Bournville
by Jonathan Coe Paperback £9.99
Jonathan' Coe's latest novel sees him return, once again, to a Birmingham setting, this time the heart of Cadbury's chocolate production and the model village that was created for their workers. It is Bournville itself which is at the pulse of this novel, while we follow the life of Mary Lamb over a period spanning some 70 years, with particular focus on certain events over the decades.
Opening with VE Day where Mary's parents Doll and Sam are the principal adult characters; by the second section Mary is in London and experiences the Coronation in 1953. By this time she is seeing two men, one at home, the other in the capital. Her choice leads the novel forward to 1966 and the World Cup before advancing to the investiture of Charles as the Prince of Wales; introducing a Welsh nationalism aspect into the story. Then the wedding of Charles and Diana, 1983, becomes the background for the next insight of Mary's growing family; before the national grief of Diana's state funeral in 1997 leads the story right up to date with the pandemic and the 75th Anniversary of VE Day in May 2020.
Over these seven decades we witness Mary's life and her marriage, the birth of her children; then in adulthood we are introduced to their relationships and family squabbles against a backdrop of entry into the Common Market; aptly the "chocolate wars" this led to. This provides Coe the opportunity of giving us a few vignettes of Brussels bureaucratic manipulations; with a family member who becomes an MEP.
From the outset we are introduced to her granddaughter Laura, a musician, who is in Vienna at the outbreak of the pandemic. Though
this is not a novel about covid; the pandemic is there for the opening section and towards the end. The book provides the foundation to look back on the life of Laura's grandparents, their offspring and the friends and acquaintances against the recurring setting of Bournville, Birmingham. Manufacturing is not limited to just chocolate - with Longbridge sitting alongside; the launch of the Austin Metro providing historical reference into the story, along with a mixture of other events, national and international. I always enjoy Jonathan Coe's books. I am sure I have written before that they make me smile, quietly laugh but never out aloud jollity. For me he is too subtle an author for that, but his cynical eye casting over England and the United Kingdom always provides satisfaction. This is a clever novel with a light political theme to it; readers of "Middle England" will not be disappointed, nor those of his other earlier books, where some of those characters filter in and out of these pages. It is worth reading the author's notes after finishing the book as a gentle reminder of who some of these were and where from. For anyone wanting to read his back list, these are in stock at Alison's Bookshop.

County Historical Award for Chairman Sam
Sam Eedle, Chairman of Tewkesbury Historical Society, has just been awarded the prestigious County Jerrard Prize for essay writing.
Sam's article was judged to be the best historical essay, and was published in Tewkesbury Historical Society's Bulletin 31 (2021).
He researched the experience of the widow of a Tewkesbury soldier killed in World War I.
“We have written biographies of all those killed in the war, but Sam is now focussing on those who lost their hus-
bands and fathers,” said THS president John Dixon.
“We are delighted with the achievement of our Chairman.”

Tewkesbury Rotary
by John Halstead, Secretary
Tewkesbury Direct works! And here’s the proof: A few months ago we published an article written by Rotary’s vice President, John Rutter, warning that Tewkesbury Rotary, with an ageing membership, was in danger of folding. The word got out, and, led by Robyn Hancock, several new younger members, male and female, have joined. The Club is now healthy again, after a quiet spell during Covid. Inaction, one word, is being replaced by in action, two words.
However, the local Rotary Club still needs visibility, support, and new members, so held a “Meet n Greet” at ye olde Black Bear in early September, organised by Robyn.
The Black Bear is a very special venue, and Luke Haynes made us very welcome.
It was a friendly, informal, low cost evening (the new style for Rotary), with the minimum of speeches, and a chance to chat about Rotary”s charitable and community work. Very pleasingly, there were representatives from the Town Council, Tewkesbury in Bloom, the Christmas lights and the Boys Brigade.
There was a lot of interest in our plans for the Town’s Bonfire and Fireworks, planned for Saturday 4th November. We have most of the pieces in place already, but await the necessary licence from the Borough Council. So watch this
space (and Facebook) for confirmation!
If you are community minded and might be interested in Rotary, please come along to our
next meeting (at the Bell on Monday 9th October, 6.30pm for an hour). Or contact, Secretary, John Halstead, halsts@hotmail.com.

