LETTER FROM THE EDITORS

espite the unseasonably cool august weather…we made it through. Honestly, I feel like we got robbed of August and I’m totally not ready for summer to be over. Yet, time waits for no one and September kicks off the second half of the rally season. Swear, September and October have become two of the busiest months of the year. We are kicking off September with Smokeout 25 in Salisbury and ending it in Myrtle Beach for the Fall Rally. There are a ton of local events too, just check out the Cruisin’ Calendar and try to keep up!

This years Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine Bike Show Tour has three more dates Oct 2nd, 4th and 25th. The 2nd and 4th are during the fall rally and the last date of 2025 will be at Cox’s Double Eagle H-D in West End, NC. These are elite bike shows with FREE registration that you can win your way to the 4th Annual Full Throttle Custom Bike Show in the Greensboro Coliseum on January 31st, 2026. Don’t miss out!

Check out the front cover of this months issue and check out the behind the scenes action at Carolinas’ Biker Lawyers calendar shoot. Bob & Ginger Karney, Sean Clayton and the CBL crew have been creating this iconic 12 month calendars for over a decade and giving them away for FREE! Every year its filled with the coolest bikes and the hottest bike builders in the Carolinas. We are sorta partial to that cover bike and have been honored to have some of our favorite bikes featured in the calendar too! Don’t forget to scan the QR code on page 5 to submit YOUR bike and story to be considered for an upcoming calendar!

As always, we hope to see you out on the road. If you see us out and about, make sure you come over and say hi, the biker community is our family and that includes you.

BIG DADDY’S MEMORIAL PARTY

f you haven’t been to big DaDDy’s RoaD house in a while, you may or may not have heard about the demise of Mike “Big Daddy” Aguirre.

On August 9, 2023, at the age of 70, Big Daddy passed away unexpectedly. His passing left a hole in many hearts, and he is still remembered fondly, and I hear stories of his exploits often setting on the very stool he sat at most every day.

After his passing, former bar manager and good friend of Big Daddy, Stephanie Storm, stepped in to keep the bar open and coordinated a celebration of life. Stephanie did eventually purchase the bar and left the name to honor her friend. And this year, on August 9th, she held a Memorial Party to allow others to remember him as well. Friends chipped in to make the day truly memorable, cooking BBQ, baked beans, and slaw, prepping and serving, clean up, parking and generally jumping in to help in any way they could.

While there were three bands scheduled to perform that day, the first had to cancel last minute due to a tick bite/lime disease (hope you’re feeling better Brian). But that didn’t stop the ebb and flow of the growing and changing crowd of faces. Some came and stayed the day I believe, while others, like

The day before the Memorial Party, Stphanie posted the following on social media:

“My heart is heavy thinking about tomorrow. It’s crazy how you changed my life in so many ways. I get asked all the time if I’m going to change the name of the bar or why I haven’t. I only have one answer. If you had sold it to me while you were alive, I would have. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen like that. This was your baby, and I would never want to take that from you. Now it is mine, but I’m trying my best to move it forward and yet to keep your baby the same. It’s a fine line but, so far, it’s working. Literally I have dropped tears a few times today, in the hopes that I have made you proud. I hope you are.

Rest easy my friend, I miss you too much!”

I feel pretty confident that Big Daddy would approve of the way she has made Big Daddy’s Road House her own, while staying true to its roots. It seems certain for now, that Big Daddy’s touch on the establishment, and the people who frequent it, will be remembered for a long time to come. Now for those who have never been to Big Daddy’s Road House, I encourage you to stop by, I promise you will not regret it!

myself, stayed a few hours, to those who popped in to tell their favorite stories over a beer or two.

hen i tell you this bike show was coming in hot, I mean it was on fire. But another scorching day in the Carolinas didn’t keep 54 bikes from registering in the sixth stop on the Full Throttle Magazine Bike Show Tour ’25. So far, the bike show tour has been in Harbinger, NC, Murrells Inlet & Myrtle Beach, SC and Burlington, NC with the fifth stop landing at Dog House Harley-Davidson in Rock Hill, SC. Anyone who has been paying attention knows that Dog House throws some bodacious parties with huge turnouts and we wanted to add to this stellar reputation with a big bike show.

On July 19th, Full Throttle rolled into town ready to check out the hottest bikes in Rock Hill. The show bikes started rolling in while we were still setting up, two hours before the registration officially started! The lot was packed with vendors setting up including Carolinas’ Biker Lawyer, Dirty Threadz Clothing Company, Law Tigers SC and others along with a handful of food trucks. We were set up right next to our friend, the world renowned, Ray Spencer of Universal Customs Pinstriping and was able to watch him at work, beautifying bikes all day (and well after the show was over!). When show time came around the Second Wind Band cranked up to 11 and started wailing on them guitars. They do a hell of a job playing a ton of southern rock, classic rock and country tunes. These guys have played multiple Full Throttle parties and always do a good job.

By noon the parking lot was absolutely packed with bike show bikes and spectators creating a parade of gorgeous bikes. Speaking of gorgeous, the Dog House Divas were doing their best to steal the show from the lot full of chrome with super sudsy bikini bike wash. The Divas were set up in one of the first tents when you ride onto the lot and I know they were turning heads and creating some distracted riding! More Divas were set up inside the dealership, in the ice-cold AC,

The Carolinas’

slinging cold drinks and day dreams. Dog House has a huge selection of new and pre-owned Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and the sales staff had their hands full hooking people up with their dream rides.

Around 2pm the sun was cooking, the bikes were smoking and we had our hands full judging these stellar customs. Rock Hill did not disappoint. Shovels, Knuckles, Pans, Twin Cams, M8s and even a couple CB750 choppers were all on display in the bike show. Tim Priest, our Charlotte/South rep and I made several rounds throughout the bike show parking picking apart the winners, who were edging out the competition. The points margin was so close we had to call in Hollywood Jay Greenfield to give a tie breaking vote in one of the classes. Winners of the day looked like this.

