As we age, our charm starts to reduce and lessen. We start losing our attractiveness along the way. That is actually because fine lines begin taking over and they take place over our faces. While this is a natural process, we, unfortunately, have hand in making this happen. Aging inevitably happens, but there are a lot of factors that can even speed up our aging process and they are probably habits that we perform on a daily basis. The way you look is an indicator of your overall health; the more often you take care of yourself, the younger you are going to look. It is possible that you can look young even if you are already past your fifties. At the end, isn’t that the case with most of the prominent male celebrities? You don’t need to be a millionaire or own a fortune in order for you to be able to look as young as they do; however, you will need to have rules to abide by and a few alterations to your lifestyle that will help you easily get there. START FROM THE INSIDE

What you eat plays a great role in either speeding up or slowing down the aging process. Men who lead a healthy lifestyle often look younger at their 50’s than their junk-eater counterparts. Start from this moment; opt for healthier choices and make your meals mostly consistent of vegetables and fruits. Reduce the consumption of refined carbs, sugar, and empty snacks.

SKINCARE ROUTINE IS IMPORTANT

Well, as a man, taking care of your skin may be the last thing you would ever think about fitting into your schedule, if at all. Conversely, there isn’t much to do when it comes to taking care of your skin. On the other hand, you are probably aware of the significance of having a skincare routine. The most important part of keeping your skin looking young is to keep it always moisturized. All you need to do is use a cleanser and moisturizer every day and you’re ready to go. Another point you need to bear in mind is that the sun isn’t that friendly to your skin. You need to stay away from the sun at the hours

where the temperature is too high. In case you have to be in the sun, make sure you wear a sunscreen, for overexposure to the sun causes wrinkles and age spots and that is going to stand in the way of your goal. DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER Again, keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated is really important. But, you are not going to do this only through apply a moisturizer to your skin. You need to drink lots of water. Certainly, there is no point in emphasizing over the extreme importance of water because you surely have a clue. Dehydration can have a negative reflection on your outer appearance. Drink from six to eight glasses of water every day and see the difference it can make. When the skin is hydrated, your skin tone appears better and you, consequently, look more youthful. EXERCISE REGULARLY Skipping your classes or worse, ditching your workout regimen altogether, is going to do a great harm to your strategic plan of staying young and healthy. Working out helps in maintaining your body’s flexibility and define your muscles. Moreover, it is also good for your heart and mental health. Exercising can actually give a wide berth to multiple diseases. SLEEP FOR AN ADEQUATE AMOUNT OF TIME Sleep deprivation can negatively affect your life. You become fatigued and exhausted for almost all the time. Surprisingly, it can impact your appearance as well. You have probably noticed that on those days when you don’t sleep quite well, you get eye bags and look tired. Over and beyond, not having enough sleep can result in several health consequences that can make you look older than you actually are. QUIT SMOKING Needless to say, smoking impact your health, but even worse; it creates wrinkles around your mouth as well as your eyes. Smoking also make your skin look dull rather than radiant and it stains your teeth. There isn’t one thing about smoking that can keep you going on with it; it makes you look overcast and can cause health problems that will affect your appearance too.

1. PRIOR TO YOUR CURRENT ROLE AS CEO OF FCA EGY, COULD YOU PLEASE TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERTISE? First, I have 23 years of experience in the automotive industry, all with FCA. Starting from the time it was Fiat Auto, then when it has become Fiat Group and now as it has become Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, I can say I’ve been part of all the evolution process. During that time and until today, I’ve worked in several sectors of the company such as Mirafiori Presse plant, then moving to the Technical Department. From my role in Sales in Northern Italy, later I’ve been appointed as After Sales Manager for Belgium and Netherlands around 2006. Further my experience has broadened in Light Commercial Vehicles as Area Manager for Northern Europe and Scandinavia and then as Head of International Key Accounts. The New Challenge for FCA back then was to start business in Africa and I’ve been appointed as Area Manager for Central Africa, so I grabbed my luggage and went on digging for new importers to make business with and there I gained a great experience, it was quite an adventure. Later, I convinced the Headquarters that this part of the world can offer fruitful business opportunities to us and so my role and responsibilities have been expanded to the Middle East. Then one year ago, I got appointed as the CEO of FCA Egypt and I regard this as a unique opportunity.

2. WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO RELOCATE IN EGYPT? That’s a good point to discuss. First of all, I’m a fighter. It is not the difficult mission that stirs my enthusiasm, but rather I’m a man who goes after the impossible mission. We can say that there have been some indicators, especially from the economical perspective, that we are prone to face big challenges in the market. Nonetheless, I chose to carry on with determination and persistence to give the team of FCA Egypt something to be proud of. FCA Egypt ranks 1st in Africa in terms of contribution and ranks 10th in the European market, and in my opinion it is about time to bring the same success to Egypt because simply; this team deserves it, and this country deserves it. Speaking of the spectacular team in Egypt; as I come to think of it, people here have been facing many challenges especially that the market wasn’t at its best. And despite all the obstacles that may be reasons enough for the people to stop trying their best and stop delivering, every team member here has done their absolute best to succeed. On a personal level, Egypt makes me feel like home, especially that I Come from Calabria, Italy. We have many things in common with Egyptians in terms of traditions and the rich culture. I’m very eager to explore the opportunities that Egypt will bring to me, and most importantly it’s great to celebrate my 50th birthday here in Egypt.

3. IN YOUR OPINION HOW IS THE CONSUMERS’ APPETITE FOR EUROPEAN VEHICLES IN EGYPT ESPECIALLY AFTER THE ECONOMIC SITUATION? There’s an important aspect that I would like to clarify in regards to your questions. The right way to celebrate success or achievements isn’t in just speeches where you list things down, so this is why I like to speak with the results. Despite the challenges we faced in the market and the decline in the demands on vehicles in general, I’m very satisfied with the company’s results in 2017 especially that we’ve succeeded in achieving our target in terms of profit. We took major milestones that are worth to mention. Take for instance Fiat Tipo, the family car, though not the cheapest in the February 2018 | 27


market and with regards to its competitive price; it jumped to 5% of its share in the market in 6 months and ranked among the top 10 best-selling in its segment. This marks as a significant milestone especially at a time where the market was shrinking and the average Egyptian family might have been facing financial challenges. Well, let’s admit that Fiat has always been among the most favored cars for Egyptians and I think it’s about time to gain back its strong positioning in the market. Moreover we have introduced Alfa Romoe’s models Stelvio and Giulia at the Annual Automech Formula Motor Show. 4.WHAT CAN BE THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU FACE IN RUNNING A BRAND OF EUROPEAN IDENTITY IN A COUNTRY THAT MAY PREFER KOREAN OR JAPANESE? If the customers prefer Korean or Japanese brands, that makes it our fault. We work strategically especially from a marketing perspective to enhance our brand’s strength in the market and for Egyptians to experience the European luxury, and let’s be honest people here in Egypt love Jeep. When you meet customers’ needs in terms of spare parts availability, offering unrivalled aftersales services, in addition to serving the customer from the financial standpoint; we build an iconic position for our brand in the market. We cater different segments of customers from those who seek elegance and luxury, to the adventurous sporty drivers, and also those who seek practicality in family cars. 5. WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR 2018 IN TERMS OF EXPANSION? Given the pinnacle of success we reached in 2017, I’m expecting 2018 to be a year of potential growth. We’ve established very strong networking and rewarding collaboration with highly esteemed dealers in Egypt such as such as Abou Ghaly Motors, Ezz Elarab Automotive, El Tarek, and Nile Engineering. For Fiat we are approaching the market with remarkable results especially for Tipo, as for Alfa Romeo we are doubling the dealership. This is the year we are seeking to make a difference in the automotive industry and to attract more customers. In a market like that in Egypt, it is Vital to look for all the indicators and to implement the best strategy accordingly. Our objective is to look after the needs of the local market, especially from the financial perspective. 6.WHAT IS FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES’ STRATEGY REGARDING AFTER-SALES SERVICE? Our customers are our main asset. FCA’s main objective is building a long-term relationship of trust with our customers which doesn’t end at the selling point. From my earlier experience as After-sales Manager, the availability of spare parts and world-class services are fundamental aspects through which we can gain customers’ confidence 28 | February 2018