Museum Autumn Talks To Start Again
Tewkesbury Museum talks start again in October. First up, on 3 October, is Jane Baalam who will present From Fayre to Festival, the earlier days of MedFest.
It wasn’t easy going, with changes of venue, financial problems and disputes about what it was meant to be about: history, reenacting, tourism, community involvement, dressing up? Not to mention: What you do when 40 Irish reen-
actors turn up a week early? Why authenticity is important. And what happens when language barriers and water carriers collide? And why the weather can make or break the event. Jane was involved with the Fayre/Festival for many years, heading the festival team from 1996 to 2006.
In complete contrast, on 17 October, we welcome Jo Teague, of “Stitch Story” fame, who will talk about her latest
project: an exploration of the lives of 19th century Cheltenham orphans and seamstresses through their work. Making, Mending, Marking is based on an exhibition of the same name, curated by Jo, at the Holst Victorian House Museum, Cheltenham.
All talks are held on a Tuesday, 7 PM, at Tewkesbury Baptist Church, Station Road, GL20 5DR. Admission £3, to include tea, coffee and cake.
Tewkesbury Bowls Club held their Competitions Final Weekend on the 2nd and 3rd September. Congratulations to the Ladies Champion Jackie Hughs and the Mens Champion Philip Timson.
Pictured in the photograph is Jackie, Philip and Sam Hawkins from the sponsors Thomson & Bancks, Solicitors who is presenting champagne to both winners. It was a very successful weekend with good support from the members.

Can You Catch The Charm Thief of Tewkesbury?
A Tewkesbury treasure hunt in a book by local self published writer and illustrator, Roger Haines, The Charm Thief of Tewkesbury brings a touch of mystery and romance to the town. In the newly released book, a thieving magpie has taken the charm bracelet from a mysterious young woman. She meets Theo, a helpful stranger who undertakes her quest - to follow the bird and find the lost charms. But it will be up to the reader to solve the puzzles that will lead him to them.
Roger Haines (52) has lived and worked in Tewkesbury as a teacher for 25 years. He has brought his love of mysteries and art together to create this full colour book that will take you through the streets and alleyways of the historic town from the comfort of your armchair.
abbey and other familiar landmarks. Visitors to Chelt-enham will be very familiar with Williams’ work if they have seen the fabulous Fish Clock in Regent Arcade, made in 1985.
The illustrations will transport the reader from the well known sites of Tewkesbury Abbey and The Bell, through Victoria Gardens and along the river.
You’ll enjoy the traditional banners adorning the streets and there’s even a visit to the Medieval Festival along the way.
The book is an homage to its famous predecessor, Masquerade by artist Kit Williams.
Masquerade - which celebrated its 44th anniversary this August - caught the nation’s imagination with its cryptic puzzles and the hunt for a fabulous golden hare. Williams’ illustrations even included Tewkesbury in one of its clues, with a fairy flying over the
While Roger’s book includes no actual buried treasure, it is a gorgeous guide to many much loved parts of Tewkesbury, presented in new ways. You’ll be studying the pictures for the missing charms, watched all the while by the beady eye of the magpie himself.
Whether you puzzle over it alone or solve it with friends, this delightful story of love, charm and mystery will appeal to all. The book is available to order from Amazon now.

‘Folk Treble’ returns to the Old Baptist Chapel
Three Worcestershire-based songwriters come together to share the stage for an evening of original, contemporary folk at Tewkesbury's atmospheric Old Baptist Chapel.
Colin Pitts, Mike Weaver and Charlie Williams will be appearing at the historic venue on Saturday 7th October (7.45pm).
Colin Pitts first performed in folk clubs while a student in Swansea in the late ‘60s, and became very popular in Midlands folk circles in the first half of the 1970s. He has played all over the UK and has appeared on many local radio shows and BBC Radio 2. A serious illness caused a reduction in shows for a while, but Colin kept writing and is now performing live better than ever.
Mike Weaver is a singer-songwriter originally from Cheltenham, but now living in Worcestershire. He is a writer and publishing designer by day and an acoustic performer by night, presenting his own melodic songs which draw upon both contemporary and traditional influences.
After a break of over twenty years, Mike
returned to songwriting and performing in 2013. Since his 'come back' he has played at a variety of events across southern England and the Midlands, opening for many well known-artists as well as performing his own solo gigs and playing live on folk radio shows.
Charlie Williams is a singer-songwriter from Worcester. His Americana-flavoured songs have seen airplay on BBC Hereford & Worcester and he can often be heard around the folk and open mic scene of his home town. Many of his songs are
storytelling ballads set in his county, from tragic tales in the Malvern Hills to the impact of the English Civil War on ordinary people. Others are lyrical ruminations on life, love and random experience. Charlie is also a successful novelist.
Doors open at 7.15pm for a performance starting 7.45pm. Tickets are £10 in advance from www.wegottickets.com/ event/585438/ or locally from the John Moore Museum, Church Street, Tewkesbury GL20 5SNsee website www.johnmooremuseum.org (seasonal opening hours).