Vintage Class: Kaylan Baker 1951 Panhead

Chopper Class: Tim Morton 1981 FLH

Cruiser Class: Stuart Ellis 2024 H-D Lowrider

People’s Choice Award: Jeff Hartley 1970 Honda CB 750 Chopper

Best In Show: Andy Anderson 2019 H-D Street Glide.

It’s not often that we double up awards, but Andy Anderson’s radical bagger was outstanding at the bike show and both Justin Matis, Dog House H-D GM, and Marlee (Lilbit) Dog House Marketing Manager knew it was hot and chose it for the Dog House H-D Choice Award. There was no way that it didn’t win Best In Show as well! Huge thanks to everyone involved. The bike show was outstanding and partly because the event execution by Marlee and her event crew at Dog House Harley-Davidson of Rock Hill. The Best In Show and Full Throttle Choice award bikes are invited to attend the 4th Annual Full Throttle Custom Bike Show on January 31, 2026 inside the Greensboro Coliseum!

Eddie (Opossum) Hill’s 1st Memorial Ride

n July 26th, one of the hottest days of the summer, Reni Simpon hosted the 1st Memorial Ride to honor her late husband, Eddie Hill, also known as “Opossum.” This ride wasn’t just about remembering a beloved husband, friend, brother, and legend in the North Myrtle Beach biker community—it was about supporting two of Eddie’s favorite charities: Kind Keepers NO KILL Animal Shelter and The Hutton House. Eddie’s heart was as big as his bike. He was always giving back to the community and had an infectious smile that made him beloved by so many. Whether it was with a handshake or a hug, Eddie’s warm presence was felt by all. The turnout that day was a testament to just how much he was respected and missed. Reni knew the best way to honor her husband wasn’t just with a ride—it was with an event that gave back. And that’s exactly what it did.

The day kicked off early at 17 Customs, where participants registered and enjoyed Krispy Kreme doughnuts and coffee. Some of the animals available for adoption were there, so the crowd got to meet them before the ride began. Kind Keepers, a non-profit organization in North Myrtle Beach, is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating homeless animals. They provide veterinary care, food, and love until these animals find their forever homes. The Hutton House, named after military veteran Denny Hutton, supports veterans who are transitioning from homelessness. Thanks to the incredible volunteers at the center, they’ve been able to help over 55 veterans who were living in their cars get back on their feet and reintegrate into society.

The cause was clear, and the turnout was remarkable. Over 125 bikes registered, and more than 300 people showed up that day. Originally, the ride was planned to be a 90-minute journey through scenic backroads, but the heat forced a change to a 45-minute ride. The Rivertown RC did an incredible job of escorting the ride, as did the local police. One of the most heartwarming moments was learning that Eddie’s son rode down from Maryland on his father’s old bike, and he and Reni rode together in honor of Eddie. It was a beautiful tribute.

The celebration continued with a fantastic after-party at Os-

car’s, thanks to owner Carla Williams. As you walked through the door, you were greeted by baskets for the silent auction and raffle prizes, generously donated by local businesses. At least 30-40 local businesses contributed, with gift certificates and items to support the cause. The sense of community was overwhelming. The food was equally impressive, with a massive fruit tray prepared by Carl Bellamy and delicious desserts from Dick and Jeanette Spatafore. Everyone enjoyed the food and drinks while listening to music by Predice Hendricks. A special thank you goes out to the staff at Oscar’s, as well as Reni’s family and friends, who helped make the event a success.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, Reni exceeded her goal of raising $5,000. After covering expenses, they raised over $7,000—more than enough to split between the two charities, with each receiving over $3,400. These funds will help Kind Keepers with the costs of building a new facility and assist The Hutton House with their center’s operational expenses and the construction of Tiny Homes. If you’re interested in volunteering or getting involved, both organizations are always looking for help.

Thank you to everyone who came out that day, braving the heat to honor a wonderful man and to support Reni on the anniversary of Eddie’s passing. You didn’t just remember Eddie—you helped two causes that meant the world to him. Keep an eye on The Carolinas Full Throttle Magazine’s cruising calendar for future events, and of course, the next Eddie Hill Memorial Ride. Until then, remember this: “It’s not the destination, it’s the ride.” (Anonymous)

Belief

ecently a number of people at various functions shared that they are believers. This is immediately followed with, “but” and their reasoning to not attend church or follow biblical teachings. Because they believe there is a God, they are exempt from the teachings and expectations associated with believers or better said, followers.

Having a belief in God is never mentioned in the bible as a requirement to enter heaven. We are told to love God with all our hearts and our neighbor as ourselves. The full-page cartoon in last month’s edition was a powerful message. Like the biker in the cartoon, we will all one day seek to enter heaven. The bible is extremely clear about what is required to enter heaven.

Do you think Satan believes in God and his son Jesus? Will his belief provide him and his demons entry into heaven? Not for him, his demons or anyone else.

James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!

The next stumbling block to entering heaven is a false belief that we can work or earn our way into heaven. Many wrongly believe we can overcome our sins with good works or with our financial support to charity. Charitable acts are commendable but do not make us Christians. Christians support and participate in charitable causes because they are Christians, not to become a Christian. Being and doing good is not the answer.

Romans 3:10-12 “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”

Each of us created a sin debt that must be paid. Believing in God, being good people or doing good works are all commendable acts but do not erase our sin debt. Fortunately for us, Jesus paid the debt for everyone who accepts his gift of salvation. Everyone who does not accept Jesus as savior we will be turned away from heaven, like the biker in the cartoon.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

God established and made very clear through his word only through Jesus can we enter heaven. We can’t edit God’s plan or substitute with our plan. If salvation were possible by other means, I doubt God would have subjected his only son to die on the cross to save us.

