he summer usually brings about family BBQs, 4th of July celebrations, and poolside parties. Here in the desert heat of the borderland those activities are best completed with an ice-cold beverage in hand. El Paso’s own, Yvette MarquezSharpnack, has partnered up with Vianney Rodriguez to create
“Latin Twist,” a recipe book for Latin American cocktails that are sure to keep you cool this summer. Covering multiple Latin countries plus Spain, these ladies have provided us with a go-to cocktail bible that is sure to be dog-eared and stained from so much use. Not only do the cocktails look delicious, they taste delicious and they are easy to make. A great cocktail to try is from Costa Rica called the Guarita. “If you love margaritas, you are going to love this Costa Rican version.” Made with a homemade Sweet and Sour Margarita Mix (that they have included the recipe for), water and vodka, this is just one of the drinks you can cool off with this summer as you gather around with friends and families. “Latin Twist” is available at your local Barnes and Noble store.
