Welcome to SEASON 72

As the curtain rises on our 2025–2026 season, we are filled with immense pride and gratitude for a remarkable year of growth, celebration, and reconnection.

Last season marked our return to our newly renovated home on 5th Avenue South—and what a homecoming it was. From several sold-out productions to an explosion in class enrollment and education offerings, our theatre was once again filled with laughter, learning, and the unmistakable energy of a community coming together. More than just a physical transformation, our space became a launching pad for new ideas, renewed relationships, and a reimagined future.

Through powerful partnerships with hospitals, schools, law enforcement, and local organizations, we expanded our reach beyond the stage—bringing the healing and connective power of theatre to places where it’s needed most.

At The Naples Players, every seat, every story, and every applause is part of something bigger—a shared commitment to building community through exceptional access to the power of theatre. Welcome to Season 72!

OUR MISSION

At The Naples Players, we build community through exceptional access to the power of theatre.

NOVEMBER 18-DECEMBER 21

Naples comes alive with holiday magic at The Naples Players’

Every November, as the air fills with anticipation and the lights of Fifth Avenue begin to twinkle, The Naples Players’ annual Festival of Trees transforms the Jay R. Paul Community Atrium into a winter wonderland that celebrates creativity, community, and the true spirit of the holidays.

What began as a small gathering of festive décor and holiday cheer has blossomed into one of Naples’ most beloved seasonal traditions. Now in its sixth year, the Festival continues to embody TNP’s mission of building community through exceptional access to the power of theatre—offering a free, family-friendly celebration that welcomes guests from

across Collier County to share in the joy of giving and imagination.

A Tradition Rooted in Creativity and Care

Each year, local artists, designers, and volunteers come together to craft breathtaking trees that go far beyond decoration. Every branch tells a story, every ornament reflects care, and each display represents a labor of love from a community of creators who pour their time, resources, and passion into making the season bright.

Though this year’s display will feature fewer trees to accommodate growing crowds and the newly redesigned lobby, the artistry has only grown more spectac-

ular. Expect intricate themes, immersive lighting, and jaw-dropping detail that elevate each display into a true work of art.

The Designers Who Make the Magic

Leading this year’s creative charge is Lisa Bill, returning for her third year as Design Chair. Known for her impeccable taste and enthusiasm for all things Christmas, Lisa’s vision continues to set the tone for the entire event. “Lisa is all about Christmas and supporting TNP’s mission,” says Pamela Larkin Caruso, Director of Volunteer Advancement. “Her centerpiece tree in 2024 was a showstopper—and she continues to be an incredible asset to The Naples Players and this event.”

From first-time designers to returning favorites, each participant brings their unique flair to the festival, ensuring that every corner of the atrium radiates joy, generosity, and artistic excellence.

More Than Trees

Beyond the shimmering displays, visitors will find festive wreaths, mini trees, and new surprises adorning the Kizzie Theater and the Price Grand Staircase, turning every inch of TNP into a holiday destination. The Festival runs November 18 through December 21, perfectly

complementing the run of Little Women: The Musical, this year’s holiday mainstage production.

As visitors stroll through the exhibits, enjoy performances, and explore the theatre’s newly renovated spaces, the message is clear: this is more than a display—it’s a shared experience.

The Heart of the Holidays

“It warms my heart to hear guests say this event kicks off the holidays for them,” says Caruso. “That’s the true gift The Naples Players, our sponsors, and designers give to Naples.”

And this year, that spirit of giving extends even further.

Thanks to the generosity of Bob Brady and Kathleen Callahan, TNP is matching all donations through December 31—up to $50,000. Every dollar given will go twice as far to support the theatre’s mission, helping keep programs and classes affordable and accessible for everyone in our community, and ensuring TNP ends the year strong.

Each light, each bow, each moment of awe is a reminder that community is built when creativity meets generosity. At The Naples Players, that’s the magic of the holidays—and the enduring power of theatre.

“It’s more than just beautiful trees—it’s a joyful tradition that brings people together and lifts spirits.”
Pamela Larkin Caruso

We are honored to be a part of the renovation team, thank you to The Naples Players for your partnership.

Sisters are DIFFERENT from the SAME Garden

One way to think about the March sisters in Little Women is to see each as representing a distinct aspect of young womanhood. That can be seen as a reason the story has resonated across generations. Each sister has a unique personality, ambition, and struggle that reflects the many paths young women might take — or feel pulled between.

High-spirited Jo is self-confident and tomboyish. She wants independence, intellectual freedom, and a life away from traditional gender roles. Jo challenges 19th-century norms by dreaming of a career as a writer and by resisting conventional expectations of marriage. She shows us the modern ideal of self-actualization through establishing her own identity outside of domestic life.

Traditional Meg is responsible, gentle, modest, and nurturing. She values domestic life and love, while remaining traditionally feminine. Choosing marriage and motherhood as a fulfillment of her own dreams, she shows us that strength and dignity can exist within traditional roles, especially when freely chosen.

Beth is the family’s moral center: selfless, shy, and compassionate. She is also the quiet emotional glue of the Marches. A young lady of goodness and self-sacrifice, Beth displays idealized femininity, a focus on inner life, music, and spiritual strength.

Over the course of the musical, matures from a vain child into a sophisticated woman. As she grows more thoughtful and self-aware, her creative aspirations are challenged by personal ambition and societal expectations.

As the sisters grow up, each must come to terms with her own identity, ambition, love, and societal roles. Together, these sisters must come to terms with their own societal they paint for us a full picture of womanhood — its tensions, choices, and growth.

As the March sisters grow up, each discovers their own identity and role in society. Together, their individual struggles form a portrait of womanhood - and the growth and tensions which arise from one’s choices.

FROM PAGE to STAGE

The trials and tribulations of the March family – and the coming-of-age of the four sisters – seem as relevant and real to modern audiences as they were when Louisa May Alcott wrote Little Women in 1868.

The beloved novel has served as a teacher, a mentor, and a sanctuary for thousands as it has taught and delighted generations for almost 160 years!

Stage adaptations of Little Women have a rich and varied production history. The novel has inspired numerous theatrical versions over the years, with both plays and musicals being produced around the globe.

The first known dramatic adaptation of Little Women appeared around 1910, not long after the novel had long been a classic. Early productions were often amateur or regional and primarily aimed at young audiences or schools because of the story’s wholesome and moral messages.

One of the most influential early versions was written by Marian De Forest in 1912. It was widely performed and helped to establish the story as a staple for American theatre. De Forest’s script focused heavily on the domestic and emotional arcs of the characters, sticking close to the tone of Alcott’s novel.

Little Women is a perennial favorite in schools and colleges due to its strong roles for women, historical context, and timeless coming-of-age themes. It often appears in literature-based theatre programs and drama curricula.

The Broadway musical version of Little Women debuted in 2005 at the Virginia Theatre on January 23 starring Sutton Foster as Jo March.

Running for only 137 performances, it garnered a strong fanbase, and Foster’s performance earned her a Tony nomination. The musical quickly become popular in community productions, and countless regional, educational, and amateur productions have delighted audiences, particularly around the holidays. In England, various adaptations have been staged by repertory companies.