in us as a brand. We have a project in collaboration with our industrial partners to expand the service centers in order to facilitate the maintenance operations for our valued customers. Moreover we are working on a mobile application designed to enhance the communication with our customers and to promptly provide answers to their queries. 7. THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LEADERS, SOME LEAD BY EXAMPLE; OTHERS ARE VISIONARY AND A LOT MORE TYPES. WHICH TYPE OF A LEADER ARE YOU? Well, that’s a type of question that would be better addressed to my people in order to tell you how they perceive me. Instead of listing to you what I am, I prefer giving you an insight to what I am not. I’m not the type of a man who works according to a hierarchal structure, nor am I the bossy, authoritative type of manager. I don’t escape responsibility and I love to lead by example. I love to share every aspect with my team, to keep them in the picture, and when things get challenging; I roll up my sleeves so that together we fight the hardships, and I’ll always support them. I hate the negative work environment where every department is in constant race to prove itself as superior to other departments. This is not the type of environment that is able to produce or construct. I’m passionate about involving myself in everything, not out of interfering, but rather for the fruitful results every negotiation can bring. It is my duty to

convince the Headquarters that this is a great team, a great market, and the future to grow is here, and above all it is my main goal to remain persistent. 8. WHAT IS YOUR SECRET FORMULA FOR SUCCESS? In my opinion there isn’t a certain or exact formula for success. But my interpretation of success is demonstrated in integrity before professionalism. A successful man is one who communicates with his team with profound respect and honesty. 9. WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB? Nothing beats the feeling of working with a team who fights with all its strength to achieve astounding results. I have to admit that I feel an immense inner satisfaction when I succeed to make the impossible become possible. Opening the door of my office every morning to see my team looking up to me as a reference, as much as it makes me feel grateful, it also places a huge responsibility on my shoulder to make sure I’m always making the right thing, setting a positive example, and taking the most optimum decisions. 10. KEEPING THE CORPORATE TALK ASIDE, ITALIANS ARE FAMOUS FOR THEIR GREAT APPETITE FOR LIFE AND FOR LIVING PASSIONATELY. SO WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR THE THINGS

YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT? The thing I’m most passionate about is sports. One of the greatest pleasures is when I get to enjoy playing tennis after a long day at work, especially that I play with Egyptian champions. In my opinion sports also give you the opportunity to meet new people and to socialize. Bikes are my second passion; I’ve been a biker since I was 8 years old, so yes, 42 years of biking now. Moreover, I love playing music and there are plans to start a band. And of course let’s not forget the pizza. 11. WHAT ARE YOUR TOP THREE PRIORITIES IN LIFE? My wife and daughters are my top and utmost priority. My second priority is to be a positive example leading by integrity. As for the third priority, coffee without a doubt! 12. GIVE US 5 WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU BEST Passionate, fighter, curious, strongly determined, and well let’s say crazy, because let’s be honest here; coming to the Egyptian market at such a critical time and insisting to make a breakthrough is best described as crazy. 13. WHAT IS YOUR LIFE PHILOSOPHY OR THE MOTTO YOU LIKE TO LIVE BY? My grandmother has taught me this; if you don’t aim high, you’ll always arrive at an average level. DS 7 Crossback This car speaks elegance and performance. Four trims are available: Elegance, Performance Line, Prestige and Ultra Prestige. The entry-level trim gets rear parking sensors, lane departure warning and leather interior trim. Higher ones get 19in wheels, a reversing camera and all-round parking sensors, as well as wireless smartphone charging, electric seats and ambient lighting. The range-topping Ultra Prestige trim gets a full leather interior, adaptive cruise control with lane keeping assist, keyless entry and start, a 360deg camera and parking assistant, 20in alloys and a panoramic sunroof. DS’s active suspension scanning system is also fitted as standard; it uses a high-mounted camera near the top of the car’s windscreen to ‘read’ the surface of the road as it approaches, pre-setting the stiffness of the electronically variable dampers to prepare for larger bumps and compressions as they arrive.

LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR S ROADSTER The Aventador S Roadster uses Lamborghini’s 730bhp and 509lb ft 6.5-litre V12 and can accelerate from 0-62mph in 3sec dead. It tops out at 217mph. This is just one-tenth and 2mph down on its coupé alternative and ranks the V12 Lambo ahead of smaller open-roof supercars such as the Ferrari 488 Spider. LEXUS CT 200H Lexus has updated its CT 200h hatchback with design and safety upgrades intended to bring the six-year-old hybrid up to date as it enters its twilight period. Inside, a new 10.3in infotainment touchscreen with satellite navigation has been added to the center console on all but the entry model. That variant, the SE, sticks with the 7.0in screen of the old car and doesn’t come with sat-nav. The SE Plus Pack adds Lexus’s Safety System+, 17in wheels, rear parking sensors and sat-nav. Models above this gain keyless entry, heated front seats, privacy glass and front and rear parking sensors. A 13-speaker surround sound system is also available, while the F Sport trim gains bespoke exterior parts designed to add aggression to the body. No changes have been made to the CT 200h’s petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain, so it retains the 134bhp 1.8-litre engine, electric motor power plant and CVT gearbox of the pre-update car. Lexus claims 74.3mpg on the combined cycle.

VOLKSWAGEN UP GTI The fast and affordable junior Volkswagen hot hatch is back – and with 113bhp, the new Up GTI packs more power than the original Golf GTI. With 113bhp on tap at 5000rpm from a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine, the Up GTI’s peak power is a significant 30bhp down on the turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine of the 500 Abarth, but the very same output as the similarly configured turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine used by the Adam S. It is backed up by 147lb ft of torque between 2000 and 3500rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a closely stacked six-speed manual gearbox. Volkswagen claims a 0-62mph time of 8.8sec and a top speed of 122mph. This compares to a respective 0-62mph time and top speed for the original Golf GTI of 9.0sec and 113mph.

VOLVO XC40 The XC40 looks like it wants to do things slightly differently to those. Not in its mechanical make-up, necessarily, which is pretty straightforward (more on which in a moment), but at least in its design and ethos. Not only is it smaller, then, it’s a bit chunkier on the outside, and a bit funkier on the inside, than the more elegant but understated 60 and 90 models. It has two options; a 187bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine (D4) or a 247bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol (T5). Entry-level Momentum trimmed cars get LED headlights, automatic wipers and lights, rear parking sensors, 18in alloy wheels, cruise control plus a wealth of Volvo’s safety technology fitted as standard. There are also dual-zone climate control, keyless ignition, electric windows, and Volvo’s Sensus infotainment system complete with a 9.0in portrait touchscreen display, DAB radio, sat nav, and Bluetooth and USB connectivity. It starts with nutrition. The ratio that has worked well with my clients in terms of daily caloric consumption for lean muscle mass gains and minimal fat gain is the 16 calories per pound ratio. It also leans on exercise. Even when I’ve trained clients whose goal was to put on lean muscle mass, I still had them doing sprints at least 3-4 days per week, 20-25 minutes per day. You don’t need to lift the whole gym to make your muscles grow, but you want to lift heavier. You have to add stress and tension to muscles to make them grow. I advise a client to train at 80 percent of their one-rep max for each set. A rep count should be 10-12 reps. Once you can separate the myths from the truth about natural muscle gains, you’ll be on your way. Train hard, eat healthy, be patient, and it will happen!