Jesus told the truth on how, don’t fall victim to Satan’s lies. The path is clear and easy to understand. Our choice is simple; we either accept or reject God’s free gift of salvation in his son Jesus Christ.

Blessings, Floyd

What’s In It FOR ME? (/My Club?)

ver heard a patriot talk about the constitution? No matter how compelling a speech might be, there are always these looming questions running through our minds, like, how does that, affect me? Or What can my club get, from what you’re selling?

Well, lean in, closer and I’ll tell ya!

“WHATEVER YOU WANT!” Sounds too good to be true. That’s not what our forefathers thought. In fact, they worked long and hard figuring out what type of government we would be best suited to ensure America would avoid a monarchial rule. Would it be A. Democracy, B. Republic, C. Hereditary Monarchy? And yes, the Republic Has Won It Boys! It checks all the boxes. Representation, no mob-rule, the promise that the government will be elected by popular vote, maintained by majority control, and fair and free elections! It’s called the “guarantee cluse, Article 4, section 2 of the Constitution. It means that YOU get to tell your representative what you want done and vote him/her into office. Have there been some changes since 1776? Sure. But the original Constitution stands my friends, it’s what we call evergreen because it can be updated, and refined, but the original parts of the Constitution and the Amendments have never been deleted. It’s how we define our system of government and our culture. But more than that, it is our identity as Americans.

And yet, nearly 60% of Americans have not read the Constitution! This incredible document that allows you have a club/ organization! This is the document the protects you, to meet, to gather, to protest, on your missions toward your goals! This paper’s goal is organize how we are governed.

Case in point- Bikers

We all know that we don’t matter to the bigwigs. If we haven’t been called these names, “murdercycles”, “donorcycles”, “organ-donor”, then it’s just a matter of time. It’s not funny. It’s not a joke. We are 40x more likely to be in a crash, through no fault of our own. It’s simply because Americas are not raised with motorcycle awareness. Is that a real thing? In countries where there are more motorcycles than cars, the culture is raised with an awareness of motorcycles, they are more likely to look for motorcycles and see them. But in countries like America, where the highest state riding population is about 12% like in California, it is still ranked 2nd highest for motorcycle crashes! So, what’s the problem?

It’s not just one problem or one solution. Population, and the age of the population has a great deal to do with crashes. Young riders cause the most crashes. Plus, we have had an increase in the population, which means an increase in new drivers. Let’s move onto driver education. One might think that driver education is a standard curriculum and is required in each state, it is not. While states have been increasing driver education, that takes time and there are setbacks, like COVID. Many schools did not have the ability to teach virtually, and

some schools have never got back to in-person driver education. Plus, we know that states that require motorcycle education for riders have less motorcyclist fatalities. But does that mean that legislators will enact those law to save lives? No. Forcing people to do anything is not going to make you popular. Politicians need to be popular to be reelected! So there are crossing lines between what is safer, what is cost-effective and what is likely. But all of it, depends on you. The citizen, the constituent. Because without you, going to your representative with a complaint or suggestion, none of these laws would ever be sponsored or passed.

But let’s look closer to home.

Who is our motorcycle rights organization?

North Carolina Concerned Bikers Association

a/k/a CBA ABATE of NC

Do they meet with our NC Legislators about laws that will make Bikers safer?

Yes, they do! They aim to act as the voice for all motorcyclists. In addition to lobbying for pro-rider laws, they also help to stop any laws that are considered anti-rider.

What’s happening this legislative session?

2025-2026 Legislative Session has 2 bills.

House Bill 400, Bentley’s Law, would require any convicted driver that caused the death of a rider, to pay child support for their remaining children.

House Bill 516 Road Guard Certification Course would permit riders to become certified, allowing clubs to guard their own rides and no longer requiring law enforcement.

Do you have to join to find out what’s going on?

No, but they would love if it you would!

There is no obligation. You can join at any meeting or party! Bring a friend!

Do they have chapters?

Sure! And at-large members! Check out their website at www.cba-abatenc.org or their social media

@CBA/ABATE of NC & If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Would it be helpful if we reach out to our legislators and ask them to support these bills?

Blue Crew 3rd Annual Memorial Ride For “Repo”

he blue crew law enforcement motorcycle club (LEMC) is a motorcycle club that is open to all Law Enforcement, Firefighters, EMT’s, Military Veterans, friends, and family. On Saturday, August 9th, the Blue Crew LEMC of Shelby, NC held their 3rd Annual Memorial Ride for Jimmy “Repo” Prince starting at their clubhouse at 2115 South Post Road in Shelby, NC. “Repo” was a member of the club, and died of cancer in 2023 when he was just 40 years old. This Memorial Ride is to raise money for his 13 year-old daughter, Shelby. She will receive the money when she graduates high school.

I had been with the Blue Crew at other events at their clubhouse. It is only 7 miles from my home.

I left home at 9:15AM on Saturday heading south on Rt 18. I turned left onto Davis Road, and encountered a couple loose dogs. They were both running at full speed toward me and the road. It was lucky that I saw them because a dog in the road could be catastrophic. After accelerating to get away from the dogs, I continued riding a few miles on Davis Road, then turned left onto Post Road. The Blue Crew clubhouse was a little ways on the right. I parked “Miss Vickie” away from the other bikes because I wasn’t going on the ride, and didn’t want to block anyone in.

I walked inside with a stack of “Full Throttle” magazines, placed the magazines on the table, and gave a donation.

