Hello Everyone! I hope everyone had a great month in April!

I have good news; my youngest daughter Ashley had a baby! Her name is MaryJane, she is 5lbs 5oz 18 ½ in long. She is beautiful and perfect! Mom and baby are home and doing very well! My mom went in for hip replacement surgery this month. That was stressful. She is doing good! Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for her.

I hope everyone has a great month of May! We will be doing a few fun activities this month. Please come up and have some fun!

Jill here, we are having some fun stuff going on this month! Of course, Bingo is every Tuesday at 3PM. We will be having Coffee and Donuts on May 2nd at 10AM, May 8th is National Coke Cola Day. Come up to the clubhouse and get a cold Coke. May 11th we will have Mother’s Day Breakfast at the clubhouse, at 9AM. May 20th a special day, will be come up an get some birthday cake we will be celebrating Ginny birthday! That will be at 3PM. If you have an activity that you think the residents might like, please let me or Ginny know. We will try to make that happen.

Sandhill Valley’s Cutest Pet Contest

Please submit a pic, name, lot # and a couple sentence bio for a chance to win a $25 PetSmart giftcard. Pictures will be voted on by the residents every month. Pictures of all the nominations will be in the newsletter, you vote, and the winner will be announced the following month. Send in pictures that are cute, in a costume or anything special. Good luck everyone!

JUST GRIN & BEAR, MOANING ISN’T ALLOWED

• I’ve just finished reading a book about the world’s greatest basement... It was a best cellar.

• It’s my first week working at the bicycle factory and they already made me a spokesperson.

• My laptop caught pneumonia, apparently because I left Windows open.

• I thought swimming with dolphins was expensive until I went swimming with sharks… It cost me an arm and a leg.

Recipe of the Month

FREEDOM BARK

This stunning red, white, and blue bark tastes like freedom.

Ingredients

• 12 ounces of white chocolate chips or white candy melts

• Red and blue food coloring (gel or liquid)

• Assorted toppings such as red, white, and blue sprinkles, chopped nuts, dried fruits, etc. (optional)

Instructions

1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

MONTHLY CHUCKLE

2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips or candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth.

3. Once the chocolate is melted, divide it evenly into three smaller bowls.

4. Add red food coloring to one bowl and blue food coloring to another, leaving one bowl of chocolate white.

5. Stir each bowl of chocolate until the color is fully incorporated and smooth.

6. Pour the red chocolate onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it out into an even layer using a spatula.

7. Next, pour the white chocolate on top of the red layer and spread it out evenly.

8. Finally, pour the blue chocolate on top of the white layer and spread it out evenly.

9. If desired, sprinkle your chosen toppings over the melted chocolate, pressing them down slightly to adhere.

10. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or until the chocolate is set and firm.

11. Once set, remove the bark from the refrigerator and break it into pieces using your hands or a knife.

12. Serve and enjoy your patriotic Freedom Bark!

Notes

Feel free to get creative with the toppings and decorations to make it extra festive!
