like a baby learning to walk, building habits takes time, patience and persistence through failure. 7.Find Ways to Reward Yourself One of the reasons we develop many bad habits in the first place is because they make us feel good, even if it’s just temporarily. The experience of feeling good is meant to soothe us when we’re stressed out or feeling down. For example, you might over-eat and feel really good while doing it, but then you feel twice as bad afterwards, same goes for smoking. While you’re in the act you feel relaxed and trouble free, however, afterwards you feel remorse and vow to quit soon. So, in order to minimize falling off the wagon and slipping back into old, detrimental habits, reward yourself when you’ve done well. Habits are the key to achieving the health, wealth and achievement you dream of. They drive our daily actions and steer the direction of our lives just like a pilot steering the direction of an airplane, so do your habits. Simply pick one of the habits you’ve also wanted to achieve, use the above tips and try it out for a month. Take that first step to change your habits and transform your life for the better.

1. BACK TO HIGH SCHOOL DREAMS, HAVE YOU VISUALIZED YOURSELF A SUCCESSFUL PHYSICIAN, OR YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS WERE DIFFERENT BACK THEN? My career aspirations during the high school have all revolved around aviation. I practiced beginner and intermediate aviation programs at Switzerland. I wished to become a pilot; however my parents hoped to find me a successful physician just like my older siblings. When I started to study medicine, I aimed that my occupation as a physician will greatly affect the patients’ lives. So, I considered becoming a surgeon, I thought it would be a specialization in cardiology or neurology. Yet, the destiny brought me to cosmetics surgery. 2. YOU HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO STRENGTHEN YOUR STUDIES WITH AN INTERNATIONAL EXPOSURE. TELL US HOW DID IT REFLECT ON YOUR PERSONALITY AND THUS CAREER SUCCESS. Upon finishing my studies at the medicine university, I pursued my educational path at Boston university and then Mount Sinai school of medicine at New York, where all of my studies and practices were related to dermatology and cosmetic plastic surgeries; such as hair reparation using
the MOZ methodology, and skin cancer tumors’ surgeries. The decision to travel abroad is a huge turning point in my life for many reasons. I was still young, and leaving your country and family at the beginning of your life is not an easy matter to handle. Especially that you are challenged to prove yourself in a very dynamic and competitive market, competition in the medical industry is a tough job. This experience has enriched my character to develop all the skills needed to be competent in dealing with different people from various cultures, race, ethnic, and religious. The one must develop communication skills and has to be patient. You always have to remember that you are not only reflecting your personality and who you are, but you are representing your country and culture. The important thing in traveling and the cross-cultural exposure is to develop ones’ personal and professional skills. In return, you will end up successfully learning new and updated practical techniques, built a network with different physicians. 4. THE MOST CHALLENGING MOMENTS/SITUATIONS YOU HAVE LIVED AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME IT? The most challenging situation I have experienced, was diagnosing my mother with cancer. I was managing my life in the USA at that time. I had a kind of plan of staying there, and I was not considering returning back to the KSA any soon. I had my private clinic, I started to buy some assets, like an apartment and a car, and I have been building my life over there. Suddenly, I received a phone call from my brother informing me that my mother suffers from cancer. I came back to the KSA, and eight months afterwards, she passed away peacefully. This experience forced me to re-arrange my life priorities, because life is not only about work, there are our families, friends, and the other aspects of life that we must take care of. Accordingly I decided to stay in my country and I continued working on growing my professional path. I am a true believer that as much as you give, as much as you earn. The more you benefit people from your knowledge the more you become wiser, the more you provide love, understanding, and compassion to the patients the more I will receive in return. I honestly value my patients trust, respect, and love. I am not looking for fake fame, but I am always eager to learn from other people experiences and knowledge. No matter how high the one will reach, there is always a room for higher and better. I feel grateful for people feelings more than anything else. 5. WHAT IS THE MOTIVE TO KEEP EXCELLING IN YOUR CAREER PATH? “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” If you do not have your own dream and aspirations for your career, you will end up being a part of someone else’s dream. We must always plan ahead for the future. Thus, we have many business expansion plans and hopefully the upcoming stage we will be able to provide a wider array of medical services provided as well as upgrading the medical service at a higher level. I hope this expansion will provide the perfect representation for my country KSA, at the very first place, and the whole Arab world. May be I stopped for a while due to the workload at the clinic, and the surgeries. I find writing is not only a way to express myself, but it provides a better understanding for the self. I also love reading. Reading here is not tied to science, but into creative stories, or literature and life lessons. My favorite kinds of books are biographies, it add to my knowledge and it is in fact eye-opening to what is going on around me. Drawing and sculpting are also on my hobbies list, but unfortunately these two in specific I lack the time to perform. 7. HOW DO YOU DEFINE LIFE BALANCE? Since I ever started my career, I had a belief that it is hard to balance between personal and professional life. At some point, one is going to maneuver the other, to achieve astonishing success in work; you will sacrifice the personal life for a bit. I am thankful that my family understands and supports my career, and the idea of how much I am passionate towards what I am doing. It is a subjective matter; however, I define balance as seeing your goal achieved day after day. Luckily, my job satisfies this psychological balance. 8. WHAT ARE YOUR TOP 3 HUMAN VALUES THAT YOU LIVE BY? Faith, it gives me inner-peace. I go to the extra mile and perform the best I can in every aspect of my life, and I trust God will give me the best in return. Faith makes the one tolerate and capable to deal with any obstacles. Optimism, we all have drops in our lives and hard moments, yet, definitely there are dazzling positive moments that we need to turn the focus to, no matter how hard the current situation is. Although it might be tempting to let exercise take a back seat this month it is in fact an ideal time to get leaner and or stronger. HOW SOON AFTER A STRENGTH TRAINING WORKOUT SHOULD I EAT?
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CONTROL MY BREATHING WHEN DOING CARDIO?
It is debatable but it is believed that the “window of opportunity” is 3060 minutes after your workout. As a rule of thumb, try and have your post-workout meal directly after your workout. If that’s too soon, that’s okay. Just try to have your meal before that 60-minute window has closed. As for a balanced post workout meal, a whey protein shake with fruit would be a great choice for its convenience and the speed of which the nutrients can be absorbed by the body.
During cardiovascular exercise, you should make a conscious effort to breathe deeply through your diaphragm (nose) with a smooth purposeful rhythm. Try to breathe as naturally as possible just as long as you are not taking in short shallow breaths. This is not suggested and can cause more harm than good. If you come to a point in your exercise where you are losing control of your breathing patterns then you can reset your rhythm by taking deep breaths. Try this method by inhaling through your nose deeply and exhaling out your mouth for a few cycles. These should be elongated breaths. Gradually, you should start feeling a bit more control of your breathing as you start to breathe more normally.