Probus Club visits RAF Cosford
Every three months or so Probus Club members have a day out visiting a place of interest and recently we went to the Royal Air Force Cosford Museum in Shropshire. There we toured the four huge hangars where the aircraft are on display.
Each of the hangars has a different theme about the aircraft operated by the RAF over the last 100 years and the first hangar we entered covered the history of the RAF from its formation out of the original Royal Flying Corps and on display are several of the ancient aircraft used in combat during WW1.
Another hangar celebrated prototype aircraft some of which entered full production including one which was developed into the hugely successful Harrier Jump-jet. Others less fortunate included the ill-fated TSR2 cancelled by the government of the day because of rising costs, despite (or perhaps because of) its incredibly advanced technology.
One of the hangars featured the aircraft that helped to defend the UK in wartime, including of course the famous Spitfire and Hurricane and the Lancaster bomber. Although these iconic machines were actually engaged in combat in WW2, the fourth hangar also features the aircraft of the Cold War, when the UK needed a potential nuclear strike force. This display featured all three of the famous V-bombers, one of which (the Vulcan) is suspended from the roof of the hangar.
It was a wonderful day – an unusual opportunity to get very close to these iconic aircraft and being astonished at the

WITH MEANING
My mother-in-law sadly passed away recently and, as we shared her treasured indoor plants among the family, it made me reflect on other plants I have encountered with personal significance, writes Tim Hoskins.
In our house and garden, we have various plants we’ve inherited from deceased loved ones, that are still going strong and give reminders of their passion and innate ability with plants.
Some of them are quite unassuming, such as my Pelargonium ‘Pink salmon’ that sits on the window sill, flowers all year without pause and reminds me of the need to maintain a feed regime for my potted plants, as my maternal grandmother did. She was the Granddaughter of the Head Gardener at Lulworth Castle in Dorset and knew a thing or two about plants.
An Oxalis triangularis came from my paternal grandmother. From a very long line of Somerset farmers, the edible leaves remind me of her ability to create hearty feasts to fuel hungry farm hands and sons. My children recognise Oxalis wherever it grows and snack on it with relish.
In our garden we have an Acer palmatum ‘Seiryu’ that was a house warming present from a friend named Villain. It lived in a pot for far too long because we only had a small
courtyard garden then. When we finally planted it in the ground, it unfolded its wings and has stolen the show in my current garden. It still enjoys the company, near the backdoor, of my
Rodgersia ‘Chocolate wings’ and my Hosta collection that was my first foray into shade planting in the house where my son was born and Woodruff, my working lurcher, died.
I know of someone who gifted a plant to their friend that shared the same name as his ex-girlfriend. The current girlfriend (who he didn’t like) passed it unknowingly every time she went into the house. A cruel trick, but nobody understood the joke who didn’t know plants. There are few things for me that hold so many memories, perhaps unwittingly created but still vivid and most importantly, still living.

Why choose
to update permanent displays and to create temporary exhibitions.
This work is being undertaken by our landlord, Tewkesbury Town Council, with the help of a £367,000 grant from the Arts Council’s ‘Museum, Estates and Development Fund’.
We’re sad to be closing, but the work is essential.
As well as making the building watertight, it will allow us to move back into the second floor, which has been closed for the last two years. This will add over 50% to our current gallery space, allowing us
Before the repairs can be carried out, we have a lot of work to do ourselves, including packing the 7,000 items in our collection, ready for removal during the week commencing 16 October.
closed: our outreach programmes, including Alley Strolls and Museum Talks, will continue,
It may sound strange, but we’re excited to report that we’ll be closed for several months from Monday 18th September. This is to allow for extensive renovation work to our building at 64 Barton Street. Externally, this will involve repairs to the roof, guttering, walls and chimneys. Internally, the second floor ceilings will be restored and improved heating will be installed.
The refurbishment will then get under way. The first and very visible sign of this will be the building being wrapped in scaffolding.
We hope to re-open in late Spring 2024, but some of our activities will continue even though our building is
and we are close to finding a temporary location where we can carry on with other museum activities.
We will post updates on Tewkesbury Direct, our website and Facebook page, and on the noticeboard outside the museum.