I picked up a score card that had all the stops for the ride where riders would draw a card. The 1st card was to be drawn at the Amvets post 42 in Shelby. The 2nd card would be drawn at the Vintage Dog in Boiling Springs, NC. The 3rd card would be drawn at the Whiskey Mill in Bessemer City, NC. The 4th card would be at the American Legion in Kings Mountain, NC. The 5th (last card) would be at the Grover Rural VFD in Grover, NC – where “Repo” was a member. After all the cards were drawn, the group would end back at the Blue Crew clubhouse for food, and awards.

I walked outside to see the bikers roll in. I met an interesting man who rode over 700 miles - all the way from Chicago for the event. Dave aka “Professor” is a member of the Illinois Chapter of the Blue Crew. He rode his 2024 Harley Trike down with a friend. They got to Shelby on Friday night – the night before the run. They were still worn out from the long ride when they arrived at the clubhouse.

After a while, Donnie Chapman, president of the chapter, called everybody inside to get the ride briefing and prayer. The inside of their clubhouse is very clean. Soon, they all lined up behind Donnie. At 11:00AM, then they were off to the Amvets in Shelby. The roar only lasted a few minutes. Then they were gone, and it was quiet again.

Kristopher “Kris” Atkins Memorial Ride & Benefit: A Tribute on Two Wheels

n saturday, July 19, 2025, more than 50 motorcycles rumbled through the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina in honor of Kristopher “Kris” David Atkins—a man whose heart was as big as his love for the outdoors, family, and community. Friends, family, and fellow riders gathered for a memorial ride and benefit to celebrate the life and legacy of a beloved husband, father, and friend.

The ride kicked off at Double D’s Burnout Saloon in Kernersville, where riders shared stories, tears, and laughter before saddling up for the 75-mile journey ahead—a path chosen to reflect Kris’s connection to his hometown and the people who filled his world with meaning.

From Kernersville, the pack rolled out together under sunny skies, making its way to The Pine Tree Tavern in Winston-Salem, a familiar stop where old friends and new faces joined in remembrance. At each bar, the crowd grew tighter—more than just a ride, it became a moving tribute fueled by memories and the roar of camaraderie.

The next stop brought the group to Our Place Tavern in Walnut Cove. This leg of the ride offered scenic views that Kris would’ve loved, with rolling farmland and open skies that reminded many of the peaceful farm he called home. Riders took time to relax, share a drink, and talk about the man who brought them all together.

The final stop before the ride’s end was Gene’s Early Times in Stokesdale, where stories of Kris’s wit, love for chickens, shark fishing tales, and memories from the ballfields were exchanged with emotion and laughter. The sense of loss was real, but so was the celebration of a life well-lived.

The ride ended back at Double D’s, where the tribute continued with a full evening of music, fellowship, and fundraising. Local band Motorvader brought energy and heart to the stage, playing to a packed crowd that danced, laughed, and celebrated Kris’s spirit. His presence was felt in every chord, every

cheer, and every toast raised in his name.

Following the music, a live auction was held featuring donated items from generous community members and local businesses. The auction was a tremendous success, raising money to support Kris’s family and memorial causes close to his heart.

A special thank you goes out to the following businesses for their generous contributions to the auction and ride: The Rebel Spirit, After Glow Aesthetics, Mis Match Boutique, 2 Broke Girls Cleaning Services, Michelle’s Gym, Freedoms Militia Gun Shop, Double D’s Burnout Saloon, Pine Tree Tavern, Our Place Tavern, and many others who came together in remembrance of Kris. Your kindness and support meant more than words can express.

The Kristopher Atkins Memorial Ride was more than just a memorial event—it was a reminder of how one life can impact so many. Through the sound of engines, the warmth of shared stories, and the embrace of a community, Kris’s legacy continues to ride on.

Rest easy, Kris. You’ll always be riding with us.

Prospective teams, riders, and sponsors are now invited to engage with the series as preparations accelerate for the 2026 debut season.

This afternoon, Jay Jackson, Motorcycle Riders Foundation Vice President and appointee to the U.S. Motorcyclist Advisory Council (MAC), was notified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that his appointment has been terminated. We are shocked and disappointed by this decision and are still gathering information. It appears the other appointees have received similar notifications.

The MAC was created by an act of Congress in November 2021. Yet despite a requirement in the law to establish the MAC within 90 days, it took until 2023 for the nomination process to begin. It wasn’t until the summer of 2024 that the members of the MAC were selected.

The inability of NHTSA to convene the 13-member board is a slap in the face to the nearly 10 million motorcyclists in this country. The mandate of the MAC was to advise the Secretary of Transportation, the Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration regarding transportation safety issues of concern to motorcyclists, including — motorcycle and motorcyclist safety, barrier and road design, construction and maintenance practices, as well as the architecture and implementation of intelligent transportation system technologies.

MRF President, Kirk “Hardtail” Willard, said of the decision, “This is a striking example of how the concerns of mo-

The MRF has already contacted members of Congress, including those on the Congressional Motorcycle Caucus, to alert them of this unacceptable action by bureaucrats in D.C. This fight is just beginning. Be alert for upcoming messages from the MRF on how you can voice your displeasure with actions that threaten the safety of bikers.

Sowing Seeds Poker Run

owing seeds poker run took place on July 19. Event registration started at 9am at Boone MotorCo in Franklinton NC. Check the Full Throttle Magazine calendar for other events at Boone MotorCo. Temperature forecast was 95 degrees and humid, typical for late July. Despite the heat, there was a parking lot full of bikes when I arrived. The ride was staggered departure, so some folks left early to try to beat the heat, while others were in no hurry, content to shoot the breeze with friends, new and old.

I headed out mid-pack with 4 other bikes. The ride was 90 miles with the first stop at The Preserve at Lynch Creek. This is an 80 acre working farm and event space located in Kittrell, NC. They have “The Lodge” which has activities and a bar open Sundays from 1-6. Next stop was Hardly Farm in Castalia. This farm has an event space and specializes in Alpaca agritourism. The Farmer’s Mercantile in Louisburg, the third stop, is a family-owned business selling NC products, handmade gifts, local beef and more. One of our group tried the alligator jerky and gave it a thumbs up.