The holy month of Ramadan is a great time of the year to break the chains of bad eating habits, but most of us are not reaping the full benefits of this month. With long fasting hours and the searing heat of the summer, staying healthy while fasting becomes more of a challenge. In fact, various studies and researches confirm the numerous benefits of fasting hence, the uprise of intermittent fasting diet trend followed by many celebrities and health fanatics all over the world. The concept of intermittent fasting mainly focuses on going for up to 16 hours without food with less emphasis on the type of food you eat yet, you can still gain muscles, reduce body fat, and boost ener-gy levels. After 8-12 hours of your last meal your body shifts to a fasting state, that is when you start burning fats. That being said, Ramadan is the perfect month to lose weight without going on a strict diet plan. It is recommended to start getting your body used to the long fasting hours before Ramadan to ensure a smooth transition into the Holy month. It is very common that most suffering happens during the first week of fasting until your body adapts to the new food schedule. You are advised to gradually delay your first meal of the day, and for fellow caffeine addicts like myself try to avoid that morning cup of coffee. One of the biggest struggles is being able to focus without coffee and from personal experience, it does help to cut down your caf-feine intake and get your brain used to focusing without coffee. When you go on coffee detox, you will be amazed by the results, as having more energy, being able to focus for longer hours, and better quality of sleep at night. Doing minor changes to your eating habits before Ramadan can drastically help with the long fasting hours. Once you start fasting consider the following nutritional plan:
BREAK YOUR FAST WITH A DATE
Dates are nutritious full of fibers, vitamins, minerals, and simple sugars. They immediately 40 | May 2018
refuel your body with everything it needs after long hours of fasting. Couple it with a glass of skimmed milk or 2 glasses of water and take a prayer break to suppress the initial need to devour what on the entire dinning table.
DON’T SKIP THE SOUP
A small portion of vegetable soup is ideal for an empty stomach. Avoid creamy alternatives as, they are heavy to digest and full of fats. Soup can help reduce heart burn because, it protects your stom-ach from the initial acid over shoot. Moreover, soup aids with the digestion of your main course.
LOVE THE SALAD
HYDRATE FROM SUNSET TILL SUNRISE We all know that drinking plenty of water right before dawn does not help with the thirst. Drink plen-ty of water during the non-fasting hours. Avoid spicy food, coffee, tea, and oriental desserts as they will dehydrate you and leave you feeling parched the next day.

Always remember that your sohoor meal is vital in order to maintain your energy levels the next day. It is important to keep it light and nutritious. Having yoghurt, bananas, beans, or oats are some of the few great options to try this Ramadan.
Make sure you have a big portion of freshly made salad dressed with olive oil and lemon, as it will help fill your stomach and replenish your body with water. Also, the fibers in the salad help with cleansing your colon and aids with constipation.

