In late January, we celebrated our 2024 Annual Meeting/A More Casual Evening. I want to thank all the sponsors and those who attended for making the event a success. We recognized those in a Society Level for 2024, Marshall High School for the remodel and the particulars of The Workforce Institute. We welcomed the incoming Board Chair, Shannon Bannerman (Riley’s Furniture) and “Thanked” outgoing Board Chair, Rhonda Seidenschmidt (Premier Health). Those in attendance enjoyed making new connections.

Passport to tomorrow

Middletown City Schools are thrilled to celebrate a major milestone for Middletown High School: the approval of the new Program of Study by the Board of Education!

This marks a significant step forward in redesign efforts to provide students with robust, future-focused educational opportunities tailored to meet their aspirations and prepare them for success in an ever-evolving world.

The newly approved Program of Study reflects their commitment to careers, innovation, academic rigor, and experiential learning.

Highlights include:

• Expanded Career-Focused Options: Students now have access to a broader range of educational tracks, including advanced opportunities in fields such as healthcare, engineering, information technology, and the arts.

• Focus on Experiential Learning: Building on the success of their Experiential Learning Days, the Program of Study incorporates more opportunities for project-based learning, internships, and community partnerships.

• Elective Offerings: From agriculture and cybersecurity to fine arts and culinary arts, the range of electives has been thoughtfully expanded to cater to diverse interests and talents.

The development of this program was a collaborative effort. The result is a comprehensive framework that reflects the needs and aspirations of the students and community.

The Workforce Institute

The main objective of the program is to further erode the walls between education and business.

The program is designed to build awareness among teachers, administrators (educators) and local employers so educators may learn more about the skills that local employers need.
