Department of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs This department seeks to represent and preserve the integrity of organized dentistry in the Texas legislative and regulatory arenas. In addition to serving as staff lobbyists, policy experts, and liaisons for the Council on Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, the council on Dental Education, Trade and Ancillaries, and the Committee on Access, Medicaid and CHIP, the department is responsible for managing legislation and regulations that affect dentistry. The department staff implements legislative action as established by the TDA and oversees activities of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Health and Human Services Commission, and other governmental agencies. The department also manages DENPAC, the Texas Dental Association Political Action Committee. DENPAC supports state office holders and candidates who advocate for the dental profession and for the dental health of the citizens of Texas. DENPAC is funded by voluntary contributions made primarily from TDA members and their families. TDA Financial Services, Inc. / TDA Perks Program TDA Financial Services, Inc. (FSI), a wholly-owned affiliate of Texas Dental Association, manages TDA Perks Program (Perks). FSI’s board of 10 TDA members evaluates products and services, and endorses those meeting strict criteria. By negotiating exclusive discounts and other benefits for TDA members, and working with its endorsed partners to ensure TDA members are provided excellent customer service, FSI works to provide value to the Membership. More than 20 vendors offer TDA-member discounts and enhanced buying opportunities. Royalty income is generated through TDA-member participation in Perks programs, which is passed to TDA as non-dues revenue. By providing value to members, and non-dues revenue to the Association, FSI is a win-win strategy for TDA.

Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation (TDASF) The TDASF serves as the 501 (c)(3) charitable arm of the TDA, and its mission is to educate the public and profession about oral health and improve access to dental care for citizens of Texas. This mission is accomplished through the following programs and education initiatives. Texas Donated Dental Services (TXDDS) provides comprehensive dental care to the aging (62 or older) and disabled, while Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) events deliver charitable dental care through a multi-annual, travelling dental clinic all across Texas. Fluoride Fest and the Cavity Free Corral provide oral health education to children and their families. TDASF also provide six scholarships to deserving first-year dental students each year, and sponsors the Beverly Bane Lectureship each May at the TEXAS Meeting in San Antonio. These programs have collectively provided over 30,000 Texans with over $22 million in charitable dentistry since 2001, alleviating the strain on local emergency rooms that see thousands of dental cases yearly, educating Texans about the importance of oral health, and relieving the pain and suffering of those with limited financial and geographic access to dental care, all while improving the public image of dentistry.
TDA Holdings, Inc. TDA Holdings, Inc., is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Texas Dental Association. It owns all of the stock of the entities created by TDA to provide benefits to its members. The entities are TDA Financial Services, Inc., and Paid Dental Benefits, Inc. TDA Holdings, Inc. Board of Directors consult with the for-profit subsidiaries to enhance the benefits provided to members.
