Next Generation Award:

For the last several years,TLC has seen a huge increase in the number of high school students volunteering as tutors and afterschool teaching assistants. This year, we wanted to begin a new tradition of honoring one of these students who we believe to be the next generation of TLC. Recipients of this award are recognized for having made a significant impact throughout their time volunteering at TLC.

After an anonymous vote by the staff, this year’s recipient is none other than Lupe Garcia! Lupe is a long time TLC student, and as she has gotten older, she has continued to step into a larger leadership role. Lupe has worked for the past two summers as a teaching assistant and Rising Educator in the summer SOAR and Practice Kindergarten programs. She also began volunteering as a tutor last winter, working with not only one, but often two students at a time!

It is such a joy watching our older students become involved as leaders at TLC. We simply cannot wait to see what they go on to do next!
