Largy College is a co-educational school delivering educational excellence to the community of Clones and surrounding areas.
Our school is committed to delivering a high quality education and adopts a holistic approach to the education of each student in our care.
Largy College offers a wide and varied range of programmes at both Junior and Leaving Certificate level. Alongside the traditional Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate, at which we excel, we offer both LCA and JCSP programmes to those who wish to pursue an alternative path.
A committed and dedicated staff encourages every student to reach his/her full potential in every aspect of school life. In addition, students are encouraged to take as many higher level subjects as appropriate.
Largy College is a thriving centre for education. We work closely with the local community and other agencies to foster the development of the individual and collective talents of all students and staff. This is achieved in a safe, state of the art and nurturing environment with the aim of developing each student into a well rounded, responsible and educated individual.

Soccer
The School is affiliated to the FAI Schools Ulster Branch and our soccer teams have competed in a variety of competitive age groups in Ulster Cup and League competitions throughout the 2024/25 season.
Following on from the success of the last number of seasons, we won more silverware in the 2024/25 school year with our U19 Boys winning the FAI Schools Cavan/ Monaghan competition. The teams have displayed great enthusiasm and spirit throughout their respective tournaments with a high level of technique and skill on show. A special congratulations to Sarah McCaffrey, TY, who is currently representing the Irish National team.
Basketball
Largy College has excelled on the Basketball court in recent times with our Boys and Girls teams competing at all levels from first year right up to U19. The 2024/25 season was no exception with both the Girls and Boys at all age groups competing well in their respective competitions. The U16 Girls reached the North East Regional Semi-Final and were unlucky to lose out by only one basket. The U19 Girls also came close as they were narrowly beaten in the North East Regional Final also. There is a solid platform for further Basketball success in the years to come and we look forward to nurturing the emerging talent at all levels.
Golf
Last year marked an exciting milestone for our school community with the official establishment of our very own school golf team. Golf is one of the fastest-growing sports in the Clones area, and we wanted to provide an opportunity for students to represent Largy College on the fairways and greens.
Each year, the Largy golf team competes in the newly launched Cavan/Monaghan Schools Golf Championship. This event allows golfers of all levels to compete for the title of Drumlin Champion Golfer of the Year. Our school proudly defeated six other schools to win the team event at last year’s championship.
The launch of the school golf team reflects our commitment to offering a wide range of sporting opportunities for students. Last year, we had 13 golfers sign up. This year, we already have over 30 students involved! Who knows—perhaps the next Leona Maguire or Rory McIlroy is here at Largy.

We contested 3 Ulster finals, Boys U13.5 McKee Cup, U14.5 Mc Devitt Shield & U 19 Faul Cup, winning two of the Ulster titles on offer while narrowly losing the U19 final.
Indeed many of our players throughout the years have represented Monaghan at development squad level and Minor level while some of our past pupils have played for Monaghan at senior level in both Mens and Ladies GAA.
With our top class sports facilities and expertise, we aim to further develop these teams in the coming years and look forward to watching the players develop. Our feeder clubs are doing great work at grassroots level ensuring that the calibre of player enrolling in Largy College is very high.