For bodybuilders, this is one of those timeless questions, the sort that you’d climb to the top of a Himalayan peak to ask a wise guru. What would the guru say? “It depends,” of course! Your schedule, your program, and your style of training all play a part in determining what works best for you. But before you slide back down the mountain, hear me out! We’ve definitely learned a lot in recent years about how to time nutrition around cardio, and none of it is too hard to implement. And at least you got your cardio on the way up! One possibility is that the greater fat loss can be explained by the fact that those subjects limited carbohydrate intake for several hours before and after their cardio bout. In contrast, the Schoenfeld study gave subjects carbohydrates either immediately before or after the event.

CAN YOUR CHEAT MEAL HELP YOU BURN FAT?

The best quality of any statuesque body is a set of round, strong shoulders—the ones that look like over-inflated balloons. The problem is, not many guys can brag about their shoulders. Most dudes have overpowering front deltoids born from years and years of heavy bench press. I was guilty of this when I first started working out. It took years before I learned that there was a rear deltoid! My approach to training balanced shoulders varies from client to client, but I usually prescribe a routine based around the medial and rear deltoids. By putting some extra focus on the middle and rear head of your delts, you’ll add shape and size you didn’t even know you could have. Hitting your delts in this way will also increase your strength so you can officially come out of the wuss zone.

One thing that many people don’t realize is that cheating can actually help you lose fat by helping your body maintain a higher metabolic rate. If you follow a low-calorie or low-carb diet consistently over a long period of time, your metabolic rate (the number of calories your body burns each day) will drop. Your body does this to conserve energy, at a time when you’re not giving it all it wants. Think of it this way: The fat cells in your body are basically spare fuel tanks. If you start emptying all of your fuel tanks, your body will try to conserve some fat for possible future needs. So, ironically, the stricter your diet, the more efficient your body becomes. The net effect is that your body learns to use fewer calories to do the same functions. Cheating, by increasing calories and the amount of calories you get from certain macronutrients like carbs and fat, can help to prevent your metabolism from slowing down so quickly. For example, in my experience, when you’re following a low-carb diet it is critically important to include one weekly high-carb day.

If you are getting adequate rest but you’re still not feeling energized in the morning, the problem may be that your body is in a state of ketosis after fasting throughout the evening during your sleep. Ketosis is when the body is using fat for energy. If you aren’t eating enough carbohydrates, then your body turns to fat for energy. This can cause that low energy feeling before your workouts. Green tea, green juices, coffee and even getting sunlight can help boost energy levels. Starting your workout routine with a fast-tempo, blood circulating dynamic warm up may not only help boost energy but will help prevent injuries caused by low energy, low focus workouts.

Feelings of prolonged fatigue after a workout are typically a sign of over-training or a deeper lying issue within your lifestyle choices. Here are some behaviors to consider. If you meet any of the following, you may need to stop the behavior altogether to eliminate feeling tired post-workout. Your fatigue could be a result of a sugar crash post-workout. Drink green tea for a natural boost. If you are undergoing intense training such as group circuit training, you should not be getting anything less than 7 hours every night. Fried, sugary or processed foods cannot be metabolized properly, leaving your digestive system and immune system strained, resulting in fatigue. Your body needs time to repair and rebuild itself. o you suffer from migraines and headaches on a regular basis? Did you ever experience an episode of pounding headache after eating certain foods? It is not just in your head, you are actually onto something. It is a fact that you are what you eat. Many researches have shown that some food can trigger an episode of migraine while other food choices can help alleviate the condition. Some people report having more migraine attacks after eating particular foods, while others have more frequent head pain after fasting. Others don’t have any food triggers at all. Examining your eating habits can help you maintain a balanced diet and identify patterns that could help reduce migraine attacks.

