Vivi’s cat visits LLNC Vivi’s Cat He was a stray cat, in fact little more than a kitten, when Vivi found him dumped by the side of a road. After a quick trip to a local vet for an immediate health check she took him home. Day by day his health improved until he grew into the healthy, happy and much loved cat that you can see in the photo on the right.

Dragon Boat Festival Praynka 林家瑋, a first year student of Cultural Creative Industries at DYU tells us about her experience of this year’s Dragon Boat Festival. I had a very special Dragon Boat Festival. Ping-He village 平和社區 is nearby Da-Yeh University, but students and teachers seldom go there and may not even know where it is. Actually, it is a very beautiful place well worth a visit. For instance, there is Lu Garden which has many cute ducks.
Dragon Boat Festival, is one of the best times of the year to visit here since many Taiwanese will row boats in river and take part in boat races. Beside the river there are many food stalls selling rice dumplings and drinks. There are also some game stalls. The most special activity was egg painting. You could take an egg for free and paint it. After painting an egg, you could put your painted egg on the sand for everyone to see and admire its beauty. ____________________

Sky Lanterns
Writing a wish on a lantern then letting it fly away up into the sky.
Anita 林芳玉, a first year student of Cultural Creative Industries at DYU tells us about Peng-xi’s Sky Lanterns. I hope my sky lantern rises slowly up into the sky in order to give me time to make my wish. Writing on and letting a Sky Lantern rise up into the sky is probably the best known activity in Ping-xi. This was originally used as a way to pass messages but these days it is usually a ritualistic way of making a wish. You can travel to Ping-xi to write a wish on a lantern and watch it rise up into the sky at any time of the year.

Tony & Christina at Nantou’s Star Moon Sky Restaurant and Farm Tony 楊國謙
and Christina 黃佳渝, first year students of Industrial Engineering Management 工業工程與管理系 at DYU tell us about their trip to Nantou.
Tony and Christina very much enjoyed visiting
Nantou’s Star Moon Sky Restaurant and Farm. There were many animals here to see. Tony’s favourite animal was the little piglet that you can see him holding in the picture on the left. Christina liked the fish best. Star Moon Sky Restaurant and Farm opens Monday to Friday from 5pm to midnight. On Saturday and Sunday it is open from 11am to midnight. It is a great place to see the stars and Changhua’s night lights.

Aleister gets all wet and dirty Aleister 方晨安, a first year student of English 英語學系 at DYU shares with us a photo of himself jumping across the Gaomei Wetland Wildlife Refuge in Taichung.
I felt so wonderfully free here so I just had to jump joyfully across the mud. My clothes got very messy from playing in the mud but it was a really great way to relax and have fun. If you would like to get a little closer to nature and do not mind getting a little dirty why not visit the Gaomei Wetland Wildlife Refuge?