Card stop 4 was Old School Detail in Louisburg. They do a great job of auto, camper, motorcycle detailing and more. Adjacent to OSD is Old School Bike Shop, the Eastern NC Shovel Fest will be held October 18, 2025. The last card stop was at Holly Creek Dairy in Zebulon. Their Jersey, Guernsey, and Holsteins have been providing high quality raw cow milk pet treat since February of 2019. Besides a card draw, this stop offered ice cream for anybody that was overheated.

The finale for the ride was at Bud’s Tavern in Youngsville, NC. Cold beverages were being served, and the BBQ plates were nearly ready when our group arrived. The band Crossroadz was rocking the outdoor stage. Most folks decided to retreat inside for some AC or sit on the porch with a fan blowing on them. Many thanks to the hosts, riders and volunteers that made this event happen. At the end of the day, Jennifer

Sutton won $100 for best hand and donated it back to Sowing Seeds.

Sowing Seeds is a nonprofit food ministry of McPhetridge Family Farms, located outside Franklinton, NC. Since 2023, Sowing Seeds has provided groceries, fresh produce, education, and encouragement to hundreds of families each week. They also help provide clothing, meals, and supplies to those experiencing homelessness. In 2023 they served 10,000 individuals, 2024 that increased to 35,000. This year they have already passed 20,000. Their repurposed bus brings food directly to communities with limited access throughout Franklin, Vance and Granville Counties. Donations and fundraisers contribute to their goal of moving from a small building to a 2,400 sq ft facility. This was their first motorcycle event, and everybody is looking forward to next year’s ride.

Django’s Ride

DJANGO ROSENBAUM

12/18/00 - 05/23/25

t was a perfect sunday, July 27, and it was Django’s Ride, a memorial ride for 24 year old Django Rosenbaum that tragically lost his life on his motorcycle the evening of May 23, 2025. Django, the only son of Missy and John Rosenbaum and the brother of two younger sisters Gabby and Lilli, was an amazing young man that was loved by so many people. He started his own business and was successfully on track making a big impact in this world. He had an entrepreneurial drive just like his mom and dad of whom both own their own businesses. John Rosenbaum owner of Dark Horse Motorcycles in Gaffney, SC has been in the pre-owned Harley-Davidson business for over a decade including his 1st store BidHarley Motorcycle Sales in Statesville, NC, that set the pace for pre-owned HD sales. It was a very hot day that started at Dark Horse in Gaffney, ksu at 10:00am. That larger than expected group traveled to The Wine Cellar in Lincolnton, NC where they were joined by an even bigger group. Now everybody was together and this huge group of big hearts, 100 plus bikes and well over 150 people including some in cars, was escorted by the Lincolnton Police to the next stop, Two Trees Bar and Grill in Denver, NC. As this massive parade of love and caring people entered the town of Denver we were greeted with yet another presidential escort from the Denver Police Dept. The escorts by these two awesome police departments made it very special, they are friends of the family and hats off to them. We left Two Trees Bar and Grill, at 2:30pm and rode to our final stop, the Waterside Bar in Catawba on Lake Norman.

Django loved Poppys, so on the way from Two Trees to Waterside we stopped at the accident site. John had purchased over 5 million poppy seeds and Jesse Spindler, John’s partner at the BidHarley store years ago that now works for John at DarkHorse, packaged the seeds into small ziplock baggies for

them to distribute at the roadside memorial. Everyone got off their bikes and threw poppy seeds everywhere along the side of the road, in the ditch, everywhere!! It was magical. Though out of the planting season something is bound to grow come spring time!!! It was an incredible day with a lot of incredible people. They had 50/50 drawings, memorial t-shirts, lots of awesome donations to raffle off, live music and all proceeds were donated to the Young Entrepreneur Fund and the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Thousands of dollars were raised and the event was 2-3 times bigger than anyone ever antici-

pated. It will be an annual ride for sure, one you don’t want to miss next year.

Django Rosenbaum will be missed by so many loving people....RIP

DAY RIP TO TWIN RIVERS CHOPPER CAMPOUT

ov. it’s been Raining foR the last 10 Days, anD the sky cleared for the weekend. It also happens to be Twin Rivers Chopper Campout weekend, and all your friends are riding up to the mountains to hang out in the river. It’s like the motorcycle gods are smiling down on you other than you have to work on Friday, so your trip will be cut short. That’s just life, eh? Anyway, any day on the motorcycle is a good day. So, I set off to catch up with all my good timin’ friends. This weird fall weather in August has its advantages. It was perfect riding weather and the two hours heading north faster than I wanted it to. The twisties up around Sparta on my way to Crumpler finished off the funk I was suffering with from not riding the last 10 days.

Twin Rivers Campground is down a half mile dirt road on the banks of the New River in Crumpler, NC. There were choppers ripping up and down the road in packs, going out for day rides or probably just making a beer run. Either way it was the kind of thing that makes you happy. Twin Rivers Chopper Campout is done just right, low cost, no schedule, no events. Just set up camp and do your thing. I was just popping in for the afternoon, so I rolled through the campground towards the primitive area where the chopper campout is held. In order to get to the primitive campground, you encounter what has been dubbed “Hell Road”. Hell Road is or was a skinny, rocky path that runs parallel with the river and has some extremely sketchy parts. At one point Hell Road combines a large rock path with a blind curve bordered by the mountain on one side and the river on the other. When the river is high, water covers this part of the road and there used to be a large stone that was positioned just right to wack your oil pan as you navigate the pass. I haven’t been to Twin Rivers in a couple years, so I was prepared for this obstacle but was surprised to make it passed without incident. The large rocks were there, but the path was wider, and it still takes full concentration to navigate, but it was 100% better. Hell Road was always the final boss before you get to the chopper paradise campground.

