About The Cancer foundation (TCF): The Cancer Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help alleviate the financial burden of cancer for eligible patients by providing emergency financial assistance for basic life needs. We currently serve cancer patients in 25 counties across northeast Georgia, and use fundraising events like the Race to Beat Cancer to help us give back to those who are facing financial hardships during their battle with cancer. Since 2009, we have provided over $2.5 million to over 4,000 cancer patients with the help of fundraising events such as this one!


Questions Racers may ask: Where do I get my t-shirt? -- Racers should have received shirts at packet pick up! What type of start is the race? -This race will start in waves with 10K runners first and 5K runners second. Where do I get my chip? -Designated area near by the start of the race. Where is the start line? -- Next to Athens Pulmonary.

The Basics The event is being held on Saturday, August 28th, 2021, and the race will begin at 7:30AM. Participants will either be running a 5k (3.1 miles) or a 10k (6.2 miles). The event will be held at Athens Specialty Medical Park (3320 Old Jefferson Rd. Athens, GA 30607). Volunteers will be placed around the park in various positions to ensure a safe and low-stress environment for the racers.

What should you do as a volunteer to prep for the race?

Come to our volunteer meeting on August 21st!! During this meeting you will: Get your t-shirt! Meet the chair of your committee. Learn the details of your volunteer station. Volunteer shirts are red. Ask questions! Wear comfortable shoes. Meet your fellow volunteers you Bring a flashlight to the race. It is very will be working with on Race Day! dark in the morning.
