About Teton Science Schools

For over fifty years, Teton Science Schools has connected learners of all ages with nature through placebased education. Our programs, integrating local environments from neighborhoods to national parks, inspire curiosity and leadership, impacting over 15,000 participants annually.

With four campuses in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Teton Valley, Idaho, we offer diverse educational opportunities, including the Mountain Academy (early childhood to 8th grade), outdoor learning programs, Murie Ranch, educational wildlife tours in Grand Teton and Yellowstone, consulting services, and a national network of rural schools.

Educational Meetings and Conferences

Our Jackson Campus features several large, flexible spaces for small groups or large gatherings of up to 300 people. Our impressive Main Dining Lodge on the Jackson Campus features an expansive, flexible dining area with large windows, 60-foot ceilings, advanced audio-visual capabilities and plenty of natural light perfect for events, conferences and private meals!

Retreats

Our scenic campus locations are perfect for combining the rustic, adventurous atmosphere of our Wyoming location with productive, unique events, conferences, team-building programs, and outdoor educational adventures. Activity program additions can include: private wildlife expeditions into Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, team building on the Doug Walker Challenge Course, canoe excursions on String Lake and on-site lodging and dining. From tackling the challenge ropes course or canoeing on the lakes of Grand Teton National Park, we provide experiences that inspire and energize your team.

Doug Walker Ropes Challenge Course

Our challenge course offers exciting team-building opportunities for all ages and abilities. From low elements a few feet off the ground to high elements forty feet up, our trained instructors will facilitate your ropes program to help your teammates build confidence, work together towards a common goal and problem solve in a beautiful and exciting setting.

Dining Options

Our culinary team is dedicated to providing menus and offerings that complement the needs of your event. Take your dining experience on the road with a picnic in Grand Teton National Park or enjoy the comforts of our scenic dining rooms and lodges. Customized menu options, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and vegan dishes, along with wine and beer service, are available with advance notice.

Teton Science Schools is proud to offer unique programming to complement a wide variety of special events. Engage your team on the challenge course or canoe on the lakes of Grand Teton National Park. We aim to provide experiences that will build on the goals of your event and leave participants refreshed, energized, and inspired.

JACKSON CAMPUS

Convene and connect

Located less than two miles from the town of Jackson, the Teton Science Schools Jackson Campus is nestled on a 900-acre site comprised of aspen, conifer, grassland and sage habitats. The Jackson Campus can accommodate a variety of gatherings and special events from meetings, celebrations and large conferences to workshops and retreats for as many as 250 guests, in adaptable modern spaces.

Lodging: Multi-story, dorm-style lodges in modern, high performance rooms with private or shared baths. Rooms accommodate 1-6 guests per room, bed and bath linens provided. Total lodging capacity of 154 people.

Meetings Spaces: Capacity up to 250 people.

Indoor: Dining lodge and meeting rooms, small breakout and conference rooms, classroom meeting spaces and cozy lounges.

Outdoor: Covered patios, playfields, playground, picnic table and outdoor seating options, covered porches with rocking chairs, and access to paved biking and running trails.

Seasonality: Year round

Chez Shea & Hohoot Lodges

1st floor rooms

CAPACITY: 6 per room

BATHROOMS: Shared

Each lodge has five rooms on the first floor. All rooms have three bunk beds and sleeps a maximum of six people. Two community bath/shower rooms are located on each floor.

2nd floor rooms

CAPACITY: 4-5 per room

BATHROOMS: In-unit

These floors each have 10 rooms. Each room has a full bed and two bunk beds. Each room has a private bathroom.

One room in Chez Shea and one room in Hohoot are handicap accessible.

The Kelly Campus features log cabins, surrounding an oval meadow. Each cabin has a unique layout and character.

Rustic retreats

Our Kelly Campus is located 19 miles from the town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Perfectly poised on the eastern side of Grand Teton National Park and 1 mile from Bridger-Teton National Forest, the Kelly Campus features stunning mountain views in a forested, wilderness setting. This location is comprised of aspen, conifer, grassland, sage and riparian habitats. Formerly The Elbow Ranch, the Kelly Campus is housed on a historic dude ranch, restored and redesigned for educational purposes.

It includes multiple meeting and classroom spaces, a beautiful log cabin dining lodge. The Kelly Campus blends old west history with Teton Science Schools’ expertise and skills accumulated in more than 45 years of outdoor experiential education.

Our stewardship of this historic property in partnership with Grand Teton National Park requires that programs include information on natural history concepts, field science experiences, and/or cultural resource understanding.

Lodging: Private cabins with baths for 1-8 guests per cabin or bunkhouse style lodges with shared baths for up to twenty-five guests per lodge, bed and bath linens provided. Total lodging capacity of 85 people.

Meeting Spaces: Capacity up to 60 people.

Indoor: Historic Main Lodge Room, Stokes Science Building (lab, earth science classroom, Kids classroom, Murie Museum), Spur Ridge Classroom, Dining Lodge.

Outdoor: Grassy lawn playfield, picnic tables, fire pit, creek access, and direct access to hiking trails through four ecological communities, and access to adjacent Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Seasonality: Year round

THE MURIE RANCH CAMPUS

Explore and Reflect

The Murie Ranch is an iconic ranch located in the heart of Grand Teton National Park in Moose, Wyoming about 14 miles from the town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The Murie Ranch, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, served as the home of the Murie Family and as a base camp for conservation leaders for more than 56 years. Olaus and

Mardy Murie spear-headed conservation and biological study in Jackson Hole, Alaska and around the country serving as leaders in conservation culminating in the passage of the 1964 Wilderness Act. The Murie Ranch is tucked away down a quiet road at the intersection of sagebrush, aspen, and riparian habitats, providing the perfect setting for appreciating the natural beauty of the area, exploring, and reflecting on the need for these places.

Our stewardship of this iconic ranch in partnership with Grand Teton National Park requires that all events have a clear tie to the Murie Legacy, the historic Murie Ranch, the Murie family, and/or the values of wild places for visitors to Grand Teton National Park.

Lodging: Cozy, rustic cabins with private or shared baths for 1-6 guests per cabin and one bunkhouse for up to 8 guests with shared bathhouse. Total lodging capacity of 19 people.

Meetings Spaces: Capacity up to 26 people.

Indoor: Homestead building with main meetings space and two breakout rooms. Home of historic conservationists, Olaus and Mardy Murie, ideal for Docent-led tours, conversations and reflection.

Outdoor: Campfire ring, outdoor gathering areas, and accessible walking, biking and hiking trails in Grand Teton National Park.

Seasonality: May through October

Tranquil Stays

The cabins at Murie Ranch offer a variety of accommodations to suit different needs and group sizes. These rustic cabins feature twin, double, and queen beds, with most using a shared bathhouse and a few having private bathrooms. If you seek a solo retreat or a cozy space for a small group, the cabins provide a comfortable and immersive experience in a serene, natural setting.

CHALLENGE COURSE

The Doug Walker Challenge Course is an outdoor, experiential obstacle course on the Jackson Campus of Teton Science Schools. It is an educational resource to help groups work together more effectively, to promote leadership and teamwork, and to help individuals develop self-awareness and confidence. We also incorporate educational themes to teach students and participants about scientific topics and concepts.