The campground was buzzing with choppers and people walking up and down the path. My friends had a sweet camping spot on the river side of the path, and I was ready for an ice-cold Dr. Pepper. I caught up on the happenings from the previous night’s breakdowns, hookups and blackouts before we went campsite hopping. We walked back down towards the entrance of the campground checking out the all the sweet

scoots that littered the campground. It was 1pm but there were folks still one leg out of the tent sleeping off a late night. After making our rounds it was time to get in the river. The ladies slipped into skimpy bathing suits and the dudes into their finest bathing suits and we road down to the “beach”. It was a wide part of the path that allowed for plenty of motorcycle parking and a shallow entrance into the river. It wasn’t long before twenty or, so choppers were parked in the river for photo ops while we waded around. It was a bit to chilly to get all the way in the river, but still groups of folks were coming by in tubes. So, we did what any body would do and chucked jello shots out to them to enhance their journey. All the while a constant parade of choppers were coming and going. A lot of the ones coming back in were bringing reinforcements in the form of 12 packs. I swear that little gas station down the road does one hell of a business.

When we’d had enough, we road back down to camp. They had dinner on their minds, and I was ready to hit the road. On the way out I ran into Zak Gibbons who puts on this event every year and shot the shit for a few minutes. Dude puts on one of the best events in the state. I thoroughly enjoyed carving my way back down the mountain and cruised the highway back home. Four hours of riding, four hours of hanging out, a perfect balance. This event reminds me of the events I read about in Easyrider magazine when I was growing up and I’m damn glad to see that still exist and are in our back yard. I’m already ready for next year’s Twin Rivers Chopper Campout.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT

f you are looking to decrease the heat your motorcycle exhaust system is putting off, stop any corrosion from setting in, increase your motorcycles performance, or all of the above, you should get hooked up with Jet-Hot High Performance Coatings. Since 1982 Jet-Hot High Performance Coatings has been pioneering the ceramic coating industry. In fact, Jet-Hot invented the very idea of aftermarket ceramic coating long before it was a trend. Jet-Hot Coatings are high-performance ceramic coatings for exhaust headers, side pipes, manifolds, intakes, mufflers, turbo housings, and other parts that coat the external and internal surfaces of your exhaust system improving their performance and longevity, and possibly avoiding costly repairs later.

Jet-Hot accepts and fulfills orders from all over the country, but they are conveniently located in Greensboro, NC and recently gave The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine a tour of their facility and honestly, it blew my mind. They have a great team that applies a product that they stand behind with a lifetime warranty. “What happens inside our facility isn’t like any other coating shop- because Jet-Hot isn’t like any other coating. This process is proprietary. Precise. Built to do one thing: deliver the best-performing, best-looking ceramic finish in the world. That’s why you don’t pick it up off a shelf or spray it on in a parking lot. You send your parts to us. Because what we do here can’t be replicated anywhere else.”

From the moment your parts arrive, they’re handled with the care, intention, and expertise they deserve. You’ll work with real people who guide every step, make sure every detail is right, and treat your build like it’s their own. You can have new or used items receive the Jet-Hot treatment. So if you are hooked on an older set of exhaust pipes, but want them to look like new, and stay looking good, Jet-Hot will take on your project. The Jet-Hot Performance Coating will also make your new exhaust system run cooler and offer more performance. More often than not, they receive exhaust parts that are already rusted. Over the past 40 years they developed a superior process for prepping and coating parts. If your parts contain pits or holes, or if you’re concerned about their condition prior to coating, call them and one of their coatings experts will advise you on how best to proceed.

Why You Should Get Jet-Hot High Performance Ceramic Coatings Applied To Your Motorcycle Exhuast System.

Extend the Life of Your Motorcycle Exhaust System. It takes a lot of time to remove and repair expensive exhaust parts, headers, and turbo kits, so the longer you can make them last, the better!

Protection from Corrosion. Ceramic coatings keep away oil, gas, salt, and other metal degrading materials that your parts come into contact with every day.

Higher Performance. Even if you bought titanium or good stainless steel parts, a ceramic coating for headers, exhaust pipes, and turbo parts (just to name a few) actually improves their performance. These types of coatings actually cause your exhaust gases to flow faster and decrease thermal tumbling. Ceramic coatings also eliminate pressure problems and give you even more horsepower!

Protection from Thermal Cycling. For high-performance systems, a coating that can withstand more than 1600°F protects your turbo and exhaust parts from thermal cycling that can break down metal over time. In other words, the ceramic coating keeps heat inside the system, so that the metal doesn’t cycle from red-hot heating back to cool continuously.

They Look Great! Ceramic coatings can make parts look like chrome without the discoloration and flaking problems of chrome. Don’t like the look of chrome? Ceramic coatings are available in a wide array of color options from ghost white to pure black—and everything in between. Blackout your motorcycle, make your header stand out, or create a custom look that lasts forever.

Types Of Jet-Hot Ceramic Coatings

Classic Polish

Jet-Hot pioneered the industry’s Classic Polish coating back in 1982. Today, it’s still considered the best that the industry has to offer. Classic Polish lowers a part’s surrounding temperatures by up to 65% and withstands temperatures up to 1250°F. For automotive applications, coating almost any external or internal surface can improve the performance of the entire exhaust system—all while protecting the coated part(s) from galvanic corrosion and thermal oxidation. Use it to coat exhaust systems and headers, catalytic converters, x-pipes, side pipes, heat shields, tubing, and tips. Just to name a few!