After our summer break it was lovely to meet up again and catch up with everyone, before our speaker Vikie Pullen from Arctic Quest had us all enthralled with her passion for sled dog racing. Her enthusiasm was catching as she is so passionate about it, from racing on a dog bike with one dog to sled racing with 4 dogs. We were introduced to all her 38 dogs; don’t know how she remembers all their names! It was a great talk to come back to, but we still had time for plenty of socialising with tea and biscuits.
We are a very friendly and welcoming group, and we meet on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at the Wheat Pieces Community Hall at 2 pm and look forward to seeing members both old and new. For further information contact Julie Pullen on 07737 271684.
TEWKESBURY & DISTRICT CRIBBAGE LEAGUE
The T&DCL Season started on Monday 4th September with the Hylda Roberts Bowl Match at the Village Inn, Twyning, between the League Champions (Cross Keys Inn) and the KO Champions (Anchor 1774).
This was the Cross Keys third consecutive attempt to win the Crystal Bowl, but again proved ever the Bridesmaid and not the Bride. The result went right down to the wire, with the Anchor managing to gain the all important winning point from Table 3.
A nice touch to the evening in memory of Hylda, was the addition of a Rose from her Garden.

The businesses in Tewkesbury are changing radically, writes John Dixon.
Around 1903 we had
so many boot and shoe shops – and now none? But we have plenty of choice concerning eating - and drinking coffee
especially.
We can now welcome Amy and her friends at this restaurant in an auspicially historical building - but now with it with its original décor and delicious food.
Older members will no doubt remember that it hosted Janet Dean after 1939 - selling Everything For Mother And Child right up to 1960 – and then it was Bruton Knowles estate agency from 1974-1978. Can anyone remember any other businesses before Tilly’s Tea Shop?
The shop keeper in 1903 was Walter T. Boughton a Methodist who was who was mayor of the Town seven times from 19201929.
But he had moved up to the Hoo, Deerhurst by 1911 and his daughter had married D L Priestley, brother of Sir Raymond who was killed in 1917.
He was the Mayor who dedicated the War Memorial to the care of Town Council and he died in 1933 with the benefit of a Civic Funeral.
I wish Amy success in her new venture.

RETAIL CRIME PREVENTION
by Laurence Robertson, MP for Tewkesbury
Last week I held a Retail Crime Prevention meeting at Dobbies, in Ashchurch, and was very encouraged by the turn out. We were joined by a number of traders, as well as representatives of the Retail Trade Consortium, the local police and the Police & Crime Commissioner, Chris Nelson. It is crucial that when targeting the issue of retail crime, the broadest range of perspectives are taken into account, which is why the strong attendance is so positive.
It was good to see that so many traders are doing their best to prevent crime, by, for example, linking up through WhatsApp and equipping themselves and their premises with additional security measures.
However, they were encouraged by the police to report all crimes so that a trend can be established, which will help the police to apprehend those causing trouble.
In fact, following the meeting, the police were able to identify one such person from the details provided on that evening. For this reason it is vital that information is pooled by as many traders on the hight street as possible, so police have
everything they need to follow up with their investigations.
The government is also taking this matter
community officers. There will also be an upgrade to the non-emergency reporting of anti-social behaviour in the

