Musicians At HC Donna-Lisa Yearwood is a young lady who has always had music play a significant role in her life. As a current Lower 6th student studying Economics, Communication Studies, History, and Sociology, the 17-year-old always grew up with Music and the Arts in her life. Donna-Lisa exclaimed that although she initially started playing the steel pan when she was around 9 years old as a way to avoid dance practice, music became an escape mechanism. Donna-Lisa is also a singer and has been singing for as long as she can remember with her parents' careers as professional singers playing an influential role in that love. She has had the pleasure of performing at many events including Harrison College’s Mosaic VII: Rhythms ‘Round the Sandbox Tree in 2020 and at the Caribbean Festival of Arts. She also had the opportunity to be featured on the international TV station Kids Time 3ABN in an episode where they focused on Barbados. Donna-Lisa also explained that she was 1 of 4 kids chosen to be flown to Tennessee in the United States to record in a recording studio; however, due to unforeseen circumstances, the trip was cancelled. When looking toward the future, Donna-Lisa expressed interest in becoming a producer and is even looking at going overseas to

obtain a Minor in Music Production. The production of Gospel and Soca music specifically piques her interest as she wants to expand the Gospel genre beyond the traditional Gospel renditions to appeal to individuals of all ages. When asked if she could change the music industry and possibly the world, she expresses that she wants to change the public perception of Gospel music from

This young lady is no other than Divine Innis of Lower Science 1, who is the founder of ‘My Glitzy Haven’. Divine is currently undertaking Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at CAPE Level, however, she expresses her admiration for her place in the beauty industry. Divine possesses a distinct joy in producing cosmetic supplies, especially lipgloss bundles and all of the “pretty, glitzy stuff”. At ‘My Glitzy Haven’, Divine stresses that all customers are free to express their feedback and all attempts will be made to accommodate each customer and consistently improve products whenever possible. In her own right, Divine has a lot on her plate and is trying her best to balance her business with the rigours of her everyday life, however, she emphasises that she sees her business as a long-term endeavour and wants to keep it running successfully.