Thermal Coating

If your engine is Turbo, Supercharged, or you are running nitrous, we recommend running our 2K series. This is a flameapplied coating and while withstanding your exhaust gas temps will also act as a thermal barrier, keeping the heat in your exhaust while also preventing corrosion. The 2K series is the most durable coating we offer. The 2K can lower surrounding temperatures, but also prevent galvanic thermal oxidation, improving the performance of the entire exhaust system. This unparalleled coating is rated for severe conditions up to 2000°F. For example: Use it to coat turbo housings, headers, manifolds, catalytic converters, and any other exhaust component that is under extreme heat conditions.

Jet-Hot Color Topcoats

Color Topcoats personalize your vehicle to make it the ride of your dreams! We offer the largest selection of colors in the industry. We have more than 40 color options to choose from. Color topcoats are applied over a ceramic-metallic base-coat to protect against corrosion.

Jet-Hot High Performance Coatings is going to make your motorcycle look better, run better and last longer with their

proprietary ceramic coatings. Whether the parts you want to get coated are new or used they will take on the project. In a hurry? Their goal is to get your parts back to you as fast as possible with an estimated 10 business day turnaround. But if you need them quicker than that they offer a rush order with a five business day turn around time. Don’t get fooled, not all ceramic coatings are the same. Jet-Hot High Performance Coatings is an industry leading coating and almost 30% of the parts they receive are requests to re-coat after other coatings have failed. So you can send your parts to Jet-Hot the first time, and it’ll be the last. Plus it comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Remember, You don’t send your parts to Jet-Hot because it’s convenient. You send them there because they matter. Get a quote today at Jet-Hot.com or call 800-432-3379 Their HQ is Located at: 3112 Pleasant Garden Road Greensboro, NC

Too Broke For Sturgis & 1970’s Day

reckon lots of us were too broke for sturgis or we’ve been there and done that a few times so due for a “staycation.” We knew there would be some riding buddies at Tilley H-D, Statesville, NC, when we rolled in since the bike parking area was rows deep and the road lined with cages way down to the RV store. Round here, folks love a party Saturday at Tilley’s. Shucks, we were back the next week for a 1970’s day.

Before I could socialize and get lunch, bikes were revving up for the first stunt show of the day. The guys of Bad Day Stunts put on a good show three times that afternoon. Stay for the last show since they really crank it up and don’t worry about tires. Shucks, Levi popped a tire in the second show and had a new one mounted and ready in about 30 minutes.

These boys did stunts on both Metric Bikes and Harleys. I mean Big Harleys. Big Twins, not Sportsters. They were throwing around those Harleys like dirt bikes. Vicious burnouts and Twelve O’Clock Wheelies. Dropped and flopped a couple times putting on a show for the folks at Tilley’s. Not a Bad Life. Just a Bad Day. They gave us a good day of stunts.

Ember Craft Fusion Badass BBQ was serving up fat and tasty BBQ Wraps with just a hint of Asian flavor in there. Y’all who eat what comes off my grill are used to a little Korean seasoning. Boondogglers Brewing Company brought a couple nice beers to wash down BBQ. Home Run Stores had dessert, and a few other folks were selling sunglasses and such. Saturday party at Tilley’s.

Before the last stunt show Dani Kerr, one of my favorite local musicians, played some old tunes we can sing along to.

Folks were back at Tilley’s the next Saturday for a new party. Kind of short notice, kind of let’s have another party. They set the stage for making the theme a regular and doing again. Y’all know a 1970’s Freedom Revival is gonna get me there. I have 1970’s bikes. I don’t hate AMF. You can build great machines from those bikes the bowling ball company sold.

That Saturday was mostly just hang with biker buddies and see who dressed for the day. Sam, where did you find those corduroy bell bottoms? If I had any of my clothes from the

1970’s, I’m sure they have shrunk a bunch. Especially in the belly.

Bonnie and Daryl from Concord won the Best Dressed Contest and a gift card from Tilley H-D.

J.B. and The 70’s Band was playing songs you ain’t heard lately. Unless Bub has the oldies station on the radio. B’s Grill Burgers were the best I’ve had since the Wizard Restaurant was a hopping spot. That Mushroom Swiss Burger gave

me flashbacks of hanging out at Steak & Shake in Lakeland, Florida, in 1974. We thought the movie American Graffiti was a documentary. Training film for how we should do cruise nights. The 1970’s were fun.

How about next year we make this party a Shovelhead and Ironhead show. Ride those 1970’s bikes y’all are dragging out of the back of garages. Dress like an extra in a Peter Fonda movie. See ya there!

BRAD BARRETT’S 1963 PANHEAD CHOPPER

he Panhead is by far the best looking engine harley-Davidson ever made. Just look at Brad Barrett’s 1963 Panhead Chopper…point made. Brad’s Panhead Chopper is as clean and nice as it gets, but a beauty like this doesn’t happen overnight. “It took me 3 years to buy this motorcycle. I found this at a gentleman’s garage sitting in the back so I called him he did some trading. I went

and talked to him and he wanted some crazy amount of money for it, so we went back and forth for three years and I finally got the bike.” The ’63 Panhead was already sitting in this frame, but there was plenty of work to be done. Brad changed the tanks and the front end, had the chrome replated and the engine rebuilt. “As we tore the bike apart, we went and pulled the top end off this motor, it had S&S rods in it, it’s a 30

over FL motor. We re-ringed it and put it all back together. A friend of mine, David Cox, did all the work on it and he did a great job”.

One of the defining features of this chop is the killer flame job that was laid down by Terry Faulkner of Terry Faulkner Designs in Albemarle, NC. “Terry is a good friend of mine and has painted several bikes for me, I love his style of flames. I’ve always wanted the HotRod flames going from the white to the yellow to the red with the blue outline. It’s just old school and that’s the way I wanted to go with the paint job on this bike”.

