pril was sure full of events and if that is any indication of what we can expect the rest of the year, you are going to have lots of choices for rides, rallies, and activities this year. I challenge you to attend as many as you can. I also challenge you to go somewhere “different” this year. By that I mean somewhere that you have not been before. We have a tendency to go to the same events year after year and while that’s not bad in itself, I have seen it get a little too repetitive to the point that it is “comfortably numb”. And motorcycling is not supposed to be that! Excitement and adventure should be key words for each time we venture out on our bikes. Sometimes we expect someone else to add those elements to our rides and that should not be the case, either. Step out on your own if there are no scheduled events to attend. There is no end to the pleasure of an unscheduled road trip. Even getting “lost” can be fun if you let it be. Remember, If you aren’t out of gas, you are not lost. You just haven’t been there before. So, gas up, get on, and GO! Anywhere. Just GO! May is Motorcycle Awareness Month, but that doesn’t mean every driver sees you. Watch out for distracted drivers and always ride safe. Save the celebration for the end of the ride and never let a brother or sister ride if they have had too much to drink. They may hate you then, but they will thank you tomorrow. And while we are talking about thanking our friends, remember those who have served to preserve our liberty. Monday, May 28 is Memorial Day. Formerly known as Decoration Day, this national holiday commemorates all men and women who have died in military service for the United States. Many people attend parades or visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day. Sounds like a road trip with a purpose to me.