Do try a bite of everything on the iftar table but, avoid over eating. Ramadan is a perfect time for sharing and doing good, thus make it a habit to share your food with the needy versus eating it all by yourself.
Save the best for last, fruits and fresh juice are great during hot summer nights. They are a great source of vitamins and minerals. However, do not restrict yourself from having a bite size of that “Ko-nafa Nutella” a good couple of hours after you break your fast as a snack.
Try to avoid typical Ramadan sugar fueled drinks, heavily spiced foods, and deep fried foods. Not only are they bad for your health but, they are difficult to digest and will make you extremely thirty while fasting. Working out before or after sunset depends on your personal goals and physical limits. A minimum of 30 minutes exercise is needed on daily basis. Those who wish to lose weight, you can achieve dramatic results by exercising before iftar. While, those who wish to maintain their pre-Ramadan weight it is better to have your work out an hour after having your iftar meal. Pace yourself and stop if you feel light headed or experience any dizziness. The Holy month of Ramadan is a superb opportunity to go on a cleansing journey for literally your mind, body and soul. It is a great time of the year to do plenty of good and tighten the bond with your family and friends. Furthermore, Ramadan is an excellent chance to break the cycle of bad hab-its to be replaced by good ones. May this Ramadan be full of blessings, forgiveness, and good health.

Maintaining A Hydrated Body During RAMADAN Fasting during summer days makes thirsty feeling inevitable. What the one needs to work on is avoiding the dehydration of the body. Hydration is the only way to survive during the sunny days of summer along with fasting. It is crucial to maintain that one does not suffer either during fasting or once fast is broken. Water is the foundation of our body, we all know that our bodies are made up from 60% to 70% of water. That is mainly the reason why reducing the amount of water intake affects the body’s functionality, which may lead to headache, dizziness, tiredness of the whole body in general and the list just goes on. Most of these symptoms are experienced during Ramadan in particular. Looking at the bright side; it is possible to support our bodies to maintain water, resist the feeling of thirst, and reduce its intensity to prevent having a dehydrated body by following the basic principles of healthy nutrition during the month of fasting. Therefore, exerting some effort to avoid thirst would be easier than bearing the suffering. Let’s have a closer look on the principles of a healthy nutrition. They are divided into two lists, the first is Hydrating Food and Beverages and the other one is the Dehydration Food and Beverages. WAYS TO HELP THE BODY STAY HYDRATED: • WATER: It is the best of drinks and cannot be compensated for by any other drink. Experts recommend drinking one liter and a half of
water daily, preferably containing mineral, salts in order to compensate the salts that the body loses, especially while sweating. Lemon slices, fresh mint leaves, or grated ginger are good options to add a pinch of healthy flavor to water. • OTHER LIQUIDS: Natural fresh juices and hydrating beverages are definitely recommended. It is recommended to stay away from bottled juices which contain unnatural substances, colors, and preservatives, along with the large amounts of sugar. • EAT YOUR WATER: Fresh vegetables and fruits are the perfect items to complement the Suhoor meal. They contain a considerable amounts of water and fiber that stay reserved in the body for a long time through the intestines. In return, it reduces the feeling of both, hunger and thirst during the day.

Caffeine increases the activity of the kidneys and enhances its role in the excretion of urine. Thus, stimulants increase the process of losing water from the body.
THE DEHYDRATING LIST TO AVOID DURING THE WHOLE MONTH OF RAMADAN:
• SODA DRINKS: Avoiding soda during the Iftar meal is essential. The contained carbon which causes a feeling of fullness that prevents the body from using liquids. Try at least delaying the can timing in order to not interrupt the functionality of the body in terms of taking the benefits of the food and beverages input and reserving the needed water into body cells to survive the next fasting day.
• SALT: Pickles, salted fish, and other plates that include high salinity are better to be excluded from Ramadan menu. Salty platters increases the body needs for water which may be manageable before the fasting hours, yet, its effect is extended to during the daylight
REMEMBER THIS: Drinking iced water to break your fast does not replenish your thirst but can cause your blood vessels to contract and cause indigestion. For this reason, it is recommended that you drink water at room temperature or slightly cold if you prefer to.
Cucumber is the most popular when it comes to fighting thirsty. Its nutritious cellulose fibers facilitate the process of digestion, eject toxins, and purifies the intestines. It also works like magic in cooling the body.

INDULGING RECIPES TO TRY OUT AFTER IFTAR WATERMELON MILK SHAKE INGREDIENTS: • 1 tin Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk or 397 g, chilled • 750 g watermelon, chilled, cut into cubes and seeds removed • 1 teaspoon vanilla powder • 3 ice cubes HOW TO PREPARE: • Place all ingredients in an electric blender, blend for 2-3 minutes or until smooth. • Pour into serving cups and serve immediately.
POMEGRANATE AND DATES INGREDIENTS: • 1 and 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream • 4 cups pomegranate juice, bottled or 1000 g • 300 g date paste • 1 tin Nestlé® Sweetened Condensed Milk or 395 g • 1¾ cups skimmed yoghurt or 320 g, frozen • 600 g ice, crushed HOW TO PREPARE: Combine all the ingredients together in a blender except the crushed ice. As part of its ongoing efforts to enable trade, DP World Sokhna has launched a real time Vehicle Booking System (VBS), used by trucking companies delivering and collecting containers at the port. VBS enables customers to select the best time for their visits, allowing the terminal to proactively manage customer demand and provide faster turnaround. Every time a trucking company creates a new booking, the system checks and confirms that their details are correct, helping reduce unnecessary trips and costs caused by incorrect information so cutting the number of truck trips to the port.
