A Community Empowered by the Arts

Getting the Most Out of Your Experience

Making the most of your arts investment is an important goal. To assist you in doing so, we encourage the following:

1.Meet your child's teacher and develop a rapport. Build a partnership that leads to lasting success for your student.

2.Demonstrate a positive attitude about their arts education. If you value it, they will too.

3.Help your child prepare. Make sure they practice and set time aside to prepare each week. Growth requires discipline. The arts provide a perfect training ground for developing this essential life skill.

4.Ask for help if you think your child may need it. Every child learns differently. You know more about your child then your teacher does. Let the teacher know your concerns.

If you feel that the class or teacher are not the right fit, we urge you to follow the steps as outlined below.

1.You or your child attend at least three classes as a full participant.

2.As a parent, you observe at least one class.

3.You attempt weekly communication with your child's teacher about the class, its objectives, and how to make the most of the class for you and your child.

4.After those prerequisites have been met and you still are concerned about you or your child's progress, you may request a meeting with the teacher, department director (as applies) and the CEO. After that conversation, the student may be requested to join to give them a chance to detail their concerns.

To access our Summer 2024 registration policies, visit www.fineartsassociation.org/education/summer-at-faa/ or, if on-line, click here.

We hope that these opportunities to discover and communicate lead to the best possible outcomes for you, your child, and the teacher.

DANCE INSTRUCTION

• The Fine Arts Association Dance Program offers Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Hip Hop, Interpretive, African dance, Dance for Musical Theatre, and Adaptive Dance.

• We welcome dancers as they are and at any level, age and experience. Utilizing these guiding factors, dancers are placed with intention to ensure safety, achievement, and enjoyment. Students are evaluated annually to continue proper placement relative to program, dancer, and family goals.

• Young dancers (ages 7 and under) are offered creative movement and ballet/tap combination classes. These classes provide a foundation of dance terminology and movements. Our instructors will use locomotor and non-locomotor movement to develop and increase coordination and spatial awareness.

• Dancers studying in the upper-level classes will develop technical proficiency, style and performance qualities, and an overall understanding of the many paths they can pursue dance.

• Overall, no matter the age, we provide a safe space for students, to learn, express, grow, unite, and have fun.

Dance Companies

• Edge, Verge and Emerge are FAA's three-tiered dance companies. Dancers audition to join. These dancers will have the opportunity to experience competitions, conventions, and many performance opportunities throughout the region.

• 2024 Dance Company Auditions will be held during the Summer 2024 semester For the latest information, visit fineartsassociation.org/education/dance.

Private Dance Lessons:

• Refine your technique with individual attention. Classes are tailored to further develop skills based on individual goals. Contact Customer Experience at (440) 951-7500 for further information.

PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUCTION

Recital opportunities

• The Fine Arts Association provides regular opportunities for music students to perform in recitals. General recitals are free, and the community is welcome! If you are a music student interested in participating in a general recital, please communicate with your instructor.

Suzuki Instruction

• Dr. Shinichi Suzuki began to teach music by applying the basic principles of learning language. When learning a language, one listens, speaks, reads and writes, in that order. In the Suzuki approach, the student listens, plays, then reads and writes.

• What is different about The Suzuki Method? Learn more at: fineartsassociation.org/education/music .

Theatre Arts Camp (grades 3-12)

School for Supers!

Theatre Arts Camp engages campers in the process and skills involved in performing in a musical play with the script and songs tailored especially for the talents of the campers. Classes and rehearsals are designed as lessons in acting methods, dance techniques, and vocal music skills. Camp culminates in a fully staged ticketed production in the final weekend of camp. This year's show is School for Supers! It's back to school for all the kids at Stanley Martin Lieber Preparatory School for Gifted Youngsters. But Boo Schneider is the only student in the school that hasn't developed their powers yet, and they're in danger of being sent to...PUBLIC SCHOOL! To make matters worse, strange things keep happening on campus, and Boo is always in the wrong place at the right time. Can Boo's friends use their super powers to prove their innocence and solve the mysterious goings on at the Junior Hero's Challenge before it's too late?

Placement audition required for NEW campers only. Returning campers don't need to audition. Each audition will consist of a short song and a monologue. More audition information can be found on our website. Students may register at any time, but new campers need to schedule an audition for placement by calling Customer Experience at 440-951-7500.