It’s always good to have friends in the industry and Brad dropped a few names that he called on during this build including Ron Paugh of Paughco, Led Sled’s Pat Patterson and Jeff Cochran of Speedking. He ended up with that killer Paughco front end that is running on Led Sled invader wheels. Old school is the way of this bike so naturally it’s a suicide shift, foot clutch set up. The Speedking dual caliper rear brake bracket is set up with one caliper running off the hand controls and one on the foot brake keeping the bike manageable and the front end clean.

The power side of the bike features an open primary running a 3 inch belt. “I’ve always liked the way that looked, just a big blower type belt on the side of it, to me it just looks real mechanical.” The suicide shift knob features a black and white

photo of a beautiful dame and really brings together that old school look. The mix of black powder coated parts, and the beautifully polished chrome makes each part stand out. It’s just simply a well-built bike.

“Special thanks goes out to Jeff Cochran of Speedking for the help and the direction he gave me. Same goes for Pat at Ledsled he helped me out a lot. Special thanks to David Cox. He did all the labor on the bike.”

You may enjoy looking over this bike, but it won’t be for sale. “This bike will end up being my son’s motorcycle” as it should, a piece like this should stay in the family!

The Carolinas’ Full Throttle Magazine staff screens hundreds of jokes each month. We make no claim to being politically correct. Most PC jokes just aren’t funny. If you are offended by any of the jokes on this page, take heart in the fact that we go to great lengths to offend everyone equally. This is not a hate crime! At our house we call it “pickin” and it is symbolic of your acceptance in the group. We live in the United States Of The Offended, so get over it!!

A blonde goes into a shop and asks if she can buy the TV that is in the window. The shopkeeper tells her “Sorry! We don’t serve blondes.” So, she goes home and dyes her hair brown. She returns to the shop the next day and asks to buy the TV in the window. Again, she is greeted with the same reply. Sorry we don’t serve blondes. Thinking maybe her roots had given her away or she had missed a spot with the dye, she returns to the shop the next day wearing a wig, a pair of sunglasses and a large hat. She asks the shop keeper if she can buy the TV in the window and again, he says “No sorry we don’t serve blondes.” Now the blonde is beginning to get naked. “How did you know I was blonde after all I did to my hair?” She shrieked manically. “Easy...” replied the shopkeeper. It’s not a TV... It’s a microwave.”

One bright morning, In the middle of the night, 2 dead boys came out to fight, They stood back to back, And faced each other, Took out their swords, And shot each other.

A deaf policeman soon heard the noise, And came out to kill those 2 dead boys. If you don’t believe my story, it’s true! Ask the blind man, he saw it too!

A young Jewish man excitedly tells his mother he’s fallen in love and going to get married. He says, “Just for fun, Ma, I’m going to bring over 3 women and you try and guess which one I’m going to marry.” The mother agrees. The next day, he brings 3 beautiful women into the house and sits them down on the couch and they chat for a while. He then says, “Okay, Ma. Guess which one I’m going

to marry.” She immediately replies, “The redhead in the middle.” “That’s amazing, Ma. You’re right. How did you know?” “I don’t like her.”

On their wedding night, a husband hands over to his trousers, and says try these, his wife responds they’re too big I will never fill them. To which the husband laughs, exactly I wear the trousers around here and don’t you forget it. Later the wife hands the husband her knickers, and says try these, and the husband just looks at and replies I’ll never get into those. To which the wife says: exactly, with that attitude you never will.

Seems God was just about done creating the universe, but he had two extra things left in his bag of creations, so he decided to split them between Adam and Eve. He told the couple that one of the things he had to give away was the ability to stand up while urinating. “It’s a very handy thing”, God told the couple, “I was wondering if either one of you wanted that very ability.” Adam jumped up and blurted, “Oh, give that to me! I’d love to be able to do that! It seems a sort of thing a man should do. Oh please, oh please, oh please, let me have that ability, It’d be so great! When I’m working in the garden or naming the animals, I could just stand there and let it fly. It’d be so cool, I could write my name in the sand. Oh, please God, let it be me who you give that gift to, let me stand and pee, oh please...” On and on he went like an excited little boy who had to pee. Eve just smiled and told God that if Adam really wanted that so badly, that he should have it. It seemed to be the sort of thing that would make him happy, and she really wouldn’t mind if Adam were the one given this ability. And so, Adam was given the ability to urinate while in a vertical position. He was happy and did celebrate by wetting down the bark on the tree nearest him, laughing with delight all the while. “Fine,” God said looking back into his bag of leftovers, What’s left here?

Oh yes, brains....”

A fellow went to the doctor who told him that he had a bad illness and only a year to live. So, he decided to talk to his pastor. After the man explained his situation, he asked his Pastor if there was anything he could do. “What you should do is go out and buy a late ‘70s or early ‘80s model Dodge pickup,” said the Pastor. “Then go get married to the ugliest woman you can find and buy yourselves an old trailer house in the panhandle of Oklahoma.” The fellow asked, “Will this help me live longer?” “No,” said the pastor, “but it will make what time you do have seem like forever.”

A group of young businessmen were chatting at the bar, and one decides to share his recent embarrassment with the others. He tells them that he was booking a plane ticket to Pittsburgh, but he was so preoccupied with the beautiful breasts of the girl at the counter, that instead of saying “I’d like a ticket to Pittsburgh,” he said, “I’d like a picket to Titsburg!” An older guy nearby hears the story and says, “You know I had a similar experience with my wife this morning. We were sitting at the breakfast table, and I meant to say, ‘Darling, could you please pass the butter’... but what came out was, ‘You bitch, you’re ruining my frigging life’!”

Two confirmed bachelors were sitting and talking. Their conversation drifted from politics to cooking. “I got a cookbook once,” said the first, “but I could never do anything with it.” “Too much fancy cooking in it, eh?” asked the second. “You said it. Every one of the recipes began the same way - ‘Take a clean dish and...’”