Distance: about three miles; moderate ascents. Car Parking: with respect to local residents, in Conderton village. Refreshments: try the Yew Tree Inn at Conderton, or The Old Post Office Café, in nearby Beckford (check opening hours). Map not to scale: OS Sheet 190 recommended.
ON BREDON’S LOWER SLOPES
Conderton is a delightful hamlet which sits comfortably beneath the lower slopes of Bredon Hill, writes Jack B. Walker. Its lovely stone cottages have a golden glow in evening sunlight, which is my favourite time of day to take this ‘figure of eight’ walk.
Park in the lane at the side of the Yew Tree Inn at Conderton, or with care on the road from Overbury.
Walk up the lane, and when it bears left, carry on straight ahead up a rough track (1)
When you reach a gate and barn ahead of you, keep on the stony track as it bears right and sharply upwards, (2), then continue ahead until you reach the cross tracks (3)
Turn right and walk down the hill along a broad sandy track known locally as the ‘Yellow Brick Road.’
At the next cross tracks (4), take the path on your left which leads into Beckford Coppice.
Follow the path down to the stream and cross the footbridge. Follow the path up the bank and through the woods, and cross over a stile. (5).
Turn right and walk along the edge of the wood, to reach a small gate. Go through and carry on ahead with the fence to your left, then
bear right as the wellwalked path descends through the field. At the bottom of the field skirt a thicket (6) and bear right up a lane between some hedges.
The route now rejoins the Yellow Brick Road (7), so bear right and walk up the hill to return to point (4)
This time, take the path on your left and walk along the edge of a field.
About fifteen years ago the fields to your right were excavated as part of an archaeological dig, and evidence of a Roman farm was discovered.
At the bottom of the field, after a descent, bear right to a small gate at the other side of the stream (8). Go through and up the slope, keeping the fence to your left, reaching a row of trees.
Keep straight ahead over a stile into a meadow, with Conderton Manor’s gardens on your left.
Cross over the next stile and walk ahead to reach the lane; turn left
and back down into thevillage of Conderton.

APPROPRIATE FIND AT BOOKWORM
Volunteers at Bookworm in Tewkesbury High Street made an interesting and timely discovery amongst donated books waiting to be sold last month, writes Shelby Powell.
In support of the Tour of Britain cycle event in Tewkesbury, Bookworm themed a window display on the history of cycling.
A vintage booklet printed in 1952 and published by BSA Cycles - ‘Cycling, Know The Game’ was found in stock, and took pride of place in the display. Priced at two shillings - that’s 10p in today’s money - it must have been quite a bargain at the time.
The vintage booklet would make a perfect gift for anyone who appreciates cycling nostalgia and is available to purchase in store or through Bookworm’s ABE online account www.abebooks.com /bookworm-tewkesbury
Competitive cyclists have not always enjoyed the freedom of being able to race on the roads. In 1890 road racing was banned, so events could only take place on closed tracks, either in public parks or pur-

Riders had to wait until 1942 before the first massed start of a cycle race on closed public roads was organised. It was over 42 miles and completed in under three hours.

Beckford’s Hidden Gem
Nestled in a pretty courtyard at the rear of The Old Post Office café, in the heart of beautiful Beckford, is The Beckford Collective.
Over 20 local artists and craftspeople have come together to sell their original works of art, handcrafted gifts and cards.
Having celebrated its first birthday back in April, it has established quite a local following within the village and surrounding area. The doors are open from Thursday to Monday, 10am until 3pm throughout the Summer, with slightly reduced hours during Winter months.
Each day it’s looked after by one of the artists or craftspeople whose work you’ll find inside. Often, they will be creating while they are in the shop and love talking to customers about their work.
All of the local makers and artists have been carefully selected to ensure a varied range of high quality crafts and art; from wood turned bowls to stained glass art, African print notebooks, string art, bunting, bookmarks, tote bags, candle and diffusers, crochet toys, jewellery and ceramics.
The Old Post Office café is the perfect pitstop while you visit this little

NHS Staff help create new garden space at the Roses.
‘Many hands make light work’, a phrase which proved true last week when a team of 30 from the NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board used some of their team development time to pick up their gardening tools and paint brushes to help at The Roses.
The group split into three, working in rotation to weed and tidy the garden space and car park at The Roses. Each group created a beautiful painted mural that linked to
their values developed during the morning’s session and the work they do. These will beinstalled in the theatre or garden later this year.
Team Director Ellen Rule said “we are so grateful for the Roses theatre for hosting us for our team development session. It was a brilliant opportunity for us to take a little bit of time away from the office to work together on our team objectives and values in a creative way, whilst also supporting a valued local com-
munity organisation” Development Manager, Grace End, said “In the last week we have also learned that we’ve been successful in our application to The Woodland Trusts’ Community Tree Pack and in March 2024 will receive 30 saplings to plant.
If you are an avid gardener interested in helping us upkeep our garden, please get in touch with Megan Dunford megan.dunford@rosestheatre.org for more information.”

