bridging agriCULTURE The second floor of Design North building has been underutilized since the relocation of the coffee shop. How would the design change to create a sense of place while incorporating agriculture? The Hohokam civilization was a source of inspiration. The development of their canal system was ahead of its time because through this innovation it allowed crops to thrive in a desert climate. Their crafts such as traditional baskets and pottery influenced the design. Like the canals sustained the survival of Phoenix as a city, Bridging Agriculture will sustain the second floor’s function.