A diet of five or six small portions of fresh food throughout the day can prevent migraine attacks in a variety of ways. It can prevent hunger-based headaches, reduce the likelihood of eating multiple, potentially triggering foods at once, and help avoid weight gain. Once you’ve established healthy habits, you’ll have a neutral baseline to compare against foods you suspect may be triggering your migraine. Any observations you can make about how your diet relates to your migraine attacks can be useful in reducing your symptoms. If you commit to taking a close look at your possible food triggers, there are steps you can follow to get the best outcomes: 1- Test foods one by one 2- Do not cut out all of your potential trigger foods at once or for long. 3- Avoid stress, which can compound your symptoms, and makes it more difficult to determine which food, if any, triggers your migraine attacks. 4- Keep a headache diary, record any changes you are making to your diet, and note how severe and frequent your headaches are, and which foods you were eating or avoiding when they occurred. 5- Any single food item is to qualify as a 48 | February 2018

• Food additives and preservatives found in hot dogs, sausage, pepperoni, and other cold cuts.

• Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is an active ingredient found in soy sauce and asian packaged foods.

• Cold foods as eating cold ice cream or drinking ice cold drinks quickly.


Less commonly the following foods have been reported to cause headaches: • Peanuts, peanut butter, almonds, and other nuts. • Pizza or other tomato-based products. • Potato chip products. • Chicken livers. • Smoked fish. • Pickled foods. • Freshly baked goods (donuts, cakes, and homemade breads) • Crackers, and desserts containing cheese. • Beans including fava, lentils, dried beans, and peas. • Onions. • Avocados. • Certain fresh fruits, including ripe bananas, citrus fruits, plums, raspberries, kiwi, and pineapple.

• Dried fruits (figs, raisins, dates). • Cultured dairy products, sour cream and yogurt. • Artificial sweeteners and aspartame. On the other hand, caffeine is found in chocolate and cocoa beverages such as coffee, tea, and colas. Small amounts may improve a migraine, but limit it to 200 mg /day ( 2-3 servings of coffee /day). Too much caffeine or caffeine withdrawal can provoke headaches. Also, there is evidence that some remedies can help treat migraines as, massage therapy, vitamin B2, and magnesium supplements.

Heat 1/2 teaspoon oil in a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Add green onions; sauté 1 minute. Add bell pepper; sauté 1 minute. Add mushrooms; cook 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in tomato, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and black pepper; cook 30 seconds. Remove vegetable mixture from pan; cover and keep warm. Place 1/4 teaspoon salt, parsley, eggs, and egg whites in a bowl; stir well with a whisk to combine.

Place 1/2 teaspoon oil and butter in skillet over medium-high heat until butter melts. Add egg mixture to pan; cook until edges begin to set (about 2 minutes). Repeat procedure on opposite edge of omelet. Continue cooking until the center is just set (about 7 minutes).

Put a spoon vegetable mixture evenly over 1/2 of omelet; top vegetable mixture with cheese. Loosen omelet with a spatula; fold in half. Carefully slide omelet onto a serving platter. Cut omelet into 4 wedges; top with sour cream. Serve immediately.

THE ULTIMATE FRENCH OMELET Yield 1 Serving

Ingredients 1 tablespoon water 3 eggs, as fresh as possible, preferably organic and free-range, room temperature 2 knobs unsalted butter 1 tsp finely, freshly grated parmesan (or vegetarian alternative) 2-3 chopped tarragon leaves 1 tbsp each snipped chives and chopped chervil or parsley 3 rounded tbsp finely grated Gruyère

Crack the eggs into a bowl and beat them with a fork so they break up and mix, but not as completely as you would for scrambled egg. With the heat on medium-hot, drop one knob of butter into the pan. It should bubble and sizzle, but not brown. Season the eggs with the Parmesan and a little salt and pepper, and pour into the pan.

• Cut on sugar, simple carbs (such as bread and pasta), refined carbs such as sweets and bakeries , fried foods and alcohol, and to replace them with plenty of vegetables, lean proteins, foods rich in healthy fats (such as oily fish, avocado and nuts) • Avoid crisps and go for nuts as small handful of unsalted unroasted mixed nuts provides stomach-filling healthy fats and many essential minerals.