The hidden secrets of Tewkesbury keep on coming
Laurence Mills, Owner of the Cross House Tavern, has uncovered a host of historical features during the conversion from a phone shop to the cosy, real inn it now is.
A badly damaged, ceramic tile wall was uncovered and repaired with specially manufactured tiles from Stoke on Trent.
A cast iron range, it too, with a ceramic tile surround was discovered and restored, and now this new discovery has just come to light, another fireplace,
that had been hidden for years behind pine panelling. Needless to say Laurence will restore this new discovery, adding even more interest to this historic building. It makes an interesting thought to wonder what else, is waiting to be found, in a town full of interesting buildings.

MITTON WI
We had a very interesting September meeting, visited by Nigel of Severn Free Wheelers Blood Bikes. There is so much we didn’t know about their work.
They are a charity, supporting the NHS, originally formed in the late 50s, with the local branch starting in Feb 2007. Both men and women ride, with the oldest volunteer being 89! They are on call 7pm-7am daily and in one month can get over 8,000 calls and travel thousands of miles carrying medicines, samples, medical equipment, patient notes and blood. They also carry a lot of false teeth (patients sent home without them or with wrong ones!). Along with donations to Just Giving etc they also attend Prescott Bike Fest in June, so please visit them there.
Next month we will be learning sign language, so come along and join us.
Mitton WI meet at Mitton Manor School 7.30pm every first Monday of the month (unless bank holiday). All welcome so come along and join us. If you would like more information please ring 01684 292385, Mitton-WI@gmail.com or look for Mitton WI on Facebook.
OSTEOPATHY ADVICE with Katie Hogg, Two Rivers Osteopathy
DOG COLLARS
Some of you may be aware that at Two Rivers Osteopathy we treat animals as well as people.
The main animal I love to treat is dogs. There are plenty of exercises and tricks you can do, to help maintain their musculoskeletal health, and they usually like the challenge and game.
One of the questions
I get asked is; collar or harness? A collar will provide the dog with good directional information when taken out on a lead, but a harness distributes more forces and pressure over larger joints.
CAR BROKEN DOWN?
DOWN?
WE WANT YOUR CAR
If you’re thinking of selling your car please call Cleeve Motor Company on 07514 562768 or fill in the ‘sell your car’ form at www.cleevemotorcompany.co.uk Why choose
Collar thickness is the main concern when leading from a collar. It is possible to hurt or even sub lux the vertebra in the dog’s neck if the collar is too slim and putting
all the force through one vertebra To establish the thickness of collar you require, measure your dog’s neck from the back of their skull to the base of the neck (where is attaches to their shoulders). Divide this number by 7 (all animals have 7 neck vertebrae). This measurement will give you the thickness of one vertebra and its associated disc. The ideal collar will be 1.5-2 times this
value.
Having a collar of this thickness will mean that if the dog pulls with force at any point, then it will not be putting pressure on one vertebra alone.
There is no simple measurement for harnesses. There are many on the market and they all put pressure in different places. It will depend on both your breed and its temperament of your dog as to which is the best harness. Have a
good look at the harness and note if there are any pressure points with and without lead pressure. The pressure should be evenly distributed.
For both control and direction, double ended leads are available, which means you can attach to the collar for direction and to the harness for pressure information. This can take some getting used to, but our dogs will thank us for the effort.

The Mop Fair attracts many people into Tewkesbury, and a good number of those enjoy a break for rest and refreshment in Holy Trinity Church, right in the middle of the fair.
Many are surprised to see that the walls are covered with paintings and other pictures, and
A Haven of Peace and (relative) Quiet!
there are crafts and cards on display too.
This is Holy Trinity’s Art Exhibition, an annual event. The works on display have been created by members of Holy Trinity, friends from other local churches, and contributions from
local schools, not professional artists, but people who enjoy using their God-given gifts, whatever their age. Many of the things on show are for sale with a proportion of each sale going to Tewkesbury Food Bank.
As well as being open
for people to come in during the two nights of the Mop Fair, the Art Exhibition is also open on the Friday and Saturday before the fair. (See poster for opening times.) The Sunday Service takes place with the Exhibition all around! The Art Exhibition was originally the idea of a professional artist,
a member of the church who had started an Art group, most of whose members attended Holy Trinity. In 2013 he wanted a nice display area in the town centre where the group’s work could be displayed, and Holy Trinity was the perfect place. Since then the Art Exhibition has always been held during
the Mop Fair week (except during covid), and everyone is welcome to come and see it.
